Good Friday morning, everyone! Dan, thanks for getting breakfast ready this morning. Heard on GMA a few minutes ago, that Denver's temp this morning is ONE above zero this morning. We better make sure we have PLENTY of hot tea and hot cider for the mudchicken, so he can thaw out his feathers!!
Mookie, if you're really cold, you can borrow my blankie also. I didn't even use it at all last night: too warm in the house. So, needless to say, I slept like a newborn babe, nice and cozy warm.
Went to the gym (YMCA) with Sarah last night, and she had me on a few cardio machines. Wanting to tone and firm my upper arms, and decrease my tummy, so she helped me work on those areas. I'm beginning to feel a liiiitle bit sore this morning. But I think that's a good thing.
Larry, let me know when you're ready to get started. And I "volunteered" Mutt to help you man the grills. Just have to make sure he's wearing his "KISS THE COOK" apron.
See you later,

A good, bitterly cold morning to everyone out there! Sioux Falls right now has a temperature of absolute 0, and the wind chill leaves us at -21 below 0. I think it's going to be like this throughout the whole weekend and then some. I'm sure glad that I am not having to stand out in the cold ringing a bell for the Salvation Army, all that is behind me now.
I'm going to do a job interview with Hy-Vee Foods this afternoon, they are getting ready to open up a new grocery store, and a friend of mine has offered to run me to that store for the interview and then home again. Otherwise I would be hard pressed to want to leave the house for any reason today. I started out my morning with a cup of hot chocolate.

That's -273 degrees Fahrenheit!!! How is it that you can still type?
Good luck with the interview, Ray. I have friends who work for Hy-Vee, they say it's alright.

Mook, Thanks for doing the math! I'm still trying to figure out if we want/need 3" to 5" of rain, or 36" to 60" of snow!!!!
For the former,CW would have trouble keeping her head above that amount; as for the latter; both totals are WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!
Ray, that temp is COLD!!!! With no offense to you,or anyone else that's having cold weather like that,Please Keep It There!!!!!
Right now we have a wind chill factor of 22 degrees BELOW 0. I will be leaving the warmth of my house within another hour to make a run to our local post office to mail a letter to a friend of mine who practices law out in Deadwood, in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I will walk as FAST as my legs will carry me. SHIVER ME TIMBERS!!!!!

.....Temps all over the place this morning. 50 degrees here and rain expected later and off and on thru Sunday. Looking at the weather system coming at us from southwest appears the most of it will pass just south of us but we'll be getting some of it for sure....Looks like Walt and friends will be pretty much in line for a bunch of it.
Next week....Colder.

Morning All,
All I'm going to say is that it's a strange winter day in Denver when one looks to Alamosa or Gunnison and thinks, "Wow, that's pretty warm!"
Oh well, not too bad except for the fact that the windshield washer fluid froze in the lines and there's enough De-Ice agent on the roads for at least three states. Driving back from DIA last night was an excercise in stopping at almost every off ramp to clean off the windshield.
MC, one of the advantages of having the CopCar is the large battery and alternator. She spun over as easily this morning as if it was 75ºF!
Willy, thanks for cutting the snow back. Only about 1/2" at my place this morning. And thanks to the cold, it was quite easy to take care of (didn't need the shovel...broom worked just fine).
Jay, if you want, I'll bottle some of our cold and sell it to you cheap! Any time Willy screws up and the temp climbs above 60ºF, you can just pop open a bottle, and Voila! A/C in a bottle!
Well all, must be on my way. May you all have the best of luck with whatever weather Willy has sent you!

That said - the chicken and all of the fixin's are on the server bar! Dig in!
If you don't want the full half chicken, we can break off a drumstick for you, or give you the white meat, instead. (Auto edit didn't like the usual name for that part of the chicken)
Also on the bar - potato and macaroni salads, coleslaw, baked beans, home-made rolls. Pie's over on the counter. Ms Mook has first dibs on the chocolate pie, though.

Larry, thanks for the fiiiiiinne food!! Sure does taste great. Mutt wants to know if you found his 'KISS THE COOK' apron anywhere. He seems to have misplaced it. It is blue, with white lettering, and a set of big red lips!!

Afternoon everyone....
It's 26 degrees outside, with freezing rain and drizzle. Just had to make it slippery for us, eh, Willy? They also keep changing the forecast for late this weekend, now supposed to just be light snow instead of moderate to heavy snow. Looking forward to snow on the ground, haven't had any in over a month, has been very dreary outside.
The nice thing about my diesel in the winter is the twin 750 CCA batteries and the 140 amp alternator under the hood, glad I ordered the truck with the plow package, even though I don't use a plow. I'll still do my iimitation of a pro stock diesel pulling tractor, but It's always started up on the first try.
I'll take some white meat, Larry. See everyone later.

I will take some of that BBQ Chicken, though!

matt and I were tired after our trip Friday and the rainy weather really makes you sleepy.saying a winter mix for today but sun/monday is going to be a mess.Matt doesnt have school because of MLK jr. day but going to work might prove interesting.as modelcar stated colder next week too.maybe it will kill some germs floating around.
Evening all. I'm sleeping in tomorrow and Sunday as I'm off of work. I'll be on breakfast duty again on Monday. I found a picture that I think those in Denver might like plus it's kinda funny:
Dan
Good late evening everyone.
I think it's time to forego the Saturday Pizza Fest and make all kinds hot comfort food tomorrow (beef stew, chili, New England-style clam chowder, and various hot soups). It's supposed to get down to 23 degrees F. for a low at where I live and much of the northern USA will be very cold indeed.
Forego pizza? Forego pizza???
Hey, pizza can be eaten hot too, you know. It doesn't have to be eaten as leftovers the following morning.
good morning
juice coffee and hot chocolate are made.we have maple& brown sugar or apples&cinnamon oatmeal for breakfast.going to be a good day to stay inside and work on the layouts.
joe
I think I'll stop in at the Diner for a bowl of oatmeal and a big mug of steaming hot chocolate. It's cold here in Sioux Falls, we have a temperature of 1 obove 0. At least the wind has died down here considerably. If I didn't have to go in to work this morning for my part time employer, I would be sitting at my card table putting together a jig saw puzzle that I started working with yesterday afternoon. I think it's a bit too cold to be out watching trains, so I resort to doing jig saw puzzles and other things. Today is a good day to relax with a cup of hot chocolate and read a good book.
I hope the rest of you out there have a good day!
Good morning, everyone! Well, let's see. Joe, thanks for getting breakfast ready. I woke up at 5, and then the next thing I knew, it was 7:20. And I went to sleep around 10:30 last night.
We're still getting light rain this morning. Has never been a very heavy rain, or downpour, yet. Seems we might miss the really heavy stuff, but we still have today, tonight, and tomorrow; so guess we'll wait and see. At least we don't have very cool temps to go with the rain we are getting. At 5 a.m, it was 60, and is currently 58 degrees. Supposed to be going down slowly throughout the day, to be down to about 54 this evening.
Have plenty of soups, stew and chili in the fridge, along with leftovers from the bbq yesterday. So no one should go hungry in here today. Plus, I'll be in later, and fix up the pizzas for tonight.
Mutt's sister is coming down today to see us. We'll be taking her out to eat for her birthday. Actually getting to see her on her birthday! I won't tell how old she is, but she is a "few" years older than Mutt.
Everyone have a great day and stay dry and warm.
