I think I'll go with the BLT w/fries today, and (glances nervously around the diner) a nice big piece of chocolate cake.

I'll go for the BLT and fries.

Winter conditions aren't improving around here - the rate of vehicles off the road reports on the scanner is about constant.

You may be safe on the cake today - with the holiday a certain kitty may not be in...

Good morning, everyone.  I'm moving just a little slowly this morning.  A nice warm bed seems to do that to me sometimes, particularly when there is a holiday in the works.

I don't know how cold it got last night - below freezing - but it is 40 now, and on its way to an expected high of the mid-50s.

Brian, you go ahead and eat all of the chocolate cake that you want, because there is absolutely nobody on this forum that would let the cat know that you have eaten all of the chocolate cake.

May or may not drop in tomorrow...seems the ice storm is expected to drop all the power in the Houston area sometime tomorrow morning...2 to 3 inches of ice expected...and most of our infrastructure is not designed for such extreme cold conditions...and to top it all off, our power company sent all the "extra" line men to Oaklahoma to help them out a few days ago...go figure!

Oh well, thats what they make Coleman stoves and lanterns for, and got the old Dearborne gas heater out and hooked up!

You guys stay safe, and if anyone hears from the Mookie, let me know...

BTW, we ended up with about 3 inches of snow total when it finally quit this afternoon.  Tonight the freezer door gets left open- my weather station says it's 6.3 degrees right now, headed for zero.

Neat Chad!

Today is 'Baked Goods Breakfast Day' as I've made pretty much every kind of donut I could think of plus some more 'beagles' and cream cheese.  Feel free to heat them at your leisure.  Beverages are in their usual locations.

O^Blindfold [X-)]^Darn Muffler - can't seem to get it on right!  Hello - can't tell if anyone is in here!

Hear there is some cake rattling around in my bowl.  Hmmm - Brian must have done something to displease the gods again!  Will wait for Joe to pour some milk over it.  Ah - chocolate cake and milk!

You know - I remember reading one time that milk should always be pasteurized.  I disagree.  I fell in a vat of milk one time and it went way past-my-eyes and I wasn't a bit amused!  Angry [:(!]

Well, we got 3 inches of snow and it is now 8 below.  But next to western NE, Kansas, OK and parts of Texas (some of my old stomping grounds - no, no - tiptoeing grounds - ladies shouldn't stomp!) I think we made out like bandits!

I am going to drag my muffler and muffs with me over by the fire.  I donated my hammock in absentia - but to a good cause, so the rug looks pretty inviting.

Brother Carl sez I should share my chocolate cake.  He must have forgotten I was an only child and don't share.....  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Blysard in a blizzard - well, it is just acclimating him to NE weather for when he moves up here!

And the chicken!  He probably has to carry Gus over his head so Boss Hen can find them both.  The snow is good for burying the asparagus.  Ack.....

4 days of enchantment until another imposed vacation this weekend!  Bah!

Moo!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Overslept this morning, have only been awake and up about 1/2 hour.  Not a good thing on a Produce Tuesday morning, believe you me!

Good morning, Mookie, and welcome back!  We really missed you over the weekend, and yesterday!  Now, if we can get our distinguished owner, and BC in here, the gang will all be back.  Well, we do need Tina, Mark and Dan Harmon, too.  As anyone heard from any of these people?  I will try to get in phone contact with Jim later on this morning (after Produce); worrying about his parents in Missouri, with all the power lines down, and all.  And it's been forever since we've heard form Dan the Man Harmon.  He needs to show back up with a new installment on the detective series.

Mookie, I poured your milk for you!

And Dan #2, thanks for breakfast this morning.  Think I'll take a chocolate covered, cream filled long john doughnut, and a big ole slice of chocolate cake, please, along with an extra large black coffee.

I think I hear footsteps on my front porch; but I'm not answering the door until 8 a.m.!!  You all take care, and I'll see ya on the flip side.

Very strange weather here.  Clear skies, temperature of +5, four inches of snow on the ground.  Oh right...It's winter!

Coffe and a hot bowl of oatmeal should do it.

Well, we only had 43 people show up for Produce today.  And all we got was apples and potatoes.

Gee, if we could get close enough to the derailment and fire, I'd say we'd have a weiner and marshmallow roast for lunch today.  But, I know they won't let us get that close!!  So, guess we'll just keep the DD/CS where it is, and I am now serving:  chili, beef stew, cream of broccoli soup, cornbread, open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & brown gravy, and beef w/noodles and salad.

It got down to 12 below zero here at Omaha/Eppley and some spots throughout town were even down to 15 below. No records were broken though; in fact, this is the coldest its been since only 2003. I don't seem to remember that, but I guess it was not as long ago as I thought that we last suffered through this.

Dry weather but below average temperatures are on tap for the rest of the week. I hope everyone down in Missouri is doing ok, I know it's pretty nasty down there.

That's all I have this morning. Everyone have a good day!

Beef stew and Chili are a perfect ticket for a cold day like this. I will be dropping in at the Diner shortly. It had gotten down to 19 degrees below 0 here earlier this morning, and it is slowly warming up here, at last report we had 8 degrees below 0. We have a bright, sunny, blue sky, and it looks deceptively warm outside!! It is supposed to get up to about 30 degrees here by either tomorrow or Thursday afternoon, and I would consider that a heat wave.

Currently -1 degree here, with the same deceptive clear blue sky.

That's because you're such a young lad.  The winters around here lately pale in comparison to the ones I endured at your age.  Twenty years ago this cold snap would've put us at -20 for lows.
