SNOWDAY!
There's actually not a whole lot of need for it as most areas only got 3 or 4 inches of snow, but the wind is really drifting it and I think that's why they ended up cancelling school.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. Ray, thanks for the chocolate chip recipe. Looks like the one I use (and yes, I've also started using the Crisco sticks when I make cookies). Emmar, come on into the kitchen with me this afternoon, and we'll do a whirlwind cookie making session, around 1 p.m.
On the warmer bar, you will find: bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, beagles (uh, I mean bagels), bear claws, cinnamon rolls, and country fried ham w/red eye gravy.
I hope all our friends to the north of us, are doing all right, as far as this latest round of snow, is concerned.
I'll be back after I get through with Tuesday Produce. Sure hope they bring something besides potatoes and watermelons. The watermelons they brought in last week, looked like they were frozen, so I didn't get one. And the potatoes already had sprouts on them.
Everyone have a great morning, and stay dry and warm, please.

I'll take on the job of baking cookies. I will have to try the mint chip idea.
That sounds like a good twist on the classic cookie and thanks for the hint about he crisco.
Maybe I can be the new beginner cook.

CP2816's CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE
If anyone wants to go to work in the Diner's kitchen tomorrow and bake chocolate chip cookies, here is my recipe.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2 1/2 C. Flour
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 Large Eggs
2/3 C. Granulated Sugar
1 C. Brown Sugar - Firmly Packed
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 Stick of Crisco Shortening (I use the yellow shortening that resembles butter, it makes for a better cookie.)
1/2 C. Chocolate Chips, or as Tree suggested once, Mint Chips
Bake at 375 degrees for EXACTLY 10 minutes.
You should get about 2 and a half dozen 3" cookies out of this recipe.

Well, I survived my first three hour shift working for Wendy's today. At first it was a bit bewildering, but when I had finished at 2:00 this afternoon, "Al" told me that I had done good. Al and my supervisor had me doing a little bit of almost everying, and I am good at finding things to do, which gave my supervisor reason to smile. I am kind of looking forward to going back to Wendy's to work another shift tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota is under a snow advisory for the next several hours and we could be getting as much as two to four inches of fresh snow by early tomorrow morning. We got about a half an inch of the white stuff last night. I'm getting awfully tired of winter, but I think that spring will eventually arrive here in the Dakotas.........in about fifteen thousand years!!!
I am getting ready to ship a care package to my sister who lives out in Gillette, Wyoming, and have been busy in my kitchen baking chocolate chip cookies. I might share my chocolate chip cookie recipe with everyone else out there in a seperate post. Anyone who would like a cookie fresh from the oven is welcome to drop in at my house!

Well, the first round here last night didn't give us much at all- just a dusting. Tonight they're forecasting 3 to 6 inches by the time it ends tomorrow afternoon for the second round. We shall see.
BTW, had an e-mail exchange with Chad Thomas- he sends his regards. Very busy lately.

We're actually down on snow this year - I've had substantially more than that here in the past. Were I a little younger, I wouldn't even have bothered with the snowblower for what I did last night, but I've got it, so what the heck?
Ms Mook - 133" isn't the highest in the area. The article from the Albany Times-Union mentions around 12 feet in the Redfield area.
DF, was your friend in Illinois--the Land of Lincoln?

I was talking with a friend on the phone just a little bit ago. He was at home, not at work, and I didn't understand why. I thought maybe he was sick or something. Instead, he informed me that today is a holiday. Like a dolt, I didn't think to ask him what holiday it is. I know that it isn't Valentine's Day - that's on Wednesday. But whatever holiday it happens to be:
Happy Holiday!!!

Got some more pork chop abracadbra and mixed veggies (didn't have any stew veggies at the store) on the warmer bar for tonight's supper. Have a few plates in the fridge, with names on them, for those who work the late night shift.
It has now started to rain here. Hopefully, rain is all we'll get. And we'll try to make sure that rain is all that goes on north and north/northeast, as well as northwest.
Everyone have a great evening, and stay as warm and dry as possible.
CW need a plate for work tonight and will keep bob and nance in our prayers.Larry i have a brother and aunt that now live in florida and have no desire to come back to ohio in winter.weather service is still not sure how much snow we are to get but the temprature is warming up so the salt can work better on it.

As promised -
At my house:
I cleaned out the driveway last night - there was about 4" of light, fluffy stuff there from the morning's snowfall.
At Redfield, NY:
Credit the Albany Times-Union for this particular image and story.
As a sidebar - my mother was born in Redfield. That doesn't mean her family lived there when she was born - that's where she was born. She now lives in Phoenix, AZ and has no desire to move back north. Wonder why.....
I was just thinking about them the other day. Must have jiggled something. Sorry to hear about Bob. It is getting close to spring, so he must get better so we can do some more virtual train watching! The elders must stick together.

Chris - that's why 4 legs are better than two. You can hobble better!
Joe - you bet! I am going to yell my fur off this summer when it is so hot I can't breathe. The weather is just like politics - I will never understand or like either one! But at least with the weather I can keep track of Willy!
133 inches of snow - that is obscene!
Hmmph!
afternoon.
Dan congrats on the new job.Chris sorry to hear about your ankle.I have an air cast here if you need it.Willy dont take our complaining about the weather so bad.by july we'll be complaining about the heat too.
Okay, everyone, lunch is now being served on the warmer bar!! Hope you all enjoy it!!!!
Willy, just set the machine for MILD SPRING. Then, step away from it!!
It looks like I'm getting mixed reviews with the weather machine these days. I'm on Dan and Datafever's good side, but on the bad side of everyone else. For everyone who doesn't want the snow... I'll see what I can do with all of those buttons and knobs, but I'm afraid it might be coming, no matter what.
Omaha is forecast to get 3 to 6 inches of snow tonight; probably not enough for a snowday tomorrow. Pity. However, it's not all that bad since Friday is a day off anyway.
Good morning, everyone. Another gorgeous day today! Thanks Willy!
Chris, my sympathies on your ankle.
Mook, I was able to get a hold of my Beagle Cousin this morning and he agreed
to come over and be your "Blueberry Beagle" today!!
(He's into "punk Rock", and has his fur dyed "Blueberry" this month!!)
( Oh yeah, our Clair, Bruce and Quinn are very close to making a trip your way, won't be
too long now)
Ray, I forgot about you starting a New job today, Good Luck with it!
CHRIS!!!!!
Sorry to hear about your accident, take care and have a very swift healing.

CW,
Thanks for the offer. I've got a pair out here if I need them. The doctor said that I should be good without them as long as I wrap it and wear a pair of supportive shoes. That didn't seem the case yesterday, but today I'm doing much better. Thanks again!
