Just one small correction.  "B"s birthday is on Monday the 8th, not Sunday the 8th.  And while not everyone on the forum deserves their own thread, "B" certainly does.

Ed, I would post a photo of myself if I only knew how to go about doing it. Same goes for setting up my own Avatar.

For those of you who might wonder what I look like, I will give you all a physical description of myself and you can use your imaginations.

I am 5'9" in heighth, I weigh somewhere between 160 and 170 pounds. I have brown hair which is thinning out and slowly turning gray. At 52 years of age I am partially bald. I have a mustache which I keep neatly trimmed. I have green eyes, and an oval shaped head. I wear glasses with pewter frames. Cherokee Woman, her husband and Sarah all know what I look like because fairly recently I had sent them a picture of myself.

Afternoon All,

Thought I'd quick stop in and tell you all that I made it back. Found Denver buried in snow (though it's much better than I thought it was going to be) and my desk buried in paperwork (though it's much worse than I thought it would be). Will try to stop into tonight.

Ed, I'll see about a new avatar pic, but let's just say that there's a reason I stay on the other side of the camera! Wink [;)]

Actually, I ran that picture through a graphics program the lets you turn a photo into a watercolor - so if you think that's what I look like, you're only close.

Christmas tie notwithstanding (I was working the 'Polar Express') - that's my standard get-up when working on the train.  The hat, however, has (as of Christmas) been replaced with a standard conductor's style cap.

Nevermind that I was a "car host," basically an usher.  Appearance is everything, and a lot of Christmas albums will feature pictures of the kids on the "Polar Express" with me as 'the conductor.'

I finally figured out how to add my own Avatar to my posts, now if I could only figure out how to post photos. Bergie's suggestions are of no help to me, and if it involves cutting and pasting, that is something I am not familiar with,

Anyway, the subject of my Avatar is #37, a GP-10 of the Ellis & Eastern Railroad here in Sioux Falls. The Ellis & Eastern is a shortline owned by Concrete Materials.

Ray,

To post a picture, this is the process I follow:

1) I go to the site that has the picture that I want to post. In most cases, that's my PBase site. When I'm at the page that has the shot I want, I right click on the address at the top of Internet Explorer. A pop-up menu will appear. I choose "Copy."

2) I start or reply to a thread here at Trains.Com.

3) When I want to insert the image, I type {img} (however, the { and the } become [ and ] respectively.

4) Right click behind the {img} and choose "Paste."

5) In my case, I have to add ".jpg" to the end of the file as Trains.com will only recognize image files. You may or may not have to do this.

6) Type {/img}, once again submitting [ and ] for { and }.

7) Finish typing your message, and post as normal. If you have any trouble, let me know. If you can point me to where you keep your pictures at on the web, maybe I can do a specific example and try to help you that way.

Hope this helps at least a little bit.

Good evening everyone!  Well, Sarah and I went out for a "lady's only" afternoon out, doing what "most" women love to do:  SHOP.  We've been home about two hours now.

Oops [oops]I typed the wrong month this afternoon, when I asked about Januray birthdays.  Joe, I do have B's birthday listed, and also Ironken's on the 21st.  Are there any more January birthdays?  The month I don't have any birthdays listed is April.  Mutt pointed out to me that I DID have B's & Ironken's birthdays listed for January.  I beg a thousand apologies!! Please forgive me.Blush [:I]

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Looks like we here in the Louisville area can expect some rain, possibly heavy, coming in sometime this afternoon.  At least it isn't snow.  We're supposed to reach a high of about 58 degrees today.  So far, I'm liking this January weather we're having.

Coffee is ready,  fresh juice is made, and we've got hot chocolate this morning, along with the hot tea.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  bacon, sausage,  western omelletes, hash browns, oatmeal, toast, and homemade biscuits  and sausage gravy.

Everyone have a great day!

I think I'll help myself to some decaf and oatmeal. And those raisins sound yummy, too. Things have finally quieted down a little around here again, so I thought I'd stop in and sit a spell. It's nice to see everyone stopping in here. See you again soon! Kathi

Hey Kathy, [welcome] to the DD/CS!!  It's good to see you in here!  Sure hope you can come by more often (when you have the time).

SactoGuy, send me the recipe, and I'll make it for dinner/supper tonight.

On the lunch menu today:  beef vegetable soup w/cornbread, cream of broccoli soup, grilled cheese sandwiches and PB&J sandwiches (so you have a choice of sandwich), and fries.

Desserts:  chocolate pie, chocolate cake, coconut cream pie, and pecan pie.

Along with SactoGuy's supper request, does anyone else have any requests for supper tonight?  I'll do my best to comply with your requests.

Afternoon all -

Wow! Not only did the 'Coffeeshop' over on the MRR side of things have to 'close down' and relocate to new 'digs' but you guys as well? Kalmbach must be paying a fortune for all of these 'moves' to bigger/newer digs!

Anyways, just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a Happy New Year albeit 4 days late!

Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

Well, let's see. I'd love to have some of that beef veggie soup and corn bread for lunch. Dinner? That one's up in the air. As for B's birthday, I don't know of anything in the works just yet. I usually don't get to see him much, as I'm upstairs and he's downstairs. But I'll make a point of harrassing him — I mean, wishing him well — on Monday. Any suggestions? Good news about the depot. Keep me posted as things start to happen, OK, Joe? Thanks! Kat
