BC - Very nice.

A couple of years ago, I had some "spare" money and decided to see if I could come up with a new 12 string.  My pie-in-the-sky was an Ovation, wired.

Walked into the local music store, and there it was, on sale.  It's home now...

BC:  Nice little axe there, I'm partial to Gibson myself, what with Les Paul's hometown just up the road a bit.  I also prefer the bass, have an electric one sitting around somewhere, should get back in it again (with a whole bunch of other things I should do......).

Larry:  That will be a hot one for a while,  glad I'm at the house, at least until Tuesday morning.....

This axe will be my little wonder...I played it for awhile back at the shop..it really has good action...and the trem arm abuse I put it through does not knock this thing out of tune...Smile, Wink & Grin

Turns out it was the rear wheels, not the load.  Pucker factor for responders was up there for a while though.  First cop on scene reported the rear third of the trailer was ablaze...

Enough excitement for one night.  Time for bed.

Couple of years ago stopped to help a driver with an axle fire. His truck was a tanker.  I 65 in Ky in the middle of nowhere. Called 911 on the cell as a precaution.   The driver and I managed to get it out with fire extinguishers.  The fire deptartment showed up about a minute later.  Then another then another, then Ky State Police, local sheriff, more fire trucks.  The first  fire truck hosed the axle down(good practice to cool off a potential fire). In the next 20 minutes we must have had just about every emergency vehicle within 50 miles(or so it seemed).

I do not fault 911 for their response. If things had gotten out of hand it could have been messy.  The cargo was a solvent based ink.

It did look kind of like overkill after a few. It took close to an hour for the state police to get all the other emergency vehicles off the scene.

It has been hot down here in Hope.  Got up to 105F. Blah.

Thx Ian

Good Tuesday morning all.  Forgot to set my alarm for this morning:  foruntately, I managed to wake up on my own.  Just got the coffee on, and, fortunately, I made the juices last night.  Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes.

BOC, I like that guitar!  I used to have a guitar, not electric, though.  Gonna have to ask my nephew if he still has my guitar.  He borrowed it, along with the record albums, to teach himself how to play.  I know he doesn't have the records anymore, but not sure about my guitar.

Going to be another hot one, already really warm outside, and the sun isn't even up yet!  So far, though, we haven't had to move Tuesday Produce into the gym, due to this heat (except for the bread truck, when we were getting that on Tuesdays).  We always had that inside, on three tables.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and I'll see you all this afternoon.

It took almost three hours to get the SB lane open last night - don't know what time they finally opened the NB lane, where the truck was.  I was asleep by then.

If memory serves, there were six fire agencies on scene, plus the state police, sheriff's office, EMS, and eventually, DOT.  The truck company brought in another tanker to offload the damaged rig, and last I heard at the time the wrecker was an hour out.

Made for a long night for some folks...

Larry, you did indeed have some excitement. The closest I eveer had to such was and event back in the forties, when we were living right where US 521 made a right angle turn. One morning a track carry gasoline turned turtle after making the turn in the road. Our house was about 100 feet back from the highway, so we did not worry, but the lady who lived right across the street from where the truck landed  left and visited her sister fro the day. As it was, apparently all the gasoline drained out, and tbere was no fire.

We did have several interesting events while living there, such as the northbound Greyhound bus keeping traight up the alley by our house instead of turning because he had used a tall hedge AT THE corner (which one my brothers pruned drastically one day) as his signal to tutn right, instead of looking at the official signs.

When it rains, it pours (unfortunately not literally).

Truck fire last night.  Today many of the same departments (plus units from all over our county and two neighboring counties) are dealing with a 100 acre grass/brush fire in the south of the county.  On top of that, one of the responding fire trucks was involved in an accident.

And the farmers on top of the hill have been burning off brush.  There's a statewide burn ban, but ag interests are exempt...

The few times I get to drive - I have a particular fast food restaurant that I like for a salad for supper.  After giving the order, I have to make a left turn.  The second turn.  The first one puts me face-to-face with the dumpster.  Twice.....Grumpy

It's raining, it's pouring, etc.

For some it's too much, too fast, though.  Already one cellar pumping detail being dispatched for a neighboring department.  Several severe thunderstorm warnings being bandied about as well.

But we do need the rain.

....Have not mowed my yard for 31 days.  That's a 40 yr. record.

Spots that get shade, obviously have some grass, and even in front of the downspouts out about 10 ft. are green....and along the driveway edges and street edges, that funnel water...{what water}, the grass is long and green, but the rest of it....It will not recover until we somehow get rain.

This morning it was dark in the north....So I figured I better go down the driveway and to the mail box, and get the paper...Looks like it's going to pour.

Even the trees started to rustle and I thought here comes the advanced wind ahead of the front...So I hurried and got the garage door shut and came in and checked the radar.

In the last hour or so it showed me a big red line dropping down from the north.  Then the closer it got to Muncie it turned green, but it was a wide cover of it....And the leading clouds had wierd smooth lines all the way across the front advancing.

Seeing all the green, at least we're going to get rain....

Couldn't believe it.....all that passed, and not one drop of rain...!!

Within 20 or so minutes, the sun was shining, and has been all day and hot and hi humidity

What does it take.....?

We're down now 10" of rainfall for the year so far.

Good Wednesday morning all.  Don't know what is going on, but we now have 3 police cars out in front of our house, plus the car that the first patrol car stopped.  They have been out front since 5:00 this morning.  I had just gotten up, when I heard the whoop whoop, and saw the red & blues from the bedroom window.

Quentin, that front was supposed to reach us too, yesterday, and like your area, nada, zip, nothing.  I'm very glad that I went out about 6:30 and watered the flowers and tomato plants, along with Sarah's peach tree, and Walt's little walnut tree.  We had a tad bit of a breeze, but you couldn't feel any relief from it, could see the leaves on the tree barely moving. We made it up to 96, 97 degrees yesterday (official reading at the airport), and supposed to only get to 94 today.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is ready and on the warmer/breakfast bar.

Other than what is going on outside our front door, don't know anything else to report this morning.  Everyone take care, keep as cool as possible, and I'll see you all later.

Good Morning from KindaHotVille...

It seems to be already sticky out, even if it is only 70F....Going to a high near 85F feeling like 97F...and no rain forecast.

Today, later on in the afternoon I will find out if'n more ding dang fricking fracking treatments are needed...I hope not...

Then, maybe afterwards, going to go by the mall and pick up some things to make the evening go by with a good taste..Whistling

Good Morning Railfans!

Another month is gone and a new one at hand.  Already 70F here heading for yet another 90+ day by the looks of things; missing those Alaska 60's I has enjoying last week.

All the digital photos have been download and backups are in progress.  Got 25.8G of video downloaded and processes which is about 25% and will still need to get a backup of that still.  No travel blog entries yet for the trip posted but will let folks know when each are there.

My thoughts out to all in need... Angel
