BOC - I need a new purse....while you are out shopping.

Need to see eye dr this am.  Had a severe migraine and it seems to have left its mark on upper part of the right hazel marble.  Also think may have slight sinus infection.  This may be a day of drs, unless opthamologist can give me something for sinus, tired body, sore muscles, you know - old age.

Good Wednesday morning all.  Sun is shining, and still very humid and muggy outside.  Just woke up about a half hour ago, and have taken a sip of coffee.  So still trying to get my opens completely open.  But breakfast is on the light side this morning:  I've put out boxes of cereal and fixed some toast and bacon for you all.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later this afternoon.

Good Afternoon all.  Went to grocery, and stocked up on several things this morning, like canned goods, flour, meats.  Still having a little bit of trouble with my eyes, particularly my left one.  It keeps watering on me, and both eyes feel like they don't want to stay open.  Guess my allergies are acting up, although I haven't had to take a Claritin yet today.  Have also been sneezing, and nose doesn't feel like it is stuffed up.

We just had a 'Code Red' weather alert, informing us we are under a severe thunderstorm warning.  Had gotten an alert about a half hour ago that we're under a severe thurnderstorm watch until 11 p.m.

Joe, salads do sound good for tonight, so here is the menu for the rest of the afternoon/evening:

1.  Caesar salad

2.  Potato salad

3.  Chef salad

Everyone have a good afternoon/evening, and see you all probably late tomorrow:  Have an early pickup to go to my Orthopedist for my yearly checkup.

Good Evening

We actually got to 84F feeling like 96F today...under the dull non-rainy skies of London ON.. Supposed to get thunderboomers and such tonight but we'll see whether that happens here....

We are still paying around $1.28 a litre here for regular...works out to roughly $5/gallon...

Have a good evening!!

Good Thursday morning all.  70 muggy degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 93 this afternoon.  Could have another  popup shower/storm again this afternoon.  We had a good one yesterday afternoon, around 3:30, 3:45:   thunder, lightning, winds.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar.

I'm ready to head out to go to the doctor, whenever my ride shows up.  You all have a good morning, take care , keep safe and I'll see you all sometime this afternoon.

Morning all......

Cooling off and drying out today, high predicted to be about 80, will be even cooler tomorrow through the weekend.  Should be nice weather for my sister's wedding this weekend.....

Pickup is at the dealer this morning, having a new exhaust installed, and having brake work done.  It's turning into a major project, apparently the brake job I had done a couple years ago was not a good one, sounds like they will have to do a full brake job, in addition to fixing the parking brake and anti-lock issues.  It will be a dent to the pocketbook, but I had planned for it, so not too hard to swallow.........

Well, guess I should get some housework done around here, get it cleaned up for the weekend......

BOC, dr. appointment well pretty good.  My right knee is still good to go, and he made the comment that  that knee should last me for the rest of my life.  On the other hand, have to start wearing my ankle/arch support brace again, and for shoes that the ankle/arch support won't go into, I have to go get arch supports for my other shoes.  He thinks that is what is  causing the pain in the back of my left knee, and along the front, just below the knee cap.

Walt emptied the rain gauge from yesterday's downpour:  2 inches of rain in it.

For the rest of the afternoon/evening, here is our menu:

1.  Pork chop abracadbra

2.  Beef w/noodles

Side dishes:  Choice of broccoli spears w/butter sauce, corn, garden salad, cucumber slices in vinegar, pork & beans, and made from scratch buttermilk biscuits.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Good Evening

Great day was had by all. Neighbour's layout was quite cooperative this afternoon...no incidents, accidents, laydowns occured.  We had a wonderful BBQ out back with ribs and such. Mind, chemo after effects tend to not make for much of an appetite....

Weatherwise we were supposed to have gotten thunderstorms and such...needless to say nothing of the sort happened here...

CW: Good news...kinda sorta...:)

Good Friday morning all.  BOC, glad everything went well at the BBQ yesterday.  And yeah, your right:  the dr. visit yesterday was a kind sorta good news event.  I know what part of the problem is, and it has to do with the weather:  when it is extremely hot and humid, I don't put on my ankle/arch support brace, because with all the metal and velcro strap, my leg sweats, and moisture is just running down my leg.

Starting out with temps in the low 70s, going for a high of 90 this afternoon.  Cold front due in somewhere around 8 p.m., and we will have a very good chance of some severe weather from midnight to 3 a.m.:  thunder, lightning, high winds, hail, and possibly some tornadic activity.  The only good thing will be the temps for the weekend:  temps in the low to mid 70s, with lows in the low 50s.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is ready and on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, English muffins, bagels, bear claws and fresh fruits.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later this afternoon.

Nice day here.....Haven't checked to see what's on the radar...

Is a bit humid.

Anyone here checked over on the Roanoke Hotel Cam ....Something of construction nature seems to be anticipated.  Equipment and material seem to be in place...

All the cars that normally park there are not there....Wonder if the railroad is changing something.....?  Any info from anyone out there...?

Afternoon all.  86.4 degrees here at 1:10 p.m.  As Quentin said, still humid out; but we do have a slight breeze blowing.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way, with all the regular kinds of fish, the side dishes and desserts.

Woke up this morning with a headache, right in the middle of my forehead.  Guess it is sinus related; took a pain pill, along with a Claritin this morning, and it is beginning to ease up somewhat.  My head was really pounding about 3 hours ago.  Now, just a dull throb.

