All the nasty stuff is staying down along the PA/NY border, with a possible tornado in Elmira. We will probably see more rain overnight (a good thing) but they don't have us in the high threat area.
The folks in the NYC Metro area are battening down the hatches, though. Per TWC, the utilities are calling people in and the parks are making campers leave.

Good Friday morning all. Our temp is in the low 70s this morning: actually woke up sometime through the night, to the sound of a gentle rain hitting the A/C unit. Sure did make for some good sleeping. Supposed to get somewhere in the upper 80s this afternoon, maybe 90, 91 degrees. Not supposed to be as humid either.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And there is a nice selection of doughnuts, danish, muffins, bagels, bear claws on the breakfast bar, along with bacon, sausage, biscuits, and fried eggs.

Afternoon all. Looks like things have been fairly slow in here today. We are currently at 94 degrees, heat index is 96. Did manage to get a walk in earlier, left around 11 a.m., and was back home about 1:15 or so. I have even manged to do a little bit of house, and I've even managed to walk around to a neighbor's house, and visit with her for a little bit. She's waiting for her two little grandsons (ages 4 & 2) to get off the bus from Day Care.
Our Friday Fish Fry is ready and on the warmer/serving bar: all the regular fish menu, side dishes menu and dessert menu. Also have plenty of ice cold beverages to wet your whistle and and help cool yourself down.

Good Saturday morning all. After some thunderstorms rolling through last night, things have cleared out this morning, leaving a lot of people picking up storm debris, damage to homes from lightning strikes, etc. Fortunately, none of those problems here at our home.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And on the breakfast bar for our Saturday Morning Brunch this morning:
Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, strawberry muffins, chocolate chip muffins, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, cantaloupe, watermelon, kiwi, papaya, grapes, cereal and toast.
Everyone have a very good day, take care, and see you all this evening. I'll be getting in the kitchen in a little bit, to start fixing my brownies for tomorrow.

I had some purple slippers very close to those and wore them for warmth. Back when the payment for the paper was still made at the door, i opened the door in them. He could barely get the card punched he was so busy looking at my slippers!
I slept in an extra 1/2 hour and the wildlife went nuts! We have long downspouts and they kept banging into them chasing each other; something hit the bedroom screen - softly, but since it is 2nd floor, it was kind of unusual. And a crow kept letting me know he wanted a peanut - at the top of his lungs!

The first house I lived in after finishing my formal education had four porches--front, north side, back, and south side. Access to the north and south porches was through windows that came all the way to the floor. The next house had a front porch that went around to one side, but no back porch. Now, my house has no porch at all.

Afternoon all. It has been a beautiful day here in Louisville. Not much going on around here: Sarah is sleeping (she didn't get in from work until about 11:30, 12 noon), Walt is watching /listening to an Andy Griffith marathon on TVLand. I've had a nap, and have been out on our front porch. We don't have a big one, but this house is the first I've ever lived that had a porch. It isn't big, but at least its big enough for a glider, and we can still get in/out the front door. One of these days, I'll take a picture of it, and post it here.
Haven't checked out the Olympics yet: may have to do that later.

Good afternoon all. Well, Mass in the Grass went pretty well this morning. There were tents put up all over the park, each desiginated with a group's or family name. We had fried chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers (someone brought a grill), and there was lots and lots of food. I came home with 2 brownies left in my cake pan. Everyone had an enjoyable time. I even noticed a couple of people dozed off a little bit during the Church service.
For our Sunday Dinner today:
Grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, brats w/baked beans, green beans, mac & cheese, potato salad, garden salad and there is a selection of small bags of chips, cheese puffs, doritos, etc.
Desserts: Brownies, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, chocolate cake w/white icing and whatever flavor ice cream you want.
Everyone have good afternoon/evening, and I'll see you all in the morning.

Busy day for us today...neighbours had a block family BBQ so went to do that then we had some of the neighbour kids down the basement for an operating session..with some accompanying adults...and no incidents, accidents, or mishaps occurred...

Peace be with you. 73 and sun in Carolina this morning, headed for 87 and thunder later. We had a brief rain shower last night, but not nearly enough. News guy said the other day that only 2 states are not affected in some way by drought, and to expect food prices to rise.
Woke with the jints hollering at me, so I guess that means a front is coming thru. I hope that it brings some rain.
Went to church online yesterday with Pastor John Hagee and enjoyed it immensely. Since I can't get out to my church anymore, it is an excellent alternative.

Our rain pattern in this area remains the same...Practically none. If we could just get about an hours worth of nice steady rain, I know my yard would again try to further recover. A bit of rain last week gave it a little start....but areas that get no shade are in real need of a bit of water, just to start to green again....
Saw on our Indy weather news last evening, our shortage for the year is just a small % below 10". That's a bit of a deficit.
So lets hope each of us on here can have a good productive week.
Porches - have nice enclosed porch on front of house, but it mostly gets used for storage. The road in front of the house is actually higher than the porch, so instead of looking down at passing traffic and pedestrians, they're looking down on you...
Weather - Send more rain. We got .83" the other day and it didn't even affect the level of the creek running through town, since everything soaked right into the ground. The yard is still looking pretty bad. Everything is growing but the grass...
Railroad - Conductor on Saturday, for a long day, as we ran an evening "ice cream train." It was well attended, but it did make for a nearly 12 hour day (and yes, we are subject to HOS). Engineer on Sunday. Still finding out what I don't know and/or need to learn.

No rain around here. For the next couple, three days, have maybe a 20% chance of heat of the day showers/storms, but not going to count on it. Did a short trip to the library to pick up some books that I had reserved for myself, and when I got back home, didn't see Walt anywhere in the house. Called his cell, and low and behold, he was at the opthalmologist's office: I had forgotten that he had an appointment this afternoon.
Here is the menu for the rest of the afternoon and evening:
1. Beef stew w/baked cornbread and garden salad
2. Open-face turkey sandwiches or open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, green beans, slaw, cream style corn, garden salad and cornbread
