Mookie

Going to the farm to wave at CW across our lot lines.  No snow there, either!

Has the cat been into Mud's how-to for survey-dummies book? (waving across lot lines)

Mutt: suspect that that panel turnout/switch is in at least two cars and possibly three or four if it's a high speed turnout (#20 or #24) ...A package turnout can be anywhere from 108 ft long (#9) to 265 feet long (#24) and those rascals are HEAVY!

Hoping Mooks doesn't trade in the net for an axe. Shock (The company axe was here today doing a little pruning and nobody was happy about it)

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  We currently have 31 degrees outside, w/cloudy skies.  High today supposed to be around 39, 40 degrees.

Mookie, I was not able to get on the farm when I first went; apparently, they must have been down.  Tried at least 3 times, could not even get into their front door.  Even Walt could not get into facebook.  I finally got in about 8:30 last night.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.

And on the warmer/serving station this morning:  The usual breakfast fare, ranging from the bagels & bear claws to biscuits, gravy, turkey bacon, sausage, etc., etc.

Going to be taking care of bills, and other errands this morning, into the afternoon, so leftover pork chop abracadbra, etc., will be available to you all for lunchtime.

Everyone have a good morning, and take care.

Good morning Madamozle La Mook and everyone. 31 degrees and clear in Carolina nearing sunrise. The boffins are calling for, get this, .56 inches of rain later. One must endeavour to be accurate, I suppose. We shall see.

With that, see yall later. Stay safe

Well, Florence Regional Airport had a rainfall total of 0.53 inches. Not too bad, huh?

We have sun again this morning.  I am so happy!!! Cool  Willy - maybe 50 this weekend for south Lincoln?

CW - FB was busy crossing wires last nite.  Had to keep slapping them around just to get in door.  Got to farms and was ok - but in and out was tricky.

Sir Chicken - our lot lines are guarded by black lines that you should have in your line of work.  No one can cross them unless they absolutely get permission from the owner.  And they are very straight!

I hate it when management brings an axe to work.  Never a good deal!  Seems like it seldom tops the tree (sorry Tree) but always manages to take out a few more roots!  Happened to me twice and now both trees are dead.  (sorry again Tree)

Good morning, and thanks Willy for the report on our precip. I wasn't able to find it. Can you send me a link? Thanks.

Currently, 37 and partly clear in Carolina. According to one source, it's not gonna change much, but we should have sunny skies until after the weekend. Aah, March!

Thanks, CW, for breakfast. Regarding FB, I didn't have any problems last night, but my home page was full of complaints from other folk having problems of one sort or another, I guess it was selective in it's operation.

Sounds like a good deal for me too, Miz Mooque. Think I will do the same. See ye in the corner.

Mookie - I think 50, or at least upper 40s, will be attainable this weekend. However, there could be some rain (not snow!) on Saturday.

Ms Mook - No problem.

Nice day here, too.  Got a chance to get a couple of fire trucks outside for a bath, and to do some work inside the station as well.

Gotta pack tomorrow, so I can hit the road bright and early Friday AM.  I understand that my granddaughter is definitely two, even though her birthday isn't until Saturday.   Her mom used the term "sassy..."  Should make for an interesting visit!

Last I knew, though, she still likes "Papa."  Big Smile

Whew!  What a busy, busy day around here.  We got the bills all paid, did a little bit of grocery shopping, and fixed supper.  Ours here at home is still cooking, but the Cafe's is ready and on the serving station:

Roast, taters, carrots, shellie beans, corn, tossed salad and dinner rolls.

Larry, be sure and tell granddaughter Happy Birthday from all her "aunties and uncles at the Flat Wheel Cafe/Diner!  And be careful and safe on your trip there and back home.

Now, off to check emails, and might just find a few minutes for my farms and whatever else on facebook.

You all have a good evening, enjoy your supper, and take care.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Clouds are beginning to roll out of our area.  Current temp is 31 degrees, going to a high in the mid 40s today.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.

On the serving station this morning:  your regular breakfast menu:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy.

I have to leave around 9:30 this morning; something is wrong with my knee brace, and I have to meet the brace man at the orthopedic surgeon's office at 11:00 to get the brace readjusted.  I tried to adjust it myself, but could'nt get it adjusted.

So, just in case I'm not back in time for lunch (hopefully, nothing will happen to prevent me from getting back home in time), last night's leftovers will be in the Crock Pots on warm, for you all.

Have a good morning, and take care, everyone.

Just need to make it through today and tomorrow and then it's spring break. My midterm exam for World Literature is unique in that it is a take-home exam and it is entirely on the computer. We need to pose a scholarly (4-5 sentences) question on a particular text and upload it onto the class website. Then we respond to somebody else's question over a different text. Finally, we answer one of three questions that the professor will post. Each answer needs to be about 500 words. Even just a few years ago I never would have dreamed that I'd be taking exams like this.

Willy - a few years ago, I didn't think you had 500 words in you!  You were pretty quiet for the first several meetings.

Sunny again today.  Does wonders for my mood!  Cats are lucky - they can find a sunny spot just about anywhere and lay in it.  Must move hammock to sunny window.

