CP...the reducing value of gift cards is pretty common. It's in the fine print on the card...but it happens more on major card (Visa, MC) gift cards than store cards. I had a Barnes and Nobel card I got for christmas and immediately misplaced. When I fianally found it, I thought it would be next to worthless, but they honored the full value. It was not a choice of the clerk at the store, the 'puter did the figgur'n.
Interestingly, a gift card sale doesnt actually account as a sale until the use of hte gift card. It is carried as a liability on the books, because it is something they have to deliver in the future. So I guess the decreasing value is a way of encouraging folks to use them so they can decrease the liabilities on the balance sheet...something accountants (and stockholders) are more worried about than consumers...
HOw about some whole grain waffles with apple compote and coffee this morning? Feeling pretty hungry...going into my Eat Like a Bear ready to hibernate mode....
Well, I finally got Sunday Dinner ready. Although Sunday Dinner isn't as big as it is usually. On the warmer bar you will find: tomato soup, cream of broccoli soup, beef veggie soup, and your choice of grilled cheese sandwiches or roast beef, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Think I've got enough of everything to last this afternoon and evening.
Progress report: stomach is beginning to feel a little bit better, and headache has eased up tremendously. Thank you all for the prayers and support.

CW - Sunday dinner sounds just fine. Take it easy until you are feeling better!
I have no real news today, so everyone have a good Sunday.
TTFN.

Nothing wrong with a light lunch - sounds pretty good, as a matter of fact.
It's "down" to 46 here, with clear skies. The next few days are looking a little dicey, though.
Got some of my Christmas decorations down. Will finish up after lunch, then I have to bake treats for the dogs. No - they aren't spoiled (well, maybe, but...), the Dal is allergic to wheat, so he gets wheat-free home-made treats. My dog enjoys them, too. Recipe available on request.

I have had similar dealings with Hobbytown USA (in general). I used to be quite heavily involved with RC racing and was Semi-Pro. To make a long story short...neither I nor my sponsors would shop there if we were given the keys to the store and a blank check. Most HT USA's I've ever dealt with are the epitome of bad hobbyshops/retail establishments. Many of the 'store policies' rip the customer off and make for lots of bad blood.

Yes; Every once-in-awhile we do have some really nice days. It does seem that we are "stuck" in this pattern for a couple more days, with a chance of snow sometime Tues.
(Willy 2,Either turn off that "Snow Machine",or point it in another direction!!)
(And I'm sure the Denver area residents would appreciate not being pointed their way either!)

Yes Dan, Thanks for helping out,I know CW will appreciate it.
If you look very closely, you should find some leftover pizza.
(without disturbing Ms. Mook's stash!!)
I hope you all aren't disturbing Bergie's cake,CW was up LATE fixing it!!!!!
(thats why she's not in just yet, still )
//edit// Mook, how's Driver doing after his eye surgery?! Hope ALL is well!!
....Weather people indicated to us to be on the lookout this morning for a few snowfluries in the air early on....Right now the sun is shining in my eastern office window very bright and temp is in the mid 30's with some wind....Feels rather chilly. Maybe some of that flurry stuff a bit later but for sure not now.
Now maybe tomorrow morning we'll see up to 1" of the stuff....so they were saying last night.
Still no winter tires on my little pickup...Keep waiting for the weather pattern to change and the threat of a big weather system to be headed this way...and then I'd run to the dealer to have them put on but....so far so good.
So don't change the knobs in the back room yet Willy, we're doing fine just as they are now.....

