Evening all.
We had a REAL BOMB THREAT at school today. We are all safe thankfully. Someone had etched into the stall wall in the bathroom that a big bomb would go off at 2:45pm on March the 10th 2010. We were told to go to the football field, and we got to walk around the track. We are all SAFE though and that’s what counts! We ended up leaving on time, after the bomb squad took there dogs, and equipment into the building, and scoped it out. I’d like to know the sick moron who would do a thing like this… RRRRRRRRRRRR!

My first trip to Washington was right after my junior year in high school; the senior class and junior class were both so small that we went together on one bus (one day going up and one day going home). We had a great time, visiting, among other places, Arlington Cemetery (there was only one Tomb of the Unknown Soldier back then), the White House, the Capitol, the Smithsonian (only one building then), and Glen Echo Amusement Park.

Good Thursday morning, everone. We have cloudy skies this morning, with a temp around 57 degrees. Going for a high in the low to mid 60s, with rain showers coming in around rush hour, along with thunderboomers later this afternoon.
Larry, it's hard to believe that Evie is now 2, isn't it? And yeah, they do pick up on that NO word pretty fast, don't they?
May you have a safe trip back home, and may Justin and his group have a safe trip to Washington, DC, and back home again.
Coffee, juices, hot cider, and milk are fresh this morning, and there's plenty of hot water for hot tea.
On the warmer/serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits w/sausage gravy.

No CW - I am fine. It is snowing. But....it is a spring snow - very wet and just barely cold enough that it is more liquid than snow. It is very humid and you can now feel it. It is humid all winter, but starting in March you can really "feel" it. Not much accumulation, but still!
Glad Tree is coming home. I have missed his "adventures".
I have the Netherlands railcam up so I can watch the people and the trains. Our neighborhood dogs are oddly quiet this morning, but the railcam dogs are not. A big, booming bark and a little yappy bark. But at least I can turn the sound off on them!

Actually, the radio is full of it. The snow is moving into Nebraska from western Iowa as it rotates west around an area of low pressure. No snow for Cedar Rapids, just some rain over the next couple of days. Brian lucks out this time. However, computer models indicate that the weather pattern will remain active for the next few weeks, so nobody is out of the woods yet.
BNSF was very busy last night. I heard at least six trains go by between midnight and 3:00 AM on a line that usually sees about that many trains in an entire day.

Jen....You're reading my mind. I've just recently started to think about any moles in our area....I've been looking out over the back yard towards the Fairway, but perhaps I better take a walk back there and get a closer look.
Those things are so sneaky.....In an hour they can tunnel quite a distance and begin the damage to a yard.....So, if that happens again this season....the mole deleting tool and operator will have to spring into action.
I'm thinking the next action in our yard is to get it rolled. Did so last season and that helped a quite a bit to smoth out some of the freezing and thawing roughness. Maybe I'll let someone else do it this year if one of the yard care fellows happens to be doing so again....
Just now Jean called to go look in the backyard, and so I did....and saw my first Robin....She has seen several in the past week or so, but this is my first one. Shouldn't be any problem pulling worms out now....and he did while I was watching.
So....rolling.....and moles watch, will have to be on the agenda.
Yesterday was really Spring like...72 plus degrees here in the afternoon. Today {right now}, 60 plus degrees and light cloud cover with sun breaking thru at times......

Our local weatherguessers seem to agree with this. I thought we were going to get doused real good last night- had a solid line of thunderstorms move north out of Missouri, but they pulled a Lincoln (parted and went around us on both sides). All we got was a light show accompanied by noise.

So far, we have not gotten any of the rain they were predicting for this morning. Seems to have missed us, so far. But, we still have the possibility/probability of the thunder showers later this afternoon, probably around 4 p.m., or so, into the early to mid evening hours. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I've put out sandwich fixings on the serving station, so help yourselves. There's also potato chips, Doritos, etc., along with tossed salad to go with your sandwiches. And maybe one of you all will give me an idea for supper tonight?!?!
Good afternoon, and thanks for lunch. At present, 63 degrees between rain showers in Carolina. It is supposed to rain off and on today and then steadily tonight. I just got back from the grocery store and got things squared away. My exercise for the day is done. I had a receptacle under the desk act up, and had to go under there night before last, and now my bad shoulder feels like it is in California or thereabouts. My tylenol 3 knocks it down, but gets me in the process. The past few days have been interesting to say the least.

