Peace be with you. 79 degrees and sunny in Carolina with a nice breeze which makes it quite nice outside.

They caught an incoming freshmen at USC with 5 handguns, ammo and brass nux in his dorm room'. Must be some sort of record: arrive, get busted and expelled in less than a week! It was in my old dorm, which was about to fall down 40 years ago. They've obviously done some shoring up since then.

Everyone take care and have a great weekend

Evening all.  Currently 89 degrees here in Louisville.  Got my cookies made for tomorrow, and they are in a container, ready for me to pickup on my way out the door in the morning:  Oatmeal cookies w/chopped black walnuts in them.  Walt and I both sampled 1 apiece, and at least I think they're pretty darn good.  (Used the black walnuts, because I didn't have any raisins on hand to put into the batter.)

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

01.  Taco

02.  Cheese

03.  Ham & green pepper

04.  Hawaiian

05.  Supreme

Hope everyone has had a good day; enjoy your pizzas, have a good evening, and see you all in the morning.

Good Sunday morning all.  Guess it is going to be another hot day here in Louisville.  Local news isn't on yet this mornin', so don't know what our current temp is, or what the high will be today.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is ready and on the breakfast/warmer bar, including some cold pizza from last night.

Everyone have a good, safe morning, take care going to Church, Work, railfanning, or whatever else you have planned for this mornin; and I'll see you all later this afternoon.

Good morning everybody...it's been a long time since I've stopped by for a visit...hope everybody is well and happy!

Yesterday I was trackside at Eola (my usual spot) when the eastbound Chief came blasting through with Amtrak's sole dome (big/full dome actually) tucked between the second unit and the baggage car.  My guess she was being ferried from the west coast to New England in preparation for use on the New England trains during the fall "change of color" season.  Otherwise things were a bit slow for a Saturday.  See you all here again soon I hope.

Afternoon all.  Our dinner after Church services this morning went rather well.  Lots of delicious food, and desserts.

Very, very warm here.  Think our current temp is somewhere in the upper 80s, could be 90.  Projected high for today was 93, so might hit down in a couple, three hours.  They're still calling for rain to some in, sometime late afternoon, early evening, into the night, through Tuesday morning.

Here is our Sunday Dinner menu:

Baked ham w/baked beans, potato salad, slaw, garden salad, macaroni & cheese, made with good ole cheddar cheese, and some sliced green tomatoes (our garden doesn't have any ripe tomatoes yet!).

Eolafan Jim, glad to see you were able to pop in here for a few!!  You're always welcome, any time you can make it in.

Everbody have a good evening, take care and see you in the morning.

Good Monday morning all.  Well, as of 6:27 (current time, EDT), no rain falling in our area yet.  Temp's somewhere in the 70s, I believe, and supposed to get up to about 88, 89 degrees this afternoon.

Adrian, good to see you in!!  How are things going for you these days?

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is also ready and on the breakfast/warmer bar.

Good morning all...it is about 68F here in Aurora IL now with highs predicted to be about 85F today.  Yesterday and last night we picked up about 3" of rain...the most we've gotten all summer season (but unfortunately far too much at one time as most ran off without soaking in)...but we're grateful just the same.  We are predicted to get some of the moisture from the tropical storm currently in the Gulf by Saturday and Sunday of this weekend.  Have a great week everybody.

....A dark and warm morning....And...the magic word:  Rain...!  Started sometime during the overnight.  Just a nice steady not hard rain.  Do we ever need it...Still..!

Dr. appointment at 10 this morning.  And I am reminded by this date it's 2 months today, that I lost faithful wife, Jean.

But believe the Lord is helping me to push forward.  Doing better than I thought I might.  And we give our Thanks.

Just got back to the house after being gone for two weeks. Gardens and lawn took a major hit in the heat. Will be out tonite trying to salvage what I can after work.

May need to shoot starting fluid to the brain. Does Jolt come in diet cola form? (The 7 hour timezone change will have to be dealt with this week)

Peace be with you. 88 and PC in Carolina with no rain called for. Now watch it rain bullfrogs later. Watching Isaac move toward Nawleens and have a shortcut to WWL to keep up with things.

Q, thinking of you this date.

We have a worker under the house installing power vents and he's a bonking and a bopping and making a clatter. I had forgotten he was there and tried to blame it on the girls.

Everyone take care and have a great day.

Quentin, it just doesn't seem possible that Jean has been gone 2 months.  Seems just like yesterday, we received word of her passing on here.

We still haven't gotten any rain here, although it is beginning to cloud over and get very overcast outside.

