Hello from HOT & STEAMY NorthEast FL (or SouthEast GA..your choice)

Up to 97 today, maybe 100 in some spots, chance to thunder later.  Had a make up make up make up softball game last night (rain outs galore), went 1 for 2 & scored, we lost 18-12.  Closest game for us this year.  Have 1 more make up game, then we're done. 0 for the season right now.

Project car's engine is laying on the ground now, have to remove the dirt and get ready for painting the engine bay.  Then remove the OTHER engine and install in project car.  All this to be done before Sept 1Banged Head [banghead]...more fun!!!

Installed Irene's Diner on the layout, hope to get pictures of that on the SPF Sunday.

I tried to post TWICE yesterday and got kicked out....what did I do????Confused [%-)]

OK, see ya later.....and I KNOW where Rogers Corner is....but I ain't tellin'!!!!Whistling [:-^]

Cool this morn for August but sunny. Surprised to see how much clean-up remains from Monday eve's storms.  Even today, our systems are being affected by power issues at another campus.

I have an interesting task: writing a review of a rather elaborate rigid airship 'simulation' - it is sure tough to fly one of those zeppelins. Maybe I'll take ZR-5 Macon for a spin out over Ohio...

Another hot and steamy day here in Georgia.  Should be pushing 100 again today for Athens.  Its already in the upper 80's in the yard.  Guess I better get whatever outdoor work done before lunch, crank up the AC in the train room, and run trains for a bit this afternoon.

The granddaughters are back in school today.  With the high temps they don't have outdoor recess nor phys. ed., the gym isn't air conditioned.  I guess the early back to school balloney is what happens when the adults on the BOE forget what its like to be a kid.

Morning!

Roger:  School already????  Pretty soon they'll be starting before they finish for the year.  We have orientation the Thursday before Labor Day.  So much for the long weekend.

Another quiet day of mid-80's...Still no rain.  Yardwork.  Need to pull the foxtail out of the front flowers. Yuck.

Finally started some Charles Wood Silver paint on the 182 Crane.  It's the right color!...Right degree and size of metal flake...but it won't dry for (can says 5-days).  I'll keep you posted.  Since the grass isn't growing I guess I'll watch the paint dry.

With heavy heart I have to announce a catastrophy that fell upon the "Sago Palm & Flagstone Wash Railway" last monday. Tree trimmer was working up amongst the birds & squirrels. Apparently there was a mis-calculation and a fairly sizable limb took out a section of the trestle, bent some track beyond use and pulled about 20 feet of track out of the ballast.

Really wanted to give the guy a swift kick in the butt, however it is extremely difficult to kick one's self without breaking a knee. Oops [oops]  Black Eye [B)]

Well had the TMCC up and running my conventional trains for about 5 minutes this morning then the 681 grabbed an loose end of a wire hooked to the outside rail and connected it to the center rail ( as it dragged it under it self befor I could react) and it shorted out the layout and fried the pm-1 so now I don't have a way to controll the conventional engines Sad [:(] guess I now need to look into the possiblity of getting another PM-1. well that'll be another month or so oh well need to pay for train set first to friend that owns hobby shop. (watch ebay for a while and see if any come up for a reasonable price.

It was Cool [8D]while I had it going tried out whistle and all and it was working great. At least when the train set comes in I'm set up for it as it is TMCC engine in it.

Not much else going on today will talk to you all later

Afternoon all.  Grandson on the way home.  He has grown and is well behaved [because he has not been around Granddad much].  Loves sweet ice tea [his Mom had a fit, book baby].  Had fun.  Think she will try to make her Mom's birthday and we are going for a weekend soon.  Cart loved the trains but was kind of mithed at them.  Did get him to hit the horn button on the TMCC CAB1 but he was more interested in the antenna.  CAB2 does not have one so I think that will work better.  Chief and Officer visiting nest door.  Brad may be fired and also may have threatened Rite Aid [where he works some].  HUMM  Hot and humid.  Burg has put Lucy in her place several times today.  She runs and jumps in his face.  She gets a sharp grawl and open mouth but he does not hurt her.  Still hd to do some Rolesville today.  Had early Chamber Breakfast and then long phone call with Town Atty this afternoon.  Lake House, hurry up.  Can't get cell calls on my cell [Alltel] nor Town's [Nextel] in house.  My Alltel will work outside of house.  That will be good.  ESCAPE!!!!  Chat later.