Morning All,
Well, while there was no new accumulation yesterday, it sure seemed like there way. Wow we had some wind yesterday! Driving on US 36 was a very "white knuckle" endeavour. Thankfully, things seem a little quieter this morning.
Mook, how is the Driver doing? Hope all went well. I got to go see the Eye Doc on Friday myself. I made one crucial mistake. I went alone. Of course I had my eyes dilated as part of the exam. Even with the dark glasses given to me, driving in a snow filled world proved to be a somewhat painful experience. Thankfully it wasn't that far. I was quite content to spend the rest of the day in a dark corner at work. Everyone was strongly advised NOT to turn on any kind of illumination in said corner!
Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning, everyone! I finally made it in here. But it sure was peaceful, between 2 and 4 a.m., mixing up, baking and decorating Bergie's birthday cakes (yes, plural, because I haven't heard from him on any flavor preferences.)
Dan thank you so much, for taking care of breakfast duties this morning. That time this morning was when I had finally drifted into a deeeeep sleep.
Lunch is on the warmer bar: your choice of beef vegetable soup, beef stew, cheesey cream of broccoli soup, and cornbread. Also have regular saltines and oyster crackers to go in the soups if anyone would rather have them.
I wonder if B will make an appearance today. His birthday cakes are well hidden until he does show up. That's why there is a chocolate cake and a white cake for our regular desserts today. We certainly do not want to cut the birthday cakes, without our birthday boy being around.
Everyone have a great afternoon, and stay safe and warm.
Can I lick the frosting bowl? Or the spatula? Yummm, chocalate cake! But it's too early for lunch out here on the west coast. Temps were about 50 yesterday, so things are warming up a bit during the day. Still, it was 14 this morning, but clear skies and lots of sunshine. Got to run and get a kid too school. Stay safe everybody!
Bill
Well, here is my 1000th post. It's about time... I didn't think I'd ever get my post count to 1000.
I'll try and leave the weather machine the way it is for a few more days. I made a few adjustments to give Denver a break from the snow. I think they deserve it. Come Thursday though, all bets are off in Eastern Nebraska. I'm going to send an arctic front through and temperatures are not going to recover for awhile, let me tell you! There could be snow too.
Okay, I must be off to Bergie's birthday topic to wish him the very best for his birthday.
Everyone have a good week!

(Grabs big bowl of beef stew and some cornbread )
Willy,
If you turned off the Denver snow machine, you didn't let the local forecasters know about it. They're still telling us we're getting another batch on Thurs./Fri.!

It's just a very short break, I wanted everyone to have a chance to get shoveled out before the next one. Once I get things cranked up again for eastern Nebraska, you'll probably be feeling the effects, too.
Good morning, all! Why is everyone just standing around? Waiting??? You mean we aren't going to dive into the b-day food until the b-day boy actually shows up???
Well, somebody better get the action started...
Bergie!!!

Could be worse, you could've been driving down US 40 near Winter Park!
ok - I escaped the jail called "time off" and am now back and happy as a pig in mud! (family forum remember!)
I was off starting at noon on the 22nd of December, was due back the 2nd but Prez Ford needed a day of rest, so they made it the 3rd. Worked the 3rd, then Driver wanted equal time, so was off the 4th and the 5th. And will be off again on the 15th for MLK Day.
I do not make a good retiree. I don't even make a bad one! This is my work, my hobby and my puter - all at one desk. But enough with the crabbies.
Hope you all had an excellent holiday season and that all your incoming charge card bills will be small. I received cards and letters from people all over the US that I would have never met had I not been so fortunate as to find the forum. Such nice people we have here!
Willy is using the doggie door cuz I put him in the doghouse for that last little fiasco - we got a lot of snow and 15 miles from us barely got any. Looks like after Wed we will do another round of ice/snow/bad street cleaners/wet papers and the Driver out there with his snowblower that would double as a ride to work - just having a whee of a time!
He had cataract surgery on only one eye. (You would have thought they were putting in a 3rd eye the way he and the doctor carried on!) Dare I say - had this been a woman, she would have had the surgery, gone home and done 3 loads of laundry and probably grocery shopped the next day. As it was, it was pretty pathetic. (so glad he doesn't read the forum and don't you call and tell him, either!)
I am through the hardest part of the year, so should be able to keep up a little better on the diner news and respond a little more in the regular forum.
With that, I am off to that hidden pizza and want to check out that chocolate fountain a little closer. CW - we are going to need some big strawberries and some disposable paw gloves - maybe even a little bio-hazard suit - cuz this is GONNA GET MESSY!