Backyard looks like spring - snow pretty much gone.  Front yard looks like dead winter.  Still lots of snow and all shaded and dark.  Ugh!

Was reminded by a friend that I haven't been in any mischief lately.  Must go find some.  Mischief

Good morning from Gillette, Wyoming! I am still out here with my sister and her husband, and I could be here for another week or two before I head for home in Sioux Falls, SD. We are experiencing a warming trend here in Gillette, the temp here is supposed to get up to 61 degrees! Of course, out here in the flatlands of Wyoming it never gets very cold.

My sister and I have an aunt and uncle who live down in Estes Park, Colorado, and we went down there to visit them last week. The roads were good the whole trip. I saw a lot of coal trains on both the U.P. and the BNSF on the way down there and then again on our way home.

There is a railroad museum housed in the old Union Pacific passenger depot down in Cheyenne, and the exhibits there are very well done. The old roundhouse is still standing in the yard down there in Cheyenne, and had my sister and I gotten there a bit earlier, we could have taken a tour of the roundhouse itself, and seen both of the Union Pacific's operational steam locomotives; #844 and #3985. I was able to get pictures of a Big Boy class 4-8 + 8 -4 #4004, which is sitting in a park about ten blocks from the depot/museum. It is sitting behind a chain link fence. I noticed that the paint on the fireman's side of the boiler is peeling......not good!

My sister here in Gillette works for a dentist and I had my teeth cleaned here about 3 weeks ago. I had an abcessed tooth which needed to come out, so my sister set me up with an oral surgeon here in Gillette, and the tooth came out the day before yesterday. I was amazed at how quckly this doctor had it out once he had numbed me up! Now I need to get used to this one upper molar in my right side being gone, and my upper jaw is going to be a bit numb for a while.

Temp climbing quickly.....Bright sunshine in clear blue skies....Spring is in the distance and perhaps Winter is waning.....And that's great.

Several snow piles around the drive way to our home, but almost 100% bare yard visible now.   Have already started to think if I want to get a roller and roll our lawn....or hire someone to do it, but the time to get it done is approaching fast.  Need it to be good and moist when it's done to be really effective.  Did it last season {myself}, and that was the first in years, and it certainly helped it to be smoothed out....Want the same or better results this season.

Wife just drove away in our automoble to  run thru the car wash, which is indicating how our streets and weather are around us now...Pretty good.

March is a transition month here, and any kind of weather can appear, but it certainly looks nice now.

I've noticed in the past several weeks some buildings {and homes included}, have had monstrous ice hanging from overhangs and spouting...but not on most....Wonder what made the difference.  Our across street neigbors have been in Florida all Winter and at one place on their home the ice cycles almost touch the ground......??

None on our house roof overhang at all....{glad there wasn't}, but don't have that figured out....I realize if heat is escaping up to the underside of a roof, it can melt and freeze and build up and if enough, can back up water to the point it will back up under the shingles and cause leaks....

Anyway....It appears to be a very nice late Winter day unfolding.

.....That is one place that seems to stick in my mind as we traveled across the nation by train back over 55 years ago {for Uncle Sam}, and we stopped briefly there and we could get to the vestibules on our passenger cars and with half open doors, we could get to the fresh air and that smelled so good.....Something about that remains very clear in my memory.

Quentin - we had enormous icicles hanging from our 2nd story until our landlord put in all new gutters.  Now we have some, but they stay pretty small.  Driver has always used a long stick he has to knock them down and now only uses a broom handle.  These are the covered gutters that keep out the twigs and leaves.

Maybe you have good gutters....Approve

I suppose that is possible Jen.....only one location all around the house that seems to require a bit of cleaning in the Summer, and that is a courtyard like shaped space, where there is practicly no sloop on the guttering, near the front door....The remaining lengths of guttering seem to stay clear.

I do wonder though....if some of the structures I'm seeing with this icicle issue if heat is not escaping at the very outside edge of the inside ceiling where insulation  may be at a minimum causing the freezing and thawing cycle.

Now if he will just do the windows!  Thumbs Up

Evening. Got caught up in something and missed checking in this morning. It has been a partly clear day and currently is 54. Tomorrow and Saturday should be up in the 60s if the boffins can be believed. I guess the worst is past, although a few things may pop up here and there till the fat lady sings.  Everyone have a great evening and be careful out there. People's crazy nowadays!

Afternoon all.

It has been a while since I’ve been in here. I have missed you all, and taking part in our conversations.

It is NICE to day! It was about 50*, now it’s about 43, but that’s still a heat wave compared to the 15* temps we have had these past few weeks.

Have a good evening.

Justin

Good Friday morning, everyone.  It looks like we were quite busy in here yesterday and last night!  Justin, welcome back.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Including the hot water for our hot tea drinkers.

And on the serving station:  bagels, bear claws, along with an assortment of doughnuts, danish, and muffins.

Our temp got up to 45 yesterday, but it was very breezy out,and that breeze was quite brisk.  I  think we're supposed to get into the upper 40s today, possibly 50 degrees, with more sunshine.

Mookie, guess neither one of us has gotten into any mischief lately.  Hmm, think we need a planning session, to see what ideas we can come up with!WinkEvil

Everyone have a very good morning, and take care.
