Some fish sticks, fries, and cornbread sound mighty good for this evening!

My first day back at school went fine. It was just the same old boring stuff. The good news is that I'm done with gym class forever. Replacing gym class this semester is speech.

It looks like there is some more snow (4-6 inches) headed for Denver. I hope Chris and Mudchicken don't mind too much.

We just spoke with Mookie a little while ago.  Driver's (Ed's) eye surgery went o.k.;

and he seems to be doing well.  Mook is taking off tomorrow to take care of him,

and should be back in,on Monday.

Ray,Thanks for the bread!!  It should go VERY well with everything!!

I'll have a couple slices of bread along with soup.  Pass the butter, please.

A New Year's welcome to Kathi K.  She is the writer of no less than two feature articles in the current issue of Trains.  And, with the others on the staff, she has had to take on extra duties while waiting for the appointment of a new Associate Editor.  Andy Cummings, a young man with very impressive credentials, has taken that job.  Perhaps he will drop by the DD&CS and best wishes can be offered.

I just noticed that DD&CS is not a five star establishment.  For some reason, it only rates 4 1/2 stars.  Hmmm...

Oh yes.  Also best wishes to Driver.  Was it cataract surgery?  Had one eye fixed years ago.  Thought I was way too young for such a problem, but the eye doc assured me people of younger ages can have the problem.

Evening All,

Willy, Thanks for the new batch of snow headed our way. The old stuff is either disappearing or starting to look terrible. 4-6" is manageable, and will look nice if I decide to go do some picturating. As long as you avoid the one foot plus totals, you'll get no argument from me.

Kathi! It's good to see you in here. It's nice to know that the folks at Kalmbach have time to stop in for a bite to eat at the Diner from time to time!

Well, I guess I must be on my way. I have a couple tasks to accomplish this evening so I can have a free weekend. I found a place in Denver that rents out a lens that, as far as I've been able to discern, doesn't exist. Of course that did nothing but stir my curiosity. Will post some details after the weekend is over if it goes through.

Must be on my way now. Hope you all have a good evening!

TTFN!

Good Friday morning, everyone!  It's a "nice" rainy morning here in Louisville, with a current temp of 61 degrees.  And even with rain most of the day, we're supposed to get up to a high of 78, 79 degrees.

Coffee is ready, juice is made (regular oj, and oj/tangerine), hot chocolate and hot tea are on the drinks menu this morning.

I have breakfast ready:  doughnuts, muffins, bear claws and bagals, along with bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and scrambled eggs are on the warmer bar.  Ray, thanks so much for the fresh baked bread you brought in last night.  Appreciate it!!

Hope everyone has a great day.  Be careful and stay safe out there, and hope you see lots of trains today.

Good morning everyone. At the present moment we have a cloudy, overcast sky here in Sioux Falls, and a temperature of 34 degrees. The wind chill puts us at about 29 here. Our weather here is quite mild, when in the month of January it could be a lot colder than this.

I think I'll grab a bear claw or two while I am here in the Diner. It's good that Cherokee Woman provides us with good stuff like this for breakfast, it's much appreciated.

I will be busy in my kitchen baking bread later this morning. I use all the old fashioned, traditional methods when baking bread, where everything is done by hand. I do not use a bread machine. I have been treating a number of the people that I work with at my part time employer with a loaf of freshly baked bread, and I will be making a couple deliveries later this afternoon. It's fun to surprise someone with a fresh loaf of homemade bread when they are not expecting it.Chef [C=:-)]

Good afternoon, everyone!  Got back from the grocery store a little while ago, and we've got everything put away.  Managed to go at a time that there was NO RAIN.  Wondering how long it'll be before it starts again:  since we were supposed to have continuous rain all day today.

Our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now under way:  on the fish menu today:  cod, halibut, perch, trout, and catfish.  We've also got hushpuppies, fries, slaw and salad.

Desserts for today:  apple pie, pecan pie, peach pie and chocolate cake.

Everyone enjoy your lunch, and stay on the safe side.

Right now it's 63 degrees in Northern Ky. It's a heat wave for Jan. 5th. Next week though we're supposed to get back to normalcy. That darned ole' El Nino.

I'll take some catfish, slaw and some fries. Gotta have a Dr. Pepper also.
For the desert a little apple pie.

As warm as it is outside, that fish should be pretty fresh to eat.

Gettin' ready to take baby to dr for a little checkup. She's a week old now, and everything's been going fine.

Everyone have a great Friday. It's Ghost Whisperer night tonight.

I'm moving a little slow today.  Must be growing pains or something like that.

Yesterday was quite cold with a strong, gusting wind.  I darn near froze my ears off.  Today should be warmer and the wind is not blowing nearly as strong - at least not yet.

I've really enjoyed seeing the new avatars.  I'm thinking that even though I don't have a pic of myself, I just might change my avatar on a regular basis.  Got some nice pics, even though they aren't trains.

Afternoon all.....

Sorry I haven't been in much, just haven't had a lot to say, was an up and down week at work, the down part being we found out our plant will be shut down for the week of the 22nd, due to lack of orders for trailers.  Might have to start looking around for another job if this trend continues, we could be facing another shutdown in February, won't know for a while on that one.

I changed my avatar a bit back, photo is one of my pickup, taken on the 23rd of december at a park next to the CNWC main in Burlington, WI.  Maybe after a while of this one, I'll put up the photo of myself taken with the comedian Gallagher taken in November.

I'll take some fish for dinner tonight, CW.  Thanks, and see everyone later.....

Evening All,

Thanks everyone for the kind words about the new avatar picture. I really do despise being on the other side of the camera, but the movement that Tree started was the final push I needed to do a new self portrait. My last real portrait (e.g. not a casual snapshot while out hiking) was taken about 4 years ago, so I needed a new one for several reasons. I decided it would be fun to do something really casual (complete with the backwards hat). I wanted a camera prop, too. I decided going completely retro would be kind of fun. The camera in hand was my first "real" camera (I had a cheap Point and Shoot before it), and it was also my Dad's first camera. It's about as simple as an SLR can get, but still is great fun to take out shooting from time to time!

Well, must be off. I've got some shoveling to do. This light accumulation that Willy dialed in is piling up a little more than I thought it was going to.................................

Have a great weekend everyone!

I've got the next round of fish, hushpuppies, fries, etc. ready for tonight, and everything is on the warmer bar.

Louisville, KY reached a record high for this date:  69 was our high today.  And they said that if we don't go lower than 57 tonight/early Sat. morning, we'll set a new record low.  They even said some plants (with flowers) are blooming, and that's not going to bode well in the spring, because the colors won't be as bright, etc.

Guess that's about all I have to say for now, except for everyone to have a great evening, and enjoy your supper.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Well, according to this map the National Weather Service has issued, it looks like my forecast for the immediate city of Denver was right on target, although areas just west of the city were higher than I anticipated.    http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bou/?n=bousnow_010507

It's looking like an arctic plunge for my neck of the woods come late next week and next weekend. Highs in the lower 20s, lows in the single digits above or below zero, and possibly a good deal of ice and snow. That works for me, but I suppose just about everyone else from North Dakota to Oklahoma will have a complaint about it. Of course if it gets too nasty, then I might complain a little too.

EDIT: It looks like the NWS needs to proofread their map. The paragraph they posted doesn't make sense and they have January 5th, 2006 rather than 2007 at the top of the page. Laugh [(-D]

Egads!  That is pretty bad.  And I noticed that the page title starts "Denver Winter Sorm...".  Willy, you need to get in there and straighten that organization out.
