That is really cool! I wouldn't want to put up with it almost every winter like those people have to, but just one time I would like to experience that.

As for the busses, I think they found dug all the parts up from a dump somewhere and stuck them together to make those miserable busses. Almost nobody even rides them; I don't know why we even those the things.

Joe, there's a plate in the fridge for you to take to work.  Emmar,  cinnamon rolls w/raisins look pretty good for tomorrow.

Supper is on the warmer bar, and yes, there is banana pudding with graham cracker cust, and brownies for dessert tonight.

After I got posted earlier this afternoon, I decided to take a nap.  Only meant for it to be about 1/2 hour, 45 minutes.  Ended up sleeping for two hours!  Never even heard the train horns, and I usually always hear them from our bedroom window, even when it's closed this time of year.  Sad [:(]

Everyone have a good evening, and for those who work the late night shift, be extra careful out there on the roads.

Good afternoon, folks.  I'm back home now, have to go back next Wednesday at 10, for my test results (he had them draw blood  for blood work).  Got my flu shot, and already, my left arm is very sore.  Most unusual:  I've never had any soreness from a flu shot or any other kind of shot before.

Larry, thank you for taking care of lunch today.  Think I'll take a big bowl of chili (extra spicy) and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches (didn't eat breakfast this morning).  Most appreciated!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

For supper tonight, think I'll cook some cabbage to go with Emmar's corned beef hash, and fix some mashed taters smothered in butter, and cornbread.  Anyone have any requests for desserts tonight?

Well, they're letting us out of work early today, so while lunch may be a little late, I'll put up some fast and easy warm-up food:

Soups (your choice - this is a virtual diner)

BLTs

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Chili (extra seasoning available on request)

Hot Chocolate

....There will be minimum Valentine flowers delivered in our area today....Schools closed and we're still under emergency travel only orders.  {Delaware Co.}.

We'll be lucky to manage to walk out to the mail box for our paper and mail..{a bit later}.

This is the most from a storm since we had the massive blizzard of '77 when we were marooned at home here for about 5 days.  I don't know how much snow we received in the last 24 to 30 hours but it surely is well past the foot mark....probably more like 15" or so.  The winds have rearranged it to it's liking.  Up to 40 mph gusts late yesterday.

So for many of us in our addition {right outside Muncie}, we're here until we can get plowed out...{Driveways, etc...}.

Beautiful sunshine and clear skies this morning and 13.8 degrees right now...9:40 am.  The massive storm has passed on by us and heading east to continue to put down it's massive moisture.

And a COLD, FRIDGID good morning to everyone out there!

I just finished reading Tree's most recent post, and I can sympathize with firefighters who are having to deal with house fire under such miserable cold weather conditions.

Currently in Sioux Falls we have a temperature of 8 degrees below 0. I have noted that it is a bit warmer where Walt, Paula and Sarah are living. Louisville, Kentucky has a temp of 19 above 0. The wind in Louisville is out of the North, making it feel like 8 degrees. So you folks in Louisville had better bundle up and dress warm if you are going anywhere.

The location of my new job is right next to the mainline of the Ellis & Eastern Railroad, which is owned by Concrete Materials, Inc. I was able to watch an Ellis & Eastern train roll through yesterday morning while I was hauling garbage out to the dumpsters at Wendy's. And if it were not so cold out there, I would stand and count the number of clueless idiots who ignore the flashing red lights at the crossing and try to beat the train down to the very last second.

Schools are all closed.  Not much snow yet, but the wind has made its presence known.  We're not supposed to see the "heavy" snow until a little later.  Pretty miserable outside now.

And, as I was on my way to work, several fire departments were dispatched to a confirmed house fire.  Great day for it.

Matt - Thanks for the little candy hearts.  Always a favorite.  I'll save some of my fries for you later.

Good Freezing Cold Wednesday morning!  We are at 15, 16 degrees above zero, but we managed to avoid all the snow, etc.  (I think.)  Still dark outside here, so I can't really tell.  And I haven't heard what our windchill is,this morning.  Gonna have to really bundle up for my doctor's appt. this morning at 11. So, will need one or two of you to take over for me for lunch today.

Mookie, glad to see you managed to make it in, this morning.

On the warmer bar, you'll find:  turkey bacon, sausage patties & links, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, grits, toast.  And I can't forget Mookie's "beagels" this morning.

Of course, the coffee is ready, along with hot water for tea and cocoa, and I've made hot chocolate, as well.

Everyone have a good day, stay dry, warm and safe.

I heard through the train-vine that a certain chicken would be in the Big O here in the true midwest.  He was visiting Uncle Pete's new big building!

I set up a chicken blind on the gravel road he travels on between home and the east (the really long one that crosses our entire state really fast!

Sat out there in the cold and snow and suffered in silence.  Late yesterday afternoon, I looked down for only a moment to see if snowsuit was buttoned completely and Zoom.....missed again!

But he did holler over his shoulder - "I am on my way home to see Boss Hen and the Barking Doorbells!"

My money sez he will probably poke his beak in here later this morning or early pm.

Curses!  Foiled again!

Mad Mook!

Good thing we've got a microwave here to reheat stuff....

The snow hasn't started here yet, but we're showing it on radar, so it can't be long.  They were forecasting midnight anyhow.

For now the problem is the wind - chill factor in the -20 range.  Came up on an accident tonight (it was being dispatched as I pulled up - and it wasn't even my area).  Checking on the drivers was cold work.

The forecast is in the 10-15" range by Thursday night.  Sounds like the ol' snowblower is going to get a workout.

Time for bed.