Our menu for the rest of the day, evening:

The hams I baked Saturday afternoon for yesterday, has all been cut off the bones, and we have sliced ham for sandwiches, along with baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad,  broccoli w/butter sauce, cauliflower w/cheese sauce, and if anyone wants a ham sandwich(s), there's also potato chips you can have with your sandwiches.

Everyone take care, have a good evening and see you all tomorrow morning.

Am I good or what..... We are in the middle of a heavy rainstorm with some deep water standing in the yard. Not too shabby for an official prediction of no rain. Grampaw knows what he's talking about. Not sure if this is from Isaac, but it's coming from the south

CW - I am exhausted.  Did lot of running around today - everything seemed to need attention today, so ham sounds excellent.

Q - Glad to hear you are coping.  I am not sure I would do as well were I in your situation.

Fuzzy - I am getting better at the puzzles you send me.  Yes  Lots of lawns in Lincoln look like they should just be rolled up and stuffed in a garbage can.  Still no rain.  Lots around us in some places, but zip here.  Glad you are home!

Home from a hot weekend on the railroad.  Was engineer Friday and Saturday.  The "air conditioning" in that old F only works when the wind is blowing the right way....

Got a little more stain on the house before the R-A-I-N-! came.  I don't mind the break.  Maybe the grass will green up a bit.

Headed for the NY State Fair tomorrow to man the booth for the Old Forge area chamber of commerce.  Trying to entice more people into that beautiful neighborhood.

It'll be my first visit to the Fair - and I've lived here for almost 35 years.  Just never had the desire to go mingle with the masses.

Thursday it's back to the railroad to get ready for our 20th anniversary celebration.  Not sure what the turnout will be, but we hope for a crowd!

......Thanks CW....Jen...

We actually did get rain overnight....And my lawn took a leap forward today...Just a bit more, and I suppose that will come from "Isaac" last of this week, and that will give it more of a final push.  It certainly has come back from a terrible condition.

Not quite all the way back yet though.

Deggesty
Bruce, you are going through what I expect to have to go through in the near future, except it is my own house that needs to be cleaned out, as it will be easier for my daughters to keep up with me if I  move closer to them. Two are cabinets I built out of plywood and ripped two by fours to hold the sound system and some of our records and to have the television set sit on top. The third one is a substantial 3' x 7' desk I built for Ricki which I cannot imagine anyone else would want. It also has a combined bookshelf (on one side) and custom-made arrangement to suit Ricki's needs (on the other side) that runs the full length of the desk.  The legs of this desk are made of four by fours.

Johnny, I have drawn the short straw to be the one to sit and wait for a mover to take out that Bookcase/TV Stand sometime in the next couple of days. And with the house otherwise empty, there isn't going to be a lot else to do. The move out didn't go as smoothly as Mom would have liked. Because of my health issues, Mom and me tend to want to work at one speed, my brother at full speed, and my sister wants to work at Warp Factor One. Anyway, the job got done and we are still speaking to each other.

Had a bad day with the computer yesterday. It apparently forgot where it was. It said it didn't know the DNS name to connect with the internet. Which was stupid because nothing changed from Saturday to Sunday. I was very concerned, because as Houston Ed's signature says, "He likes his computer... because all his friends are in there". I stewed on it for almost half a day, and then the solution turned out to not be as difficult as I had imagined. I sort of got myself more worked up than I needed to.

It is 81° now. There is a forecast of rain later in the week, with highs for the rest of the week ranging from 65° to 80°. It turns out that because of the right combination of rain, and hot days in between, the farmers across the prairies are looking at above average to bumper crops. Their big fear now is hail. In some areas because of late spring rains, they couldn't seed as early as they would have liked, so they are hoping for a later than average frost. Some "experts" were suggesting that the size of our crop might mitigate some of the food price increases we might have seen because of the drought in the US. It would be nice if they were right.

No recent RR news to report.

Quentin, good to hear you are bearing up.

Bruce

Good Tuesday morning all.  Well, folks, we finally got a little bit of rain last night.  Walt and I went out on the porch around 8 p.m., to take the recycling out, and the street was wet, a couple of cars were driving with the windshield wipers going back & forth.  This morning, we have 75 degrees with a nice little breeze blowing.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Mudchicken, do you need some extra Gatorade this morning?  And breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar.

Mook, glad you liked the ham sandwiches for last night.  Is there anything you'd like for this afternoon and tonight??

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you sometime later this afternoon.  Have a couple of errands to do as soon as I finish with Tuesday Produce, which will require a couple of bus trips.
