In Cartersville, GA, tonight, doing a reset on my log. Also had my greaser fixed, was a bit overactive the past week, went through a bit too much.....

Well, off to the sleeper, should be in tomorrow.....

Peace be with you. 72 and partly clear, headed for 89 and showers and thunder later. We had a noisy evening, and a short downpour which was much appreciated.

I spent yesterday with an earache,; The quack phoned in some eardrips which helped immensely. Basically, now it only bothers me when I swallow. so it is a great improvement. No fun at all yesterday

Everyone take care and have a great day.

Good Saturday morning all.  Joe, thanks so very much for taking care of breakfast this morning!  I didn't even wake up until 7:00;  43 minutes later, I'm still trying to get my eyes totally open. Don't worry, they'll be plenty of pizza leftovers in the fridge in the morning.  Wink

Everyone have a good day, keep safe and take care, with whatever errands, events, etc., you have lined up today.  See you all back in here this evening for our pizza fest.

Stourbridge Lion
Starting to recover from the upgrade and I am still working with IT on the major issue; biggest being the MASSIVE email messages that were going into the Inbox.  I think the issue is now solved and folks just need to adjust their profile settings based on if they want them or not.  It looks like allot of notifications that were not working on the old version kicked in with the upgrade and starting working.

Mr. Lion, I have gone in once and hit Save on my e-mail settings but am still not receiving anything. I suddenly feel totally cut off from the world. Even though my schedule has not permitted me to post, I still read what others write, both here and in the Lounge. I really miss it. Should I purposely change a setting and save the change, and then go back and change the setting back to what I want and save it again? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I am beginning to think somebody at Kalmbach doesn't like me. As well as this e-mail problem, I never did get my August issue of TRAINS. I will have to call customer service about that on Monday.

This concludes my current rant, I hope to be back for pizza and a more sociable visit later.

Bruce

Good evening.

I haven't been by for pizza in a while so I thought I would check in. Seems like I have been busy for a while now, but nothing to much to show for it.

82° and sunny now. It has been a fairly good summer weather wise, with our usual ups and downs. We have had enough rain to keep things looking green. We had two nasty hailstorms earlier in the week. There is a cloud seeding outfit that does a pretty good job of preventing bad hailstorms, but they didn't get out in time to stop these last two. Fortunately my building wasn't damaged.

Mom's house has been cleaned out with one notable exception. Back in the early '80's my parents bought a bookcase/TV stand in a kit form, and Dad put it together in the living room. Well, it turns out this thing was made out of real wood, not particle board, with a mirrored back and now we can't move it! At least not by conventional means. It looks like we will have to hire a piano mover, and that is a problem, as we don't know where it is going. None of us want it, as it is deigned for old tube type TV's. My brother, who is a civil engineer, thinks this whole thing is quite funny.

The papers to sell the house were signed this morning, so that thing has to go somewhere.

There has been no recent RR news.

Bruce

BOC - do you have an air show coming up?

Bruce - many years ago, my daughter built a stereo book case out of oak in shop class.  It was just the two of us, so you have the same problem we almost did.  We got it moved, but I think both of us were a lot shorter afterward.

Wonder where that thing ever ended up.....Hmm

Well - we finally had some rain.  More of a shower than rain, but hey - it was wet.  Didn't help anything except it made it darker and cooler.  Wonderful!

There - wedding reception is done (not mine - it was at our FD banquet hall and I monitored the event, just in case something went wrong with the building).  Now I can make some preps for working on the railroad tomorrow and call it a night.

Got some good news for the FD on Thursday - the chassis for our new squad/brush truck has finally been delivered to the dealer, so we'll be seeing it in a month or so.  Can't wait!

One of the speakers I heard Thursday at a fire seminar was akin to an evangelist - if you didn't leave his lecture feeling energized and motivated, you shouldn't even be in the business.  Had him autograph his book - although at $45, it was a tad expensive.  Good stuff, though.

Good Sunday morning all.  Haven't heard any weather reports yet this morning, as local news hasn't come on yet.  But think we're to have another good, beautiful day, with less humidity and lower temps.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is ready and on the warmer bar.

Mookie, you've got that right:  the Diner/Cafe is  open all the time, 24/7/365, for any and all occasions.

Everyone have a good morning, take care going to work, Church, railfanning, whatever is in your plans for today.  See you all later this afternoon, after I get home from Church.

BOC - Few ?s.  (Of course, cats are always curious)

DC3 - isn't that a fairly sizeable plane to just tool around in?  They were passenger planes if I remember correctly.

Is this my beloved Steve McQueen?

And as the British say - Isn't that a Jag-u-r?  Or if not, what is it?  POV, also?

Joe - went out alone again this early morning - trackside.  Sent you a DEEX and brought in some freight and coal.

9051 was DPU going south.  Driver thinks this may be one of those that they had trouble with  @ the head end, so they only DPU them.  Anyone remember?  It looked really odd to me.  Paint was perfect and shiny; wheel housings were really "silver" looking and the wheels themselves were silver and looked smaller than usual (maybe because they weren't dirty?  Anyone have any plausible or implausible explanations?  We will take either.

Ms Mook - reception wasn't for a forum member, at least not that I know of.  As a member of the FD, I was just babysitting...

The DC3 seated all of 21 people as originally delivered.  Some "small" turboprops used by puddle-jumper airlines seat more than that today.

Had a decent day on the railroad.  A couple of the passengers who had paddled down the Moose River were from St. Louis, MO.  I guess they like the rivers here in the Adirondacks...

Mookie:  DC-3's also, besides being passenger planes...loosely termed ...were also cargo planes. The C-47 is still used out west to dump boraid on brush fires and such....The guy who bought this thing is looking to do a full refurbishing of said plane.

Steven McQueen used to do a fair bit of auto racing back in his day. The car he is seen in there is a Jaguar XKSS...just before it came to be called an E type....Big Smile

I found this on another forum..maybe the next time I see this I might have better luck...

Barry (BOC), sounds like you've  had a really hectic weekend.  Hope everything goes well for you today.

And good Monday morning to everyone:  temps this morning are in the low to mid 60s, going for a high of about 82 degrees this afternoon.  About the only ones who  might get any rain today is from middle Indiana to southern Indiana.  We should be staying dry until about  Friday or Saturday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and all that good stuff.  Wondering how Q's doing on his stay in PA.  Sure do miss him.  (Just like I do everyone else who isn't here.)  See you all later this afternoon.
