Way to go, Randy!

I'll have some of that cream of broccoli soup, please.

Whew - the weather is just gorgeous today.  It's almost at 70 already with only a very slight breeze.  Made the morning walk just a tad uncomfortable.

I'll chime in on the disbelief concerning temps in the vicinity of the Tetons- aren't you really somewhere else, datafever?

I have had similar dealings with Hobbytown USA (in general).  I used to be quite heavily involved with RC racing and was Semi-Pro.  To make a long story short...neither I nor my sponsors would shop there if we were given the keys to the store and a blank check.  Most HT USA's I've ever dealt with are the epitome of bad hobbyshops/retail establishments.  Many of the 'store policies' rip the customer off and make for lots of bad blood.

Hobby Town's corporate headquarters is in Lincoln, Nebraska. Within the last several minutes I had sent them an e-mail detailing my experience with their gift card. I told them that I feel that their ridiculous policies like this are WRONG and if it were not for Bob Hoff and his wife who own and manage our local Hobby Town store, and have become good friends of mine over the last few years, I would not do business with Hobby Town at all. I doubt that I will get any kind of a response from Hobby Town's corporate headquarters, but if I do, I will share it with the rest of you folks out there. At least I for one, have spoken up on this issue.

Bravo, Ray.  That's one of the things that makes our economic/political system so great - we CAN complain.  And yes, sometimes companies really do respond to customer complaints and change policies.

If I don't get a response to my e-mail from the corporate headquarters of Hobby Town, I will go one step further. I will mail a formal letter of complaint to Hobby Town's headquarters.

I am in the process of writing a letter to an old friend of mine who practices law in Deadwood, South Dakota,  a letter which I had begun last week, well before this incident with our local Hobby Town even occured. I am going to ask him if he has ever heard of this kind of a situation in a retail environment and what he thinks of it. I don't want to sue Hobby Town. I only want to see them drop their ridiculous in-store policies, which I am sure are turning off a lot of other hobbyists besides myself.

I sure hope that he's heard of it.  It isn't anything new.  Back in the days, it was possible to buy gift certificates - which had expiration dates in the 1 to 2 year range.  Gifts cards are really just the same thing.

EDIT: except with gift certificates, if your purchase was less than the amount of the certificate, you got cold hard cash back.  With gift cards, the only thing that happens is that the value of the card is decreased.

Lots of meetings tomorrow, much as I'd like to sleep in. Cool [8D]

Toaster ready, bread and bagles standing by.  Cream cheese, butter, jam, p-nut butter standing by.  Ginormous pan of scrambled eggs heating and will be ready in a while.  Ginormous pan of bacon heating and ready soon.  Batter made and standing by near the waffle maker.  Syrup and toppings standing by.  Food...check.

Ready for another day!  It's day two of my internship.  After yesterday let's see...16 hours down and 404 to go!  C-ya later!

%^~^% - Got mah new cologne on this morning - Got mah hair re-done.  Straighten out the new fur coat and if someone so much as moves a hose, there will be he... er, there will be a whole lot to pay!

Do you like the new scent - Eau de Pew...... a favorite of mine!

Joe - condolences.  Maybe you should have used the hometown team?

Randy - cool picture.  Those used to be my favorite Cornhusker colors until a couple of years ago.  Now I think more in terms of black and blue.

Hey this makes 2 days in a row!  This must be some kind of a record for me!

Had the perfect overnite - (don't jump to conclusions!) - a very high wind all nite, but was tempered with the lilt of train whistles all night long.  This presents a problem.  We like to watch trains during the day, but they run most of them overnite.  Not sure I can get the Driver to park in that lonely, dark parking lot overnite with Millie running all nite.  And her seats recline, so it isn't like he couldn't get some sleep...... Confused [%-)]  Sigh [sigh]

Blather over - I brought in a big bag of kibbles and will share with anyone that wants cereal for breakfast.  Fish and liver flavored.

Big Smile [:D]

Wow, Dan, you've really been a busy beaver this morning, haven't you!  Thank you for getting everthing ready this morning.  BTW, Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  I'm beginning to feel much, much better.

Thanks to all of you, who have picked up the slack while I've been sick.

Hey Willy,

Just watched the weather folks last night. Did you forget to turn on the heater up in Alaska? Seems the folks up that way aren't happy with your decision, and are shipping some cold air this way, complete with some snow. Highs in the single digits? Lows in the single digits on the opposite side of the big goose egg? Man, I was planning to go out on the Moffat Line this weekend. The DRGW heritage unit is rumored to be out west someplace and headed back by then.

Oh well, I guess if all else fails, my pictures will be noise free if I go out (cold temperatures kill off a lot of noise from higher ISO shots on digital cameras...of course battery life is attrocious, but that's liveable.)

I think it's still early enough to make requests, right? Can we up the forecast temps by a couple degrees?

Yes, Mudchicken and Chris - a big cold snap with all the trimmings (snow, freezing drizzle/rain, sleet) is on the way. Actually, it may be more of a prolonged period of cold, rather than a snap. Some of the forecast models show very cold air for two weeks and beyond. Only time will tell.

Willy, congratulations on your 4,000th post!  I forgot to mention that this morning.

For Produce Tuesday, we got:  celery, iceburg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and strawberries.  Will have to go to the grocery, and get onions, and I can make a big garden(tossed) salad for supper tonight.

For lunch today, there is beef stew w/cornbread, and cole slaw.  Along with plenty of chocolate cake, pecan pie, and apple pie for dessert.

On the supper/dinner menu tonight, will be:  Italian spaghetti casserole (Mutt's grandmother's recipe), along with the fresh garden/tossed salad, garlic bread, garlic Texas toast, along with the above mentioned desserts from the lunch menu.

Does anyone have any other requests for tonight?

I see that Chris is right about the cold air moving in.  The San Jose forecast calls for lows below freezing by the end of the week. Captain [4:-)]

CW, I would make a request for dinner tonight, but that Italian spaghetti casserole looks way too tempting. Dinner [dinner]