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, and see you all later.

Went to the local rec park arena today to set up the railroad display for the train show this weekend.

As I was wrapping things up I heard a screech outside and some other noises, but didn't give it much thought until someone hollered for me to come outside.  Turns out a fellow was (as a favor) moving another person's vehicle after it was unloaded.  The owner of the vehicle in question is an amputee (RR accident) so has a special pedal arrangement.  The helpful driver apparently didn't realize that.  As he pressed what he though was the brake, he just went faster, caroming off my truck and over a light pole, then through a ditch and 50 yards onto the adjacent sports field (fortunately empty).

I think the light pole base did more damage to the other vehicle than hitting my truck (estimate pending), and my truck is still drivable, but it's still not a good thing.

The helpful driver looks to have jammed his hand (he took quite a ride), but fortunately nobody was in his path or the outcome would have been much worse.

Sheesh.

Even worse - I know both of them...

Larry, I am aware of those special needs driver controls. My cousin was wounded and left paralyzed during the Okinawa campaign in WWII. He had a setup that would rival an apollo capsule in complexity. No one else dared to use it, but he would get in and go wherever and whenever he wanted. He even campaigned for and won a seat for 2 terms in the state legislature! I hope your damage is minimal.

Everyone take care

Good Saturday morning, all.  69, 70 degrees here in Louisville this morning , with a few rain showers.  Guess we got some of the winds last night, as when I stepped out on the porch earlier to get the paper, I noticed that the recycle bins were just about in the middle of our sidewalk, just off-center from the front porch.

Larry, hope the damage to your truck is minimal.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And our Saturday Brunch is ready and on the breakfast/warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later this evening for our pizza fest.

Larry, I am sorry that your truck suffered damage from another man's not knowing how to drive a vehicle. I have not yet had to have my car fitted up for special operation (and I trust that I never have to have such). A nephew of mine (now in his sixties) had polio when he was almost two years old, and has to drive with his left foot since the polio affected his right leg drastically. However, it is still possible to drive his car with your right foot.

Thirty-two years ago, the Consumer Products Division (watches and calculators) of my company was moved from the plant it had occupied to another location (the original plant was to used solely for the manufacture of computer chips and LCD displays). I carried some of the things to be moved on my pickup, and while I was in the new building, I heard a noise outside--and found that the driver of another truck (whom we had hired to help us in our move) had, without looking behind him, backed his truck into the rear quarter of mine. The damage was not such that I could not drive the truck, and I was able to give the repair work (paid by the other driver's company's insurance ) to a member of my church.

We are having sunshine today (as we did yesterday and the day before), and I am in my room, looking east towards the Wasatch Mountains; when I go to the dining room, I look west towards the Oquirrh (Oqueer, Okra; the people here have several ways of pronouncing the name. There is a town, Tooele, on the west side of the Oquirrh the name of which also is pronounced in several different ways.) Mountains. Both ranges are currently obscured somewhat by the haze that prevails in the valley when we have had no rain or other precipitation for several days. In the winter, the pollution can really be bad--and the ski resorts can have higher temperatures during the day than the cities in the valley have.

Maybe--I can go back home in a couple of weeks. I can get to church now when I have a ride to and from.

Well, I've had a very productive day today:  took a walk this morning, came back home, doing laundry now.  Have 1 more load to do, when the dryer is almost through with the load that is currently drying.  Sometimes, I will go ahead and start another load to wash, but don't really like to have them sitting in the washer after the rinse and final spin, waiting for the load in the dryer to get done.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Desserts:

1.  Yellow cake w/chocolate icing

2.  Peach cobbler

3.  White cake w/white icing with coconut spread on top

Hope you all have had a good day.  Everyone take care, have a good evening and see you all in the morning.

Day one of the train show is in the books.  Not bad attendance, and I gave out lots of literature while answering plenty of questions.

The morning was punctuated by the passing of a squall line that generated severe weather warnings.

Prior to the passing of the squall line the winds were blowing pretty good, precipitating a frantic call to moi seeking use of the fire department banquet hall.  Seems a planned outside wedding was a victim of the wind (it blew their tents down) and they needed a change in venue.  Got that going from afar (I was tied at the train show), and it appears they had a good time.

Day two of the train show on Sunday.  Hopefully there will be a call from the insurance adjuster on Monday.

Plane tickets purchased for trip to AZ next week.  Changing planes at ORD on the way out, but not there long enough for a side trip.

So yesterday got called into work early for what I thought was rent a crowd for our squadrons new dedicated crew chief program.

Turns out commander picked 12 actual crew chiefs and me being the odd specialist out for our 13 jets.

Hasn't quite sunk in having "the keys" so to speak handed over to a 212 million dollar airframe.

I've known the jet since before brand new actually when I had gone to the factory 4 years ago and saw 'er in pieces being bolted together.  Signed off the avionics portion of the acceptance inspection.  Deployed for my first time with 'er.  The list goes on.  Anyway pretty cool all around.

Good Sunday morning all.  Currently 55 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 77 this afternoon.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Particularly for Larry and Tom, there is also hot water for hot tea this morning.  On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels and bear claws.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care going to Church, Work, Railfanning, whatever you have planned for this morning.  I'll see you all later this afternoon, after I get home from Church.
