//Hobbles into Diner.

Morning All. Well, in my efforts to get back into shape, I managed to sprain an ankle. Saturday morning I went out for a jog. The trail by my house was still kind of iffy (lots of icy spots thanks to the freeze/thaw cycles we've been having) so I ended up on the road. In the last 300 feet or so to my house, I decided to open the throttle up and sprint a little bit. Lo and behold, I managed to catch a broken spot of asphalt just right and turned my ankle all the way in. I went down hard, and got some nice road rash to match on my hands and left knee. Thankfully, it was close to home, and I was able to hobble back.

The second day was indeed the worst, and I didn't do much of anything yesterday because of it (so much for grand plans of shooting 1989 up by Tunnel No. 1). Thankfully, today I seem to have better range of motion and less pain. The doctor said it should be fairly useable within a couple weeks, so I've just got to keep it taped up, elevated and such until then. That'll teach me to try to get in shape, eh?

Anyways, glad to hear that you didn't get the snow like some folks did, Tree. Still hope that things start winding down and they can start getting things cleared up out that way. As for snow, Emma, I don't mind some. Personally, excluding really great autumn foliage, I think under a nice fresh layer of snow is the prettiest way to see the world. Of course, what remains of our snow is starting to look pretty cruddy, so some new stuff might be nice.

Well, I must be on my way. Hope you all have a great one!

TTFN!

EDIT: Shoot, forgot to mention "Congratulations!" and "Good luck!" to Dan and Ray on the new jobs. Hope all goes well for you both.

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Sorry about getting in here so late, but . . . sleeping was just sooooo goood.

Dan, congrats on the promotion!  Yeah!! [yeah]Thumbs Up [tup]  Ray, good luck today, on starting your new job!!

On the warmer bar, you will find turkey bacon, sausage, western omelettes, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, oatmeal and toast.

Willy, I think maybe you should turn your weather machine towards the west coast, and let things kind of get back to "normal" for the midwest and eastern areas of the country!  Looks like several people are getting displeased with your weather machine!

For lunch and dinner/supper today, I've got pork chop abracadbra on in the Crock Pots.  What veggies would you all like to have with them?  Taking suggestions/requests for the veggies today.  Would anyone like to have "stew veggies"  cooked with the pork chops?

Congratulations to Dan in his new job!Thumbs Up [tup] Later this morning I will begin my new job, working in the kitchen at Wendy's. It should be interesting.

This morning in Sioux Falls we have a gray, cloudy overcast sky, and the temperature here is 18 degrees ABOVE 0. That's certainly a lot better than -18 below. Much of the southeastern portion of South Dakota is under a snow advisory, and our chances of getting snow will increase as the day wears on.......but spring will eventually arrive (about 12,000 years from now), we just gotta be patient!Banged Head [banghead]

Tree:  Dump on Sarah!

Had a rested weekend.  Went to watch the trains roll by on Sat and Sun.  Sun, they didn't roll so much, so we both got a nap!  This weather will make you nap!  This week will try many patience, but next weekend looks to be a little nicer.  Just be glad you aren't in Oswego CO NY.

Have a note from the Sat paper - Citizen of Lincoln models HO scale CBQ railroad.  He also named his children - Clair, Bruce and Quinn - ..............think about it.

That will require a nap.  Back for blueberry beagle, later.

I'm a bit dissapointed, I guess I should of expectes little snow, comming from Pennsylvania. Hehehe. I'm not looking for "Cheap O Snow" I'm looking for snow that sticks. Big Smile [:D]

Well, if we don't get the snow, there's no since in it being cold anymore, so it needs to warm up. lol

Just a question of sanity, but why would you want snow?  I would think that all of the stories on here about the snow would keep anyone from hoping for snow.

Gotta love winter.  I wish we'd get some more of that snow stuff I hear that everyone else is getting.  I guess I can survive w/o it for a while yet.

On a happier note I got a job offer on Friday of last week which I accepted.  As of 3/1 I'll go to work for the first time in 12 years without wearing a Lifeguard suit!  I'll be the Assistant Lifestyle Center Director at the Y.  A step up in money, better hours, and benefits.  First time I'll have benefits in...7 years or so.

Took the picture, but haven't done the download/upload thing yet.  We're actually getting some snow here, with up to 10" promised, but that's nothing compared to the folks down south of us.  North Redfield has the unofficial high, with something like 125".

Of course, the way snowfall is measured doesn't really reflect how much is on the ground.  Official measurements are taken every 6 hours - but the snow can (and does) compact, so what was measured as 24" may now only be 16".  But 11 feet of snow is 11 feet of snow.  Even if it compacts by a third, thats nearly 8 feet...

Ah, winter....

Evening everyone......

Willy, would you please meet Brian, Walt, Quentin, Joe, and myself out behind the woodshed? We have something we'd like to discuss with you.......

Weather people saying 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight in the Mad City, then more snow Tuesday into Wednesday, with a shot of cold air behind it again.  Has not gotten above thirty for three weeks or so, looks like we will continue the trend for at least a week and a half.

I'll take a plate for dinner tonight, CW.  See everyone later....

We've got a Winter Storm Watch issued for southeast Iowa, including Cedar Rapids (we're on the north edge) for tomorrow evening and Tuesday morning- 5 to 9 inches from that, plus another disturbance will be dropping 3 to 5 inches of snow on northeast Iowa tonight and tomorrow morning, so we're getting some of both.

....Joe and Walt:

And now we really don't quite know what to think since watching a round of news, etc....in the last hour, some of them are even sounding worse now.  Up to 16" and 30 mph winds...!  Oh, yea...turning "cold" with it or right after it.  So, really....right now I do not know what to believe.  Must hold off until we see some evidence of which way it "really is going to track"...If farther south, we'll miss out on some of the extremes but some say it "is" tracking north far enough to cover our total state area....Right now It's pretty uncertain.

Willy....Do you have the range with your controls to move that "Low" a bit farther south as it passes our neck of the woods.....If so hit the button.  It should work as my watch listens to signals from Colorado each night to keep it accurate.  So give it a try.

Walt, it sounds like the ice part might be down your way and up to I-70 down in Indy here......and snow up here....who knows...??

Joe, there are a couple of plates for you in the fridge (with your name on them, as always).

And there is more of everything on the warmer bar for tonight.  Espeefoamer, got you covered on everything, including the peach pie ala mode!!

Lance, there's a covered plate with your name on it, in the fridge also, for work tonight.  Just don't forget to get it.
