Advance order for half a cow, medium-rare please!
Happy Anniversary Walt & Paula....
Willy - Just saw the weather guesser's advance report on Tuesday's weather. Just how in the heck am I supposed to get back to Denver from O-Town?
Good Wednesday morning to one and all! Thanks to each of you for your anniversary wishes to Walt and me. I'm enjoying my day off, so far, this morning. Slept until 8:30, and Walt woke up at 9. At 12 noon, EST, it will officially be our 20th wedding anniversary! Maybe for our 25th, we'll renew our vows again. We did that for our 10th .
Mookie, don't worry about messing up the icing on the cake. I need to cut calories, anyway!!
Got to run to the store, and find some steak and sour cream, so we can have steak, & baked potatoes for our supper tonight. See you all later!!
Good Morning All,
First off, Happy Anniversary to Walt and Paula!!! Congratulations, and may you have many more happy years to come!
I can't stick too long in here. I've got to go to yet another meeting (for some reason, I've been doing nothing but attending meetings this week). I'll try to drop in in a bit.
Hope you all have a great day!

Joe - I am memorizing your list of the Great Lakes you sent me: Tree is now Tree-O, Joe is Erie Joe, Up Mich is Superior, there is Heron between Mich and his Can, and I was within blocks of Lake Michigan at Brother Carl's and it was so cold and windy that day, I will never forget Lake Michigan! Fixed it for you.
Just remember the lines from Field Of Dreams- "Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa!"
Well, I'm back to work, but not because I want to be just yet- still dealing with throbbing sinuses. Hopefully that will subside as the week wears on.

Hmmm - cake, cookies, mints, silverware, beverages, kitty litter, napkins, pizza, popcorn
Yeah - we are ready. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALL AND POLO.... something doesn't look quite right here.
Well, the cake looks sorta nice. Wish I hadn't licked so much of the frosting - it would have covered the cake better, especially where the hole in the side is.....(tasting is a must!) Well, will brush it all off with my built in feather duster..... Ah....very nice.
Willy - consider yourself "pawed" - and just be glad I didn't kick with all four feet. Your weather is just awful. I really think you should maybe look at being (well not an astrounaut) well, maybe just a good science teacher. Could use a good geography teacher right now.
Will collect all my info people have given me and go look at a nap. (will sleep on the atlas)
Lest I forget about a great couple in Louisville, Kentucky,
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO LOCOMUTT AND CHEROKEE WOMAN!!!
20 years together is quite a mile stone to consider, in this day and age a lot of marriages never last very long.

Good morning everyone.
It appears that I am the first one in the Diner this morning, so I will take charge of serving breakfast.
On the menu for this morning: oatmeal, english muffins, blueberry pancakes, waffles & old fashioned Canadian Maple Syrup, bacon, sausage links and scrambled eggs. I've put the hot chocolate out, the coffee is ready and I have just finished mixing up a fresh batch of orange juice.
At the present moment here in my home town we have a temperature of 0, and fortunately there is no wind right now, although it isn't going to get much warmer than this today. I will be headed for a job interview with one of our Wendy's hamburger joints at 10:00 this morning, and I am hoping that they will offer me employment, I've been out of work way too long.

Happy Anniversary to Locomutt and CW!
Congratulations on 20 years!!!
Thanks for the garlic bread. It is one of my favorite foods!
Congradulations to Walt and Paula on 20 happy years.
Might I suggest waffles with some good Canadian maple syrup for breakfeast tommorrow.

Everyone take care.
(at our age, anything can happen though!!)

[Actually, the "Cat Was Out of The Bag" when CW announced what she had gotten me/us for this
event sometime back.]
Sorry I couldn't help with lunch - in class all day and couldn't get away. Same for the rest of the week.
Ms Mook - You found my tiny dot of a community? It's not even on some maps! A bit of history - if you look up toward the St Lawrence River from my place, you'll find Clayton - a place where the rich and famous would arrive via Pullman to board a steamer (the station was right on the shore) to head for the big hotels in the 1000 Islands! (Count the islands carefully - there are over 1700!)
As for Michigan - There are really two "thumbs," Although the Keewenaw Peninsula (in the UP) isn't usually referred to as such. I've always thought that the Traverse Bay area kind of looked like a little finger.
Just off the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Lake Michigan (near Grand Traverse Bay) are Big Manitou and Little Manitou Islands. They are sometimes called Big Bear and Little Bear. Indian legend has it that a mother bear and her two cubs were swimming in Lake Michigan when the two little ones went under. Mama swam ashore and lay on the beach watching for the cubs. Eventually the sand drifted over her.
If you can find Walled Lake (the body of water, although the city is right there, too) in SE MI you may find Apple Island - where Chief Pontiac is said to be buried.
While you're looking at MI, see if you can figure out where Canada is south of the US....
Today's geography lesson brought to you by the letters H O M E and S.
Ok, spaghetti with lots of sauce, home-made chocolate chip ice cream, and some of those fudge brownies for me. What a feast!
I am certainly glad that Jim came in and made a rule against kicking. That wasn't very nice of Mookie. Maybe this will make her happier: snow on Thursday; maybe up to 2 or 3 inches of it. Then, more snow next week along with a continuation of the nice cold temperatures.
Joe - I'll try to turn the snow away from you guys and aim it at somone else. I think the cold temperatures are going to have to stay though.
I'm off to do some homework. TTFN.
Willy
I am also providing dessert tonight, 5 gallons of home-made vanilla/chocolate chip ice cream and a couple pans of chocolate fudge brownies. Yum, yum!
You got it, Ray! I'll take a small plate of spaghetti, please, with a slice of garlic bread. And thank you!!