RT - NO!  OUCH, man, that's too bad!  Are you sure it didn't have a breaker or something you can reset?  Big storms last night so had to get off computer and read some train magazines including the latest TCA magazine (hint hint Kurt, cool stuff) and CTT.  Good issues, I need to re-read them both.  Laz, had a good time except for some turubulence over a certain area, but luckily the Chameleon circuit disguised the TARDIS as a little black raincloud and we were able to let Chief get in a few shots before heading to Sir Jame's house Laugh [(-D]  Doug - is this a video game with the airships?  It sounds really interesting!

Evening all from beautiful (hot) Southern Ohio

Fife- We do have a Navy, here is the flagship

Laz- Where did you get the pic of the Recon Team?

Doug-That accessory is neat.  That could be Chief and Buckeye in the boat.

RT- I guess there is a lot to be said for remaining "lo-tech", hope repairs are not too expensive

Buckeye- Thanks for the email with the location of the layout near Cincinnati.

Got up about 1400 and cut grass, sweat like a pig.  Bride made Stuffed peppers and fried corn for dinner be fore I left for work.  This is the last night shift then off till Monday dayshift.  Hopefully while off get to play with the airbrush I bought.  This may be interesting.

This is Fair week and to cool off later in the week.

All take care and may God bless

DougDaGrump - Laugh [(-D]  Good one!  Hey, cool accessory, I love that you can see under the water!  Hope the renovations go as easy as the demolition - that's the kind of thing that usually happens to me!

RT - bummer man.  So, are you going to protect it with a fast breaker?  I need to find out about that I guess, I don't have anything to protect my equipment I guess except the breaker on the Z1000.

RT:  A 5a inline fast blow fuse has worked wonders for me...$2.50 for the Shack assembly, and fuses are $1.65 for (5) at the Depot.  Saved my TMCC engines about a dozen times, and I've only had them for a couple of months.

Doug:  Sorry to hear about the engineer gone arborist.  Hope the MOW crews aren't busy with other things in the comming weeks, and can get that line open ASAP.

Brutus:  Beacon is on!  Pizza tonight.  Maybe you could tow some rain in with you.

Doug (not a grump), sorry to hear about you being out on a limb.  Hope the MOW is able to get the track repaired for nomral operations real soon.

Doug (Chrystal Lake), Have you read the book called "The Last Lecture"?  It is by a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon...a good read, I am in the middle of.

RT, Augusta VA Eisenhower is a good facility.  They should treat you well.

Been crazy lately.  I am still on call and have till Monday.  Vacation seems so far away, even though it was only a few days.  I have tried to catch up on everything here, but it is impossible these days.  Hope everyone is well.

GOOD EVENING ALL

Warm 85 today, did not do much outside except our evening walk. I did repair two Marx items I got in that buy a few weeks ago. Mostly rewiring and and replacement post. I also got a good pair of PW 027 switches but can't find any of those nuts that hold the wire to the post. One place might have them but I need to take the switch with me for size. thread sizes are tricky when guessing. Well Brutus fire up the thing and let's go. Does that thing have a whistle, if not we must get one. That would put a spot in the Chief's undies while he's reclinerizing.   Ready.....S.J.

Good evening all,

Didn't check in yesterday as I was a little under the weather and spent most of the day in the recliner. Feel great today and spent the day at the Museum.

We definitely need some rain, but none in sight.

Hoping to stop at Barry's tomorrow and see if he has any Lionel and K-line catalogs left for me.

Buckeye,  If you need any help with the wiring on Doug's project, just let me know, my rates are quite reasonable considering all the perks we will be getting.

TARDIS is on and ready to go.  Doug, are you worn out or up for a trip, I hear there is Pizza and also Sir James has rootbeer floats?  Dennis, I heard part of that on the radio the other night on the way home I think.  He introduced himself and told them he was dying of liver cancer, I think?  There was a local radio pastor who was very good, but passed a couple years ago from that - apparently it is really tough to beat it.

John....I was hoping you would be able to get on board to help with the wiring.  Instead of flying commercial, I believe a charter would be more comfortable and it shouldn't cost Doug much more money for the trip.  This way the charter could just pick you up in Elizabethtown instead of you taking the limo to BWI.

BTW, make sure you bring that gold plated wire.  We want the best for our customers.

Not to dredge up bad memories but there is One southern navel vessal left and it sunk in an Ohio river not sure if it is the Scioto river or Olentangy any way it sunk on a mission to free confederate prisioners from the long gone state pen. You can see its smokestacks sticking out of the water still to this day.

Could not sleep last night, hope not to have same problem tonight.
