Looks like temperature drops have everybody at home huddled around the fire.

Did anybody remember to bring the firewood from the old place?

I had the elves stack it out back.....

Just a dusting of snow here at the house.  On the other hand, a co-worker who lives an hour south of here got a foot of the white stuff.

I'll take a helping of dinner.  Then I'll go throw a handful of dog food into the Dalmatian's dish.  He's decided it's time for a late evening snack and is being quite vocal about it.

I've got some split, aged, dry oak in the truck.  I'll stoke the fire.  Who's got the marshmallows?  CW that garlic bread can't be beat with a stick!

Thanks for remembering the wood.  It has been so unusually warm this winter, I have had the air conditioning units on my mind.  Train watching the next few days will be best done with DVD's on the big new flat screen sitting up on the mantle.

Morning all!  Time to 'kick the tires and light the fires'!  I see that the fire from last night is now embers.  I'll put some more wood on so we can have a warm breakfast!  All the beverages are ready-what's supposed to be hot is hot and what's cold is cold.  Here's some fresh donuts and coffee cake for now.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  I finally decided to crawl out from beneath my warm covers.

Dan, thanks for making the coffee, juice and hot chocolate/tea this morning.  That coffee cake sure does look good.  Getting ready to sit myself down beside Mookie, and try a slice of it.  And I just might warm up a small plate of Mutt's spaghetti casserole for breakfast as well.

Any requests for lunch anddinner/supper?  I'm thinking about making a big pot of chili, along with some bean soup and more beef stew.  Does that sound all right with everyone?

Morning All,

Thought I'd bring in another shot to hang on the wall in the new diner. This one is from Eolafan's namesake yard. I'm not sure I like the foreground clutter, but I guess it's a little too late now to deal with it. At any rate, here's the shot:

Meanwhile, Willy, I've noticed our forecast temperatures are creeping up a bit, and the snow totals are dropping a little. If you keep up that trend while playing with your weather machine, I'll cover your dinner tab!

Well, I have a bid due for the City of Golden today, so I must get to that. Hope you all have a great day!

EDIT: That's two top page honors in a row! I think I had better be off to buy a lottery ticket!

Hey Chris, I think that "foreground clutter" helps make that a great pic. It gives it a nice depth element. But I am partial to long lense shots. Anyway great picture!!!

You better go ahead and buy that ticket.

Been awhile since we have had BBQ.  Someone mentioned it this morning and I got sauce on my coat just thinking about it!  Call in some of the troops that make the BBQ and let's see what we can do.  We can do it on the patio and I can watch from my hammock.  I will need to taste it first to make sure it is ok.......Evil [}:)]

My 2 cents [2c]

I think the "clutter" helps make the focus not just Engines/Trains, but Railroading in general. "One mans trash (clutter) is another's treasures..."  In this cae,it works!

Nice Pic...

How about a cimmiminon roll and coffee to go...and since I am (relatively) new here, I gotta ask...it the BBQ here Beef or Pork?

Yes, I know a certain bird who will not be happy with that third option! Maybe those rising temps for Denver will cheer him up a little bit.

There won't be rising temperatures here in Omaha. It looks we may be staring at quite the snow storm come Saturday afternoon through Monday morning. I can't wait!

Mookie, the bbq is on in the Crock Pots:  one has beef bbq, and the other one has pork bbq.  That will taste very good on this cold day, along with the chili and beef stew w/cornbread, and I made sure there is enough of everything for tonight's supper, and second and third shift workers to take to work.

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION OF BBQ, MOOKIE!!

Nice shot as always, Chris.  //yearns for lens like yours

BBQ sounds great, I'll take a couple of BBQ beef sandwiches, please.

Sounds like I better get the snowblower fired up and checked out before this weekend...

Mah fork is in the upright position!

Willy can't scare me - they scared me a few days ago with the weather threat.  I think this will be a rather bad end of week and weekend.  So Willy is off the hook.

Speaking of BBQ chicken, where is my favorite "I am over my beady little eyes in snow" feathered friend?

Great shot, Chris!  I'll add my voice to those who think that the foreground adds to the "railroady" feel.

Beef BBQ sounds great right about now.  Dinner [dinner]

Desserts tonight:  chocolate cake, white cake w/white icing (Jim, are you here?!?!), pecan pie and fresh pineapple, apples, pears and strawberries are on the list for tonight.

Corn bread sounds good. Was that in Rock Springs where the wind blew empty gons off the track?

I'm not looking forward to this arctic blast---and I'll get it before you do!  Somebody asked about empty gons being blown off the track.  That might be Reno/Sparks as we sometimes (like today) get sustained winds of 70 mph with gusts over 100 mph.  Semis are usually what get blown over, but I would guess train cars could also fall victim.

Mmmm, little smokies in BBQ sauce along with BBQ Pork!  I'll have a good bit of each, some coffee and pie along with many thanks to the respective chefs.   And Ms. Mookie, let me tuck a bib in around you.  You'd look just awful with BBQ sauce all in your fur!

Somebody want some cold?  We got lots!  Never got above 22 today, and it's about 8 right now.  Was tied up with projects at work today, so missed all the meals.

On the other hand, I'm off Friday, due to the federal holiday on Monday, so I'll be available to take care of that third kind of BBQ - but you won't find any dirty ones in what I prepare!

Friday - plan ahead!  The chicken is all seasoned and "resting" before the Friday roasting and the rest of the fixin's are in the cooler hiding (coleslaw, mac salad, potato salad, baked beans).  If I get ambitious tomorrow night, I'll turn out some pies for dessert!

Whew!  It is noticeably colder out there right now than it was yesterday.  But I still managed to get a good walk in.  Supposed to get a little colder, bottoming out on Friday, and then heading back upward.

Stay warm, everyone!
