Yes, Larry, our thoughts and prayers are have already headed your way! Please stay safe!
Lance, not sure if we'll do any railfanning this weekend or not. Would be nice, if it'll just warm up a bit more around here!!
Our FRIDAY FISH FRY, evening edition, is now under way.
Everyone enjoy, and have a warm, safe evening!!

Well, since 1989 is on the point of the ski train again, I might try to get some shots of that out west of town (provided Willy doesn't fire up the Chinook Downslope Ground Blizzard maker again!). BTW, Willy, it sounds like you can shot off the Lake Effect machine, too. I think Tree and everybody has probably seen enough for the next 10 years or so!
Tree, seriously, hope everything works out back that way. I remember getting 4 feet in 2003, and can't even comprehend what it would be like back there right now. My thoughts and prayers are headed your way!

That can be a problem. Even the big rollover snowplows the highway departments use eventually get overwhelmed and they bring in the really big snowblowers...

Mutt, it was fun. You should try it and then maybe bury it outside for awhile. Anything for a little entertainment!
Mookie, Did you "bat" Brian's nose around just for the Hallibut?!?!
So Mookie, that means I have more to look forward to when I get older? No more headaches? That sounds like music to my ears, just like before I turned 21 to drink legally *grins*
I am feeling much better today though, I think it was from all the smoke in the air. People light their yard waste on fire here, and that triggers lots of migraines, and sinus headaches.

I think I'll pass on lunch today, I've lost my appetite along with my sense of smell. Now where did my nose get batted off to?
Spring is in full swing here. The tender green shoots of grass make the ground look vibrant. The budding trees are just begging for the opportunity to burst into full flower. We are getting a bit more rain, which is really great. I'll postpone my walk until later this afternoon, however.
Good morning, everyone.

We may have to send out the search parties for Tree and LC....
btw...Our snow has melted to the point the grass has surfaced after a seven week absence. The local rabbits, prairie dogs, geese, deer and antelope have been on starvation rations.
Bob, that's a good one, and funny, too
For our FRIDAY FISH FRY we have:
1. Catfish
2. Cod
3. Hallibut
4. Perch
And our side dishes will be corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies and cole slaw.
Desserts will be: apple pie, cherry pie, pecan pie, chocolate cream pie, and chocolate cake.
Beverages: sweetened ice tea, unsweetened ice tea, sodas, coffee, and milk: plain, chocolate and strawberry.
Everyone enjoy your lunch, and have a good time!!
Good Friday morning to one and all! Think we got down to 13 overnight, but the windchill was 0 degrees.
Ray, thank you for making fresh juice this morning.
On the warmer bar, you will find: turkey bacon, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and I'll fix up western omelettes, is anyone wants one, and there are some doughnuts also. Along with bear claws (paws).
Everyone have a great morning, and I'll be back in around 11, with the lunch/supper menu.
Larry been watching thats alot of snow up there.
mookie has a bumper sticker on millie that says"My other car is a BIG BOY"
Ray yes always glad to share information and watch trains too.some people are friendly and some people just want some quiet time.I dont always take train pictures.last summer at Deshler I took a picture of 2 boys and the one that didn't get away.

Well, once again it looks like I am the first one in the Diner this morning. I've got the coffee brewing, the hot chocolate is ready and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. I will let CW or someone else take care of serving breakfast this morning.
Right now we have a temperature of 2 degrees above 0 on the frozen tundra of South Dakota, and with the wind out of the NW at 9 mph, we have a wind chill factor of 11 below 0. I'm going to see my barber later this morning and that will entail walking a couple miles, hopefully it will warm up here a bit.
I have never had anyone approach me and ask me what I am doing when I am watching trains, but I kind of think that if you have to opportunity to share your enthusiasm for the hobby with a stranger, sometimes it's worth it. Especially if you can share any historical information with them.

So much to say - so little time....
Chris - I get very excited in drive-thru's - so can see how it could happen.
Tree - I thought the 21 inches we got many years ago was a barnburner. 7 feet and more "feet" to come! Unbelieveable. Any chance that may swing to the north? Maybe you should fill in that big lake with dirt?
Nighttrain - I suffered with migraines periodically for years and they were always sinus related. I found that if I didn't "smell" really strong scents (perfume, oil paint, cleaning products, etc, I could avoid them. But sometimes I would forget and be "retrained" immediately. Old age hath its upside - no more migraines!
I was tickled pink (see avatar) yesterday. We were watching trackside as is our usual thing right after work. A young man (late 20's) stopped by and told us he sees us there quite frequently since he works in the area, so had to ask what we were doing.
That is the 2nd time someone has asked and so we gleefully tell them what and why - maybe drumming up future fans. He said he asked a train crew person what he thought we were doing. No clue was the answer. I told him it is a hobby - like fishing or bowling - but then thought later - I have done both and no one ever asked me what I was doing (except the Driver when I snagged a tree or made a gutter ball again!)
I think this goes back to Tina's observation that the Midwest is really a friendly, comfortable place where people will stop and visit or inquire.
Well, I think a beagle sounds good - will push Tree's "bearpaw" into the warmer. That's politically correct, you know.

....Larry: This sounds like snow is in a position to challenge the structures of roofs, etc...8 ft...! Building can't hold that kind of weight.

Indeed - discussed drugs last night (I prefer "medications," the word "drugs" has so many negative connotations these days). The scary part about the class is that there are only two of us actually recerting - the other two are there because they didn't do well enough on their first attempt at ALS. There were 20 some of us when I first stepped up from BLS to ALS provider.
The daytime class is about our new trunked radio system at work. Using them is relatively easy. Setting one up in the first place is a real pain in the.....
Special notice to the DD&CS Fire Brigade: Oswego County, NY has declared a state of emergency due to their continuing snow event. They are looking for fire crews to do 12 hour shifts in relief of their tired fire departments.
They are well on their way to 8 feet of snow in some places - the lake snow event started last weekend is is still going strong.

Chris, Very Glad you weren't injured; maybe said future driver was taking the term "Drive -Through" very literally, and trying to "Drive-Through"!!
(although, I can definitely see where it would shake one's faith in such an institution!)
Chris