You're welcome to seconds, Lance. There will be plenty of my spaghetti sauce to go around.
CW, I made a pretty large kettle of my spaghetti sauce, knowing that there would be plenty of people in and out of the Diner for both lunch and dinner. And I just checked out the contents of the kettle and there is still plenty left. All we need to do is throw some more pasta into some boiling water. I will bring in a couple extra loaves of garlic bread pretty soon.
...Jen....I'll handle Pennsylvania for you since it's my home state.
A pretty long one...about 350 miles worth. Several larger cities with Philadelphia on east end {have a niece there}, and former steel town, Pittsburgh over in the western sector.
Old Pennsylvania RR spanned the length of it at one time and most of it's ROW was 4 tracks wide....{across the state}.
Our home section {Somerset County}, in southwestern part also hosted The B&O RR and it hauled coal out of countless valleys....and it's modern version {CSX} still does in many locations.
Johnstown, {Another former steel town, 20 miles from home} famous for it's 1889 massive flood that took the lives of over 2000 people hosts the through {old Pa. RR}, east - west line now owned by NS. Still lots of trains...and to get through they must drag up and around famous Horseshoe Curve near Altoona. Opened in 1854.
Believe that's enough for now that you may now consult your map and take a look....By the way....Little home town was Stoystown....{pop. 450}....Still about the same.
Hey Jim, welcome back!! You really should drop in more often, Buddy! And thank you for the early anniversary wish, also. I'm not sure that my new jacket would accomodate both of us, Jim. With me bundled up, then putting it on, there's barely room for me.But it does keep me toasty warm!!
Well, I didn't make it to my dr.'s appt.; had to cancel, due to sinuses draining down into my stomach. But i rescheduled, and will go next Wednesday, Valentine's Day. Instead, went back to bed, and woke up about 12:40. Then, swept snow off our steps and sidewalk; then Mutt put down ice/snow melt.
Joe and Ray, thanks for taking care of lunch duty for me. You are both very helpful.
Jim, I'll take the day off tomorrow. I may pop in a couple of times, though, just to see how everything is going. And to say "Hi!" to everyone. Don't think we're going to celebrate until over the weekend, though. That will give us more time, to go out to eat, and do whatever else we plan to do.
Joe and Ray, did you by chance, make enough for us to have for supper tonight? If not, I'll make some hamburgers and fried taters for supper.

That hurt! Jim should come in and make a rule against kicking. Now that I have that cleared up, I would like to wish CW and Locomutt an early Happy Anniversary. The weather remains nice and cold here in Omaha and is expected to remain about the same for the next week. Chances of light snow are tonight, Friday, and Sunday or Monday. Still no big storms in sight though. Everyone have a good week!

Ok, boys and girls, PLAY NICE. Just because I got kicked out of a McDonald for starting a food fight (years ago of course) doesn't mean everyone can follow in my footsteps and start stuff. Willy, I am sure it was not on purpose, Mook just wouldn't do that. So I am sure it won't happen again.
I will be happy to give the cook a day off if she wants it, but I am betting she won't take the day off. Some people just love their job. :-)
Is anyone ready to shoot the ground hog? Today our weather is almost 60 (been a while since we have seen that) but going back down into the icebox for another week or so. I wonder if that new coat is big enough for two to get in, I am kinda cold. ;-)
Some of you know that my parents were without power for over a week. So I finally was able to buy them a generator and get someone to take care of installing it for them. (They are in Missouri and I am in Arkansas.) Just as they pulled up at the farm to install it for them the power came back on. We had been told just the day before that it would be at least another week before they had power. Oh well, they have a nice new generator which now will probally never be used. :-(
Well that is all the news that is news.
I'm back from visiting the doctor and the pharmacist, and have taken my first dose of Amoxicillin. About two inches of fresh snow here- didn't see any accidents or people in the ditch, thank God.
Time for a nap...
