Well done Buckeye!
Evening Gentlemen:
I continue to make some improvement. I was able to sit down at the dinner table tonight and I am moving around with a lot less pain. Progress seems glacial.
I hope everyone else is doing well or improving. Never having a major health issue in the past, caused me to be ignorant of the health of others. You learn a lot about empathy when you get laid up. The important thing is to stay positive.
CSX indicated today that things are going well for their railroad. They also announced that they are going to buy back $3 billion in stock. That should make all of the Chessie fans happy.
Regards,
John

and for everyone else
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!
A special treat for my good Irish friend, Mr. Murphy of Chicago.
Six retired Irishmen are playing poker in O'Hare's apartment whenPaddy Murphy loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and dropsdead at the table. Showing respect for their fallen brother, the otherfive continue playing standing up.
Michael O'Conner looks around and asks, "Oh, me boys, someone got's totell Paddy's wife. Who will it be?"
They draw straws. Johnny O'Neil picks the short one. They tell him tobe discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.
"Discreet??? I'm the most discreet Irishmen you'll ever meet. Discretion is me middle name. Leave it to me."O'Neil goes over to Murphy's house and knocks on the door. Mrs.Murphy answers, and asks what he wants.O'Neil declares, "Your husband just lost $500, and is afraid to come home.""Tell him to drop dead!", says Murphy's wife.

Brent. Remember, "Old age and guile will beat youth and speed every time." And Susieq has your number.
Celebrate b-day like nothing has happened. Show up with a Chessie. Husband gets guilted out, caves on all the issues, and delivers her mail. Gotta love a wife who is smart enough to forge progress (her definition) despite all obstacles. Her timing was impeccable.
A&Y: Laying low now means not being layed really low later. Get well.
John: Same advice.
Rich: Bet your Dad got misty eyed when he saw you resurrected his cherished old iron from the storage dungeon and his 1666 taking center stage once again in all its former glory.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Morning from sunny south Florida!
Got my upper level train working just fine now, finished installing all the track and completed wiring for the upper level, tests complete, now to hook up to full time transformer. Remodelled my airport area as I had to use that to stand on to do some wiring on upper level track.
Hung a Closet Maid shelve for the wife yesterday and put up a flourenscent light fixture just after the doorway upstairs so I can see to work on stuff.
Still working on MTH DCS download and upgrade to DCS 4.0!! What a pain it has been to download! The phrase "Extreme Torture" may not describe how I feel about the MTH download!!! THEY should make a DVD that you buy for about $25.00 to install on your computor or an upgrade kit for $55.00 with all the cables and downloads included.

Geez, I remember when I was 37.....then again, maybe I don't...... Glad your' enjoying your Legacy!! I'm still trying to get my TMCC to work
Had my company softball tourniment Saturday, and as usual, we won. Played left field (talk about comin' out of...oh, never mind), and my usual position catcher. Beat out 3 infield grounders and went 8 for 10 on the day. Not bad for someone my age....!
Sunday after Palm Sunday Church, I got my Dad's 1666 running (posted on SPF with VIDEO!), It was so special, I wish I could've had Dad down here to see it. I sent him the video link.
First time in a long time, will be in Jax for Easter. Usually visit my Aunt or Mom & Dad, just too expensive to fly home & my Uncle isn't doing well (plus working Sat as is my son). So, I'm going to clean the house and plan Easter dinner, shop Thursday after church, clean house Friday night (after church), then Easter Vigil Mass at 7:30 (used to be at 10pm or Midnight)on Sat. Get to eat too much and run trains....!
Have a good day all!
Rich

All - thanks for the b-day wishes. RT I made it to 37! I get closer in age, yet remain the same every second of every day... depending on who's second hand ticks faster. edit - Fife if memory serves me correctly there are two new kittens for you to meet. Don't worry they won't bite and they play real nice together!

