Good Morning

they said it would rain. They said it would thunderstorm. They said it would...but nothing happened. Not even a sprinkle bit showed...even though we were surrounded by green on the radar...we got through without a dang dribble.

Welcome to DroughtVille....Grumpy....wherein one can has barrels of heat and humidity...yesterday we got to 95F feeling like 110F...and see nothing come of it....BUT!! The weatherguessers are still calling for rain today...at 60% chance...Grumpy

Oh...and another piece of 'wonderful' news...my waist is now at 24"...at 138lbs....dang chemo aftershock....Surprise

Today?

Staying indoors, out of the heat and humidity we are seeing today...high of 85F feeling like 104F....and trying to get some more ballasting done for the new yard....

Have a good day all!!!

Quentin - I use a program called "LView Pro."  It's the nag-ware version, but I'm not even sure it's around any more.  I've been "carrying" this copy from computer to computer for several years.

It's a pretty handy program, allowing crops and resizes (especially handy for web work) as well as other adjustments.  You can try a search for it.

Of course, there are other image editing programs available, ranging from quite rudimentary to pro-quality, such as Chris undoubtedly uses.

Somewhat faster for the moment would probably be using MS Paint.  Once you get the image open in Paint, you can select a portion of it, then slide the selected portion up into the upper left corner.

Once you've accomplished that, look in the far lower right corner of the image (you might have to move the sliders if the image is too large to fit in the window all at once) for a little blue dot.  Put your cursor on the dot and you should see a double sided arrow.  Click on it and slide it up to the lower right corner of your desired image.  Save it (maybe with a new name?) and use it as desired.

If the image is too big to see all that you want to crop at once, select "view" and "zoom" at the top of the screen, then select a reduction (75%, 50%, etc) that lets you see what you want.

With Paint you can also do bit-by-bit changes to the image and add words if you're so inclined.

.....Good Morning all.  The sun just broke thru the clouds and is shining in my eastern window here in the home office.

Blownout Cylinder....I sure send my wishes of you soon to be complete with your Chemo....and with positive results...

Rain....Would you believe we actually did get some....Some, not much, but we'll take all we can get.

Rain gauge indicates we've had .03" in the past 24.  Some late last evening and a bit overnight.  Must of had some wind overnight too, as one of the 3 Hibicus flower pots...pretty heavy, was laying on it's side this morning.

I believe even that amount of rain will allow me to get on the yard with my tractor Monday and at least even up the yard....Still very sparse in some areas, but it was fertilized early this week, and with even this amount of moisture, I'm sure it will make a difference.  Didn't want to run the tractor over the parched dry lawn before we got some rain.

It is 6 to 8" long where the downspouts put out what mositure we do get, but sparse where there is no shade or moisture...But even this small amount of rain will make a difference.

Church in less than 2 hrs., than Sunday meal out somewhere with Jean's niece / nephew as we do each Sunday.  They are here in their small home they purchased to stay up here in the Summer from their place in Florida.

Q - Hopefully that'll do you some good.

The weather that Carl saw yesterday is scheduled to arrive here this afternoon.  Buffalo and environs is enjoying it right now.

I live just outside the watch box, but I'm sure we'll see a little rain, anyhow.  Lake Ontario does have a tendence to moderate such storms, though, oftimes reducing a rip-roarin' terror to a gentle rain, if that.  With today's heat and humidity, though, things could get interesting.

We had rain this morning, around 8:40:  I had just gotten over around the corner, to get in the Church van, and it actually poured on us:  after I got home from Church, mentioned it to Walt, and he said that all we got here was a little bit of drizzle.  And we had a little shower a little bit ago. Current temp is 81 degrees, don't know what heat index or humidity is right now.ryone h

For our Sunday Dinner:

1.  BLTS w/fries and garden salad

2.  Fried chicken w/mashed taters, milk gravy, green beans or broccoli spears in butter sauce, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits and garden salad

3.  Broiled or grilled t-bone steaks w/any of the side dishes from #2

Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you in the morning.

Yep.  A little rain.  That's all we got - .17" per my guage.  Some areas just south and east got more (including a flash flood warning), but not here.

Well, I understand our Willy Sedlaeck needs our thoughts and prayers; seems he's in the hospital with a collasped lung.  His Mom posted on Facebook letting everyone know, and he posted later that he was doing OK, but  according to doctors, would be there 2 or 3 days.

Larry, I know what you are saying about controlling a photo in "Paint", but it seems I've never been able to control a photo in "my" Paint.  For some reason, my Paint can not..{or I can not with Paint},  move the photo around as you describe.

I've been trying for a day or so using Paint, without any success.

Somehow I will get it done, but no success yet...and I did find the program, you mentioned, yes it's still there, but I've not tried to work thru that yet.

Good Monday morning all.  Don't know why, unless it is due to the cold front coming in, but woke up with a little bit of a headache.  Other than that, feeling pretty well this morning.  Will be keeping our Willy in my prayers, as always, as I do all the rest of you here.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the breakfast bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care , and will be back in later.

Not much of a NASCAR fan (to paraphrase the old saw about hockey - "what if they had an accident an a race broke out?"), but a friend does pit crew for an ARCA team that races at Pocono.  That car suffered an engine failure during the prelims and went home early this time.

I'm sure he'll have a comment about the lightning incident there after the race.

Maybe I got my graphics programs crossed up.  Try doing a copy and paste instead - then the rest of the steps.  Or highlight and copy, then paste in a new file.

....There was not much that could be done any other way with the Nascar race that was stopped yesterday.  Torrential rains poured down and more than half the race had been put behind them, and anytime the race can't be continued, within reason, that qualifies as a race.

All teams have the same access to weather radar, etc....so that should not be an issue of the end result as everyone basically had the same chance to treat the race {at the time the rain was nearing}, and do what they could to be in a good position.

Gordon has had a big "monkey" on his back for an extended time now, and for once, he was fortunate to be in the lead at the time the race was called.  It was his "time" to "take" the win.

Even if they would have waited longer before calling the race....the track doesn't have lights....and a 2.5 mi. track woud really take time to dry....It was seen {I imagine that the weather was going to continue}, and not much chance of getting the full 400 mi. in.

Mutt, at least she does not make you eat.

Back when I was young (I do not remember just when), I was eating the mid-day meal (which we called "dinner") at my grandparents house Among the people present was a missionary friend of theirs who was home on furlough. Among the items on the table was a dish of boiled okra, which was not the most desirable in my estimation, and I declined the mess.No The missionary insisted that I eat at least one pod--and no one in the family came to my defense. At least, the built-in roller bearings did not help bring the pod back up.

CW, add me to the asparagus list and bury mine in the backyard.

76 for some reason in Carolina with partly clear skies. The low country is getting a right smart of much needed rain at present, but nothing here yet.

Yep! At least I don't suffer from that.  My Mom and sister would eat it, but my Dad refused it also.

Get CW to tell "Her" story about cauliflower. Apparently when she was "young" her dad forced her to eat said veggie. She even hates for me to fix it in our kitchen.(says she can't stand the smell!)

[I LOVE Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts & Broccoli & Cabbage.][she hates the smell of all.]

Just an off the wall remark here, this should be my 5,000th post on the Trains Forum....not looking for any praises or anything, just thought I'd remark on that fact.

Good Tuesday morning all.  Temps are in the upper 60s, low 70s here in Louisville this morning.  Going for a seasonable high of 93 this afternoon, with lower humidity.  That will be nice.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is also ready:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, bear claws, and, if you'd like to make your own BLTs, lettuce and sliced tomatoes.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all this afternoon.  Going to start getting myself ready for the Tuesday Produce idgits.
