Tree - our city has decided that after years of not having "parkway trees" - they were originally elms and cut down in the 50's and 60's due to Dutch Elm Disease - they pick this year of the drought to plant baby trees. Then they stake them and attach green garbage sacks to them so homeowners can fill the bags with water to seep into the ground slowly.
OK....I have no further comment....
I have an idea why the pull chains are short now. For shorter folk who can't reach over the dining room table, one can add a extension chain with a few dangle dandys. Problem solved---- untill time to put clean table cloth on table. Mindless of dangle dandys hanging down lower. Just shake table cloth a few times to spread out over area, not seeing cloth grab dandys and swing dandys up into blades. Chain runs out of slack and pulls chain out of switch. Blue sparks issue from switch and knocks out breaker. ------- Results keep short chain and slide table cloth across area, after replacing switch reset breaker.

Good Friday morning all. I got a good report from Dr. yesterday: cholesterol down to 190, and my weight is down to 130. Everything else checked with previous blood samples A-OK.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is replenished and on the breakfast/warmer bar.
Going to make a trip to the library after awhile: have finished a few of the books, and have more that were on reserve to be picked up.
I guess we got some rain overnight: didn't hear any of it, as I was sleeping soundly. But when I woke up at 6 this morning, it was definitely cooler outside, and heard on the local news/weather report that rain has moved on east/south of us, so no more rain in our area today, just pleasant weather, and a high of 79 degrees.
Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

As to the sheets that are supposed to fit the mattress perfectly, I will say that whoever thought them up was partially strangled at birth and suffered brain damage. I, too, have given up trying to fold them, and just cram them into the linen closet after washing and dried them. I would like to go back to having two flat sheets on the bed, but the flat sheets made now are too small to be tucked under the mattress all the way around. And, I have not seen just flat sheets for sale.
Right now, being in a care facility, I do not need to worry about folding such sheets.

Afternoon Railfans!

Right now, at 3:08 p.m., we have a temp of 77 degrees with a very nice breeze blowing. If I weren't feeling lazy this afternoon, I'd go take my walk. But I did make it to the library this morning, and got my books that were on reserve.
Our Friday Fish Fry is now ready and on the warmer bar. All kinds of fish, and our regular side dishes and dessert menu.
Hope you are all enjoying the afternoon. Take care, and see you all later.
I am so glad I am not the only one that has trouble with sheets/tablecloths - and sometimes a cat, too.
And every year it seems my patience gets a little shorter! Things always fall down - never up. And they never fall at your feet - which would be easy for me to bend over and pick up. No - they roll to the other side of the room and - well, you know.
Sir C - I have a certain city councilman that I would love to bag....and even water regularly!
.....Another 7/8" of rain over night....Not sure I know how to handle this. That's almost 2" for the last two overnights. Boy it's welcome. Hope my yard appreciates it and starts to mend itself.
It has to some degree, and I certainly hope this carries it further.
Only 73 degrees today, and a breeze....Opened windows....So many changes, not sure if I can keep up with them all.
The subject of sheets flailing into overhead fans, etc.......My experiences wern't quite as dramatic, as some described on here....I did not have my fan in operation while {skillfully}, flailing the sheet to spread it over the bed....Just caught the pull chains and flipped them up and around the non moving blades.
But the chains do make a somewhat scary tingling sound as they also hit the glass globes over the multi numbered light bulbs.
I've got some of these domestic chores pretty well under control. Not quite ready to give lessons yet though.

Those green bags may not be garbage bags at all - I think the story I read mentioned purpose-made bags, specifically for watering.
I was supposed to attend a picnic this afternoon, but they postponed it due to the rain in the forecast. Then the rain petered out. They would have had gloomy skies, but no rain...
Big anniversary celebration coming up for the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Twenty years of rail adventures and over a million riders. Not bad for something started by a bunch of railfans that wasn't expected to last a year! Labor Day weekend is going to be a busy one for us!