Back on nightwork, so this evening should be busy with a donnybrook or two...
Good morning all,
Happy St. Patrick's Day! It is a cloudy day in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s to 50s. I did get to run the 384E last night for a little bit, but not as much as I liked. I had the usual fare for breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day. John, you should come to the 500 sometime. It is really spectacular.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' Fellas. Not much going on here today. Have to finish writting a paper for school (have about 90% of it done), attend a 1/2 day meeting (this ought to be fun... stock up on coffee and sugar before heading out), drop a package in the mail for one of our SnOhioan friends, and that should about do it for me.Susieq asked if I felt any different this morning. Told her no, just a little more awake. I guess as we age we don't rely as heavily on sleep? I do want to get the kitchen light hung tonight when I get home. Don't know why but I feel bad that I didn't get that done for her this weekend... and she hasn't even said anything about it.
Had to catch the late version [west coast] of John Adams. Then suddenly reclinerized. Trip home was great. Went right straight to In-laws for dinner. Fed deer and etc. Later.
Yummy, Peach Pie, Banilla, Cookie Cake, Brownies, Fudge.... Man! You guys know I'm trying to lose weight, right? Well, maybe a little won't hurt....
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
EVENING ALL
Doug- just run a set of wires to the dead loop(1 for center,1 for outer rail) and that should do it. Then get ready for company as we are headed your way. Do you have any banilla as I've grown use to it?
My wife spent the day on the living room coach and I stayed in the family room. Two ladies from her sunday school class stopped after church to see her (we live 2 blocks from the church) and one brought her some soup and I ate yesterdays leftovers. For supper we had peach pie and banilla ice cream. But when we get to Dougs I will force down something. I'll meander awhile and see whats going on elseware. S.J.
Good evening all,
It was a cloudy and clear in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s. Helped the wife mop the kitchen floor and made arrangements for Easter. Did weights at the YMCA. Dad taped a History Channel show on freight trains and also the F-1 race. Thought STR might have a shot at a podium finish, but they blew up with three laps to go and still finished 7th. It was a real crash fest and engine blow-out. Four teams from Indiana in the NCAA. Watched the end of the NASCAR race. Thought Tony Stewart would get win, but he got tagged at the end. I had bran muffins for breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Evening:
A&Y: Take care of yourself, get plenty of rest. As Doug said, Pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at (no pun intended).
Brent: Hope you have a good one. As my grandfather used to say: "It is good to have family visit. It is even better when they leave."
Doug: Keep us posted on the loop issue. I am curious what is causing the problem and how you fix it.
I made marginal progress today. I am moving around much better and no longer confined to the upstairs. The pain has subsided to the point where it just feels like I have a severely pulled hamstring and a sprained ankle. The pain just comes and goes. One minute I feel great and want to get up and run around, the next minute, the pain is pulsing through my leg. The doctor said it could take a couple of weeks, but I am really getting impatient.
My wife picked up the serial adapter I need for the DCS upgrade. I now have everything ready to go (phone jack, mini stereo jack, DCS software and serial port) to upgrade to 4.0. Now I just need a willing back.
Everyone have a good evening.
Great idea Doug!
Let's all meet at Doug's! Mandarin Chicken for dinner tonight. Substituted a lot...turned out better! Sorry no left overs...Bride said 'I just can't stop eating this'.
Doug: I'm with Sir James...I filed out the connections, and re-crimped all of the connections, especially the switch connections, so they were all clean my troules ended with that. Also check to make sure the pins are clean.
Tummy is full of McDonalds now - Char stopped on the way home and picked me up a double cheeseburger. They used to have the best fries, but lately they are not very good :( Had a nice talk with Doug Murphy today, a good friend and wise man too. Sir James, we have a cookie cake, so why don't I grab that, pick up Doug and then Kurt and we'll be over to your house in a few minutes, right?!

I have a reverse loop on one end, and any engine that runs out on it stops dead at either end of the far '1/4' of the loop. I have three remote switches along one end with fiber pins for each along the outer edge. I guess I have to find a photo of it. I'm not explaining this well at all.

Doug - is it a short? Are all your switches the same kind/model? It could be that one of them is shorting that track section, maybe only when a car is crossing a certain spot? Some switches want different rails to be isolated for the anti-derailing feature, don't they?