Oh, I've been in here quite a bit, just haven't had much to say. Nothing much noteworthy going on around here, so I keep my yap shut. I've also feel a bit snake-bit WRT the Trains forums lately- it seems like whenever I start a thread or post in a thread, at times it's like I've thrown a rock into a mine shaft- the thread disappears from sight in short order. Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but I sometimes wonder.
Brian - welcome to my world. I post and the same two people post an answer and by nite it is in the next universe.
Quentin - read an article on Nebraska robins. They say that the robins here normally during the summer fly south. But then we have some year-round robins. They are from colder climes - like North Dakota and when it gets too cold for them to find food in ND, they come here to NE where they think it is far enough south. So I guess we just rotate robins year round.
Willy - it was an Omaha station that said western Iowa would get the snow. Lincoln only talks about Grand Island and I have no clue who GI talks about.....
This whole state sounds like a bunch of robins.
I am going to go lie down with a cool cloth. And some chocolate cake, maybe?
CW: I feel like just a soup & tossed salad for supper. Hey Brian: I got a nasty email about a post. I laid real low for a few days... Barbara has spotted a few robins last 2 days. I'm cleaning out the garage today.
Air temp 43, damp and rainy today. At least there's not much wind to speak of. The back yard is returning to Lake Mudpit and the dogs are itchin' to get back there and make a mess. Little do they know they are using the front yard temporarily. Haven't seen any robins yet but I did have a varmint in the yard that got a 'leadache' which turned out to be fatal.
Off to see what CaNoodle is up to and maybe back more.

I'm not surprised it was an Omaha station. They're pretty clueless these days. When all else fails, go for the chocolate cake!
Ahhhh, home. Loved the visit - although the bed I slept in leaves something to be desired (not to mention being accompanied by a mini doxy every night). Futons weren't made for people who are 6'5"... I really don't mind the pup. My son says I'm about the only male he gets along with.
Clear sailing except for the usual trouble spots (like the section where I81 and I78 run together), especially on the return trip, which was light to moderate traffic all the way.
Saw a stack train headed south over the bridge over the Susquehanna adjacent to I83 in Harrisburg on the way south- I'm not usually that lucky. That was the only train I saw in motion for the entire trip.
Grandaughter will be a real joy next visit - she's definitely "two," but has warmed up nicely to "Papa," and as she matures, some of the contrariness we had this visit should vanish. Or not.
A neighbor (and good friend of my DIL) gave granddaughter a "Little Tykes" playhouse, which Papa assembled, and granddaughter just loves. "Aunt Missy" loves the kid, too.
After two months of searching in vain for a Wii "Fit Plus" balance board around here, I walked into a store in MD and found two on the shelf. Should have bought both - could have paid for part of my gas with the "premium" I could probably collect here on the other one. Got the Wii Sports "Resort" program, too. Lots of neat games.
Had one (actually two related) mishaps during the trip. Well, I didn't. Granddaughter did. After her birthday party she got sick to her stomach. A lot. With the excitement of the day and all of the junky food she had, we laid it to excitement, junk food, etc. Her dad spent most of the night keeping an eye on her (and not sleeping well). She ended up none the worse for wear.
Same thing happened two nights later, but not quite as bad. We narrowed it down to either the catsup or the ranch dressing. Both got tossed, but we're pretty sure that the ranch dressing had "turned." None of us had had any with her (she likes to "dip" some foods), so nobody else had a problem.
Lesson learned.

Earlier, this morning started out at 50 plus degrees.....It's light overcast. Looks like lots of rain {heavy}, slated for Philadelphia and on up to NYC. 3 to 5" of the stuff.
Trivia: Can anyone answer: What does "Bella Avanti" as related to a restaurant name mean...? I can find {on here}, Bella means "beautiful", and maybe Avanti means "before", but how about the two words as used above....Anyone....? Curious. They do have good food...here in Muncie.
Q - in Italian it means "Good Forward". Is it a basketball themed restaurant?