Good Evening..
Now it is partly sunny and 68F out...never made it to 73F.....
Got a few things done in the workshop that needed done, and actually expanded my 6 sq in. of space to 11 sq inches of space....
Good Saturday morning all. Believe it or not, we have a current temp of 59 degrees F. this morning, here in Louisville! Walt and I had to each put on a light weight jacket to go out on the porch this morning. Our high today is supposed to be about 80, 81 degrees. Such a lovely morning out.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On our warmer bar for our Saturday Brunch:
Bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, biscuits, gravy, fried taters, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, watermelon, papaya, kiwi, oatmeal, grits and fresh off the vine sliced tomatoes.
Everyone enjoy your day, take care, and see you all this evening for our pizza fest.
Good Morning
Got them ol' T'underin'boomers coming through today...high forecast at 70F today...I just now summat is up with the weather here...something is going to come here with even more3H stuff than last month...
We had some rip snorting thunderstorms come marching through here last night...guess what I am hearing now?
Chainsaws...again.
Got to pick up a few things to pick up this afternoon...othernat...not much doing today...
took a nap after work last night.it's still busy busy.Cw thanks for the pizza later tonight.
Cool enough for breakfast trackside. That was so nice!
Joe - sending a Mookie and a DEEX your way. Took him a while to get out of town - tracks were busy all of a sudden. Then nothing after that.
Going to play office manager today - one job I really enjoy, plus it cleans off my desk!
May go out for supper/dinner - depending on the region. It is supper here. In between lite snacking, heavy snacking and just plain snacking.
.....Nap time is past now, and I have the sweeper out to run thru the house. Got too close the computer here, and just had to sit down here a few min. and see what's going on out there....I don't have to get into all the corners and move furniture, as I do have Merry Maids come once a month.
Sunshine here and 76 degrees.
My morning was pretty useful. Had the bed clothes off the bed and laundered and back on the bed by 10 am. Did two more wash loads, and got those all dried.....Cleaned my bathroom....and got ready and met niece and nephew for lunch.
Now will finish up the rest of the house with the sweeper...even hit the carpet at the front of the garage to get what blows in there...
Worked on cleaning out photos in "my pictures" on this computer as I've overloaded the hard drive to the point it's slowing and can't keep up with the speed of the cable.
It will take a while to remove old photos to start to make a difference.
Guess we have time to do it though. Want to head out to Pennsylvania next week Thur. or Fri.
Finding a suitable place for my little pup, Ella though is still a problem. She is not a good traveler. Anyway, in a hotel, on the other end, and can't take her, and still have freedom to go running.....
Need to open the windows more here as it is warming up a bit.
And now back to sweeping..........
So far, as far as I've seen, our temp is 81 degrees. That should be out at the airport, which is the official weather data gathering place.

Another rainy day was had by us'uns as well..so now we have about 5.5" of rain..we still being down by 4" here...
Quentin! You ol' houskeeper you! Since my washer/dryer are in the basement, I just put on clean ones and wash later.
But I do find that resting @ the puter in between jobs makes them not seem quite so daunting.
BOC - trade ya - we got .01 this pm. In fact, I will just send it to you - we won't miss it.
Evidently salad material for the animals is a little scarce - went out @ 7 am with birdseed, peanuts and corn - didn't even get to the edge of the drive where I leave it and had 3 rabbits literally @ my feet watching my hands. Getting a little scary out there! Feel a mugging coming on!
The rabbits eat the birdy seed; the birds all eat the peanuts (in the shell, mind you) and the squirrels all act like juveniles - chasing each other around! I take the corn off the ears because they don't pick up the cobs after they eat, so next they will want me to stand there and shell the peanuts....
Grip a clue....
Great.....emergency time....my chest pain is baaaaaaacck!!!
BOC - Barry, hope you are all right: chest pain isn't anything to play around with!
Good Sunday morning all, and:
Tom, Happy Happy Birthday!! Wishing you the very best today, and hope you have a great day, filled with lots of Love, Happiness, Joy, and many, many Birthday Blessings and Best Wishes coming your way today and always! Just realized that we don't have an ice cream smiley emoticon: definitely need one of them.
We have a temp of 59, 60 degrees here in the city this morning, with 61 out at the airport's weather reporting facility. Supposed to be a bit warmer today, with a high in the mid 80s. And rain coming in sometime tomorrow.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is on the warmer bar: Hows about bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and pancakes, with plenty of maple syrup, cause that's what I've got fixed and on the warmer breakfast bar.
Everyone have a good morning, take care going to work, Church, railfanning,whatever/wherever your plans take you this morning. See you all later this afternoon, after I get back from Church myself.
good morning
beautiful morning.CW thanks for breakfast.BOC hope you are feelinf better soon.going to go see what csx is running this morning.Back to work tonight.
.....Jen, fortunately for me, I had been asking questions re; washing machine proceedures, and amounts of detergent, etc.....etc....in the past 6 months or so...
And I had been helping Jean in several other cleaning chores all along....and the convienience of this home being all one floor, and better yet...the washer / dryer being located in it's own small room behind bi fold doors and adjacent to bedrooms, certainly makes the stuff i've been talking about much easier for me. Actually, the computer / office room here was converted from the middle bed room, and is just across the hall for access to the wash facilities.
But house cleaning is not my favorite thing, but I am a person who must have my "stuff" around me neat...So I'm sort of "driven" to keep at it. We do have a visit from Merry Maids once a month, and I intend to keep it that way for now....They hit all the "corners" etc....and make our job of trying to keep the place presentable possible.
But of course, it was "nicer" when we were two.....in many ways. Just trying to look forward, and keep going.
Q - The Driver helps me a lot - and it takes both of us, even in this small space. The English side of me would love cleaning help; the German side has a stroke that I can't do this without help.
So the English side took the German side kicking and screaming trackside early this morning. It was a beautiful morning and busy!!!! Saw coal, x-freight, x-freight using the Amtrak line; a GP38 doing some yard work and a girl stopped by 2 coal trains go thru a 50 pound bag of makeup and put it all on in the 20 min she had to wait. I don't know how she managed to hold her head upright.
BOC - r u ok?
Off to ponder the future of the world.....
