Thanks espeefoamer![:)]

Ahhhh! Tha's something I don't see much of here - the chocolate/peanut butter combo.

Peter (M636C) have you come acroos them in your travels? If you have, what are peanut butter cups like from an Ozzie perspective? I don't think we do as much savoury/sweet combo (at least for me, peanut butter is more on the savoury side of things..) down here, but I am quite happy to try one them.

I have had peanut butter and honey sandwiches now and then - that does taste good....[:p][:p]

Coffee, yes, tons of it. [:)]

Chocolate Pizza, heck no, I am not a chocolate fan (don't anybody tell Mookie). [8D] But just consider the dessert pizza that Pizza Hut and some others sell as apple pie. It is crust, filling and sometimes a small bit of icing, so just don't think of it as pizza because it lacks the cheese, sauce, and meat/vegy toppings.

No, leave off the desert stuff on my pizza too....Best pizza in this area is Pizza King and sold under the name in some parts of the south as Sir Pizza.

....Yuck....Don't mess with peanut butter...Just give me the real plain stuff...peanut butter and say lay it on raisin bread...Wife puts it on celery...That's not for me either. Just had a couple slices of raisin bread toast here [with butter], beside the computer for breakfast this morning....and of course coffee. You see, it take all kinds of us.

Pectin, thats the ingredient I couldnt remember...
Still, well, yuck...
But if it floats your boat, have at it.
I might be spoiled, I grew up on home made perserves and jams, favorite was apple with chopped pecans.
Now, put that on a peanut butter sandwich, and that good eating.

...Peanut butter cups....!! Yes, that's real food. And all the talk of biscuits and gravy...I see that around here too but to go one farther...It should be biscuits, butter and maple syrup...Maybe that's the Pennsylvania in me......Now Ed....on the Jam and Jelly...Wife informs me Jelly is constructed with strained fruit and pectin....and very popular in the east and through this area too....

I can't live without my coffee!! Drink it all day long. Walt drinks coffee about two or three times a week (first thing in the morning, l cup: maybe two cups in one morning).

Ed, jelly is way better than jam or preserves: can't stand those seeds between my teeth.

Peanut butter cups are very, very good!! Don't knock it till you try it [:P]

Mr Coffee??? I think he used to play center field for the Yankees; he also worked for a bank when he wasn't selling the coffee makers. As Casey Stengel once said, "he's dead at the present time."

IMHO, the survival kit is two thermoses (thermi?) full of coffee; don't leave home w/o them.

No, the cake is in Aimee's backpack, along with the pecan brownies.
I have to ask for the cake, but can sneak the brownies in the morning, their good with coffee...

And its a old Norge drip coffee maker, not a Mr Coffee, those dont live very long around here...[:D]

Kevin - 2 things on Mr B -

Don't listen to him - he gets his coffee from Mr. Coffee and he obviously doesn't eat chocolate cake or it would be in his survival kit!

Kevin,
In truth, Colombian coffee is still grown the old fashioned way, they hand plant seedlings on mountain sides, it takes about four years for the tree to produce.

The higher the altitude, the faster the beans ripen, making the coffee they produce a little more smooth flavored.

The beans are hand picked, there is no way to get a combine or picking machine up there, and manual labor is cheap in Colombia.

Transportation is still by mule or donkey, the beans are washed, then air dryed, bagged and taken to market.

The Colombian goverment oversees the coffee crop, it is one of their biggest exports, (besides cocaine) and any coffee bean taken to market must pass several test for flavor, acidity, aroma and smoothness.

Once here, depending on which coffee company receives them, the beans are roasted, ground and packaged for sale.

The longer the roasting, the more bitter the acid in the beans becomes, and more bitter the coffee, the finer the grind, the more bite, or strength the coffee has.

Lightly roasted, and corse ground beans make a smooth, full body, flavored cup of coffee.

Heavy or long roasted, fine ground beans make strong, bitter coffee, ground into a powder, it is mixed with water for a popular drink in Colombia.

The higher the coffee tree is in altitude, the less acid and caffeine is produced.

This type of coffee is called Coffea Arbica, yeilds the most smooth and flavorful coffee.

Trees grown lower down, or on plains and valleys, is know as Coffea Robusta, or canephora, yeilds a more bitter, heavy acid coffee, most often used for instant coffees, and blended into comerical coffees, what you get at a 7-11, or a convience store, commonly referred to as a "hotel blend".

Coffee is grown from Mexico to Paraguay in Central and South America, through out central Africa, in Turkey and Saudia Arabia, India, Thialand, Vietnam.

Small, privatly owned and grown coffee crops have been grown inTexas, but our climate isnt very condusive to the tree producing both the flower and the bean at the same time, which is when the beans should be harvested.

Coffee is one of the few foods, except fruit crops, that gets to your home almost exactly like it left the tree.

Decafe coffee is a insult to humanity, they soak and wa***he beans in a soap, which leaches the acids, cafeine and oils out of the beans, you might as well grind up cardboard and brew up a cup of that.

Coffee is not a drink, its the missing fifth food group.

In case you wondered, I LIKE coffee.

Aimee claims a pack of smokes and a thermos of coffee is my version of a survival kit...

Yeah, and ???

HGeres another point to the argument.. I think "jelly" and i would agree with Ed, is rather gross, Contains a certain thing that makes it unkosher.. uncosher.. however you want it spelt.. Not sure what the ingrediant is, it's jsut not cosher..or kosher..or whatever-sher.

ED: stop looking at the coffee boxes. Juan Valdez is Dead, and the donkeys aren't employed anymore. it's all done by machines.. little robobts wait for a volcano to erupt and then go collect the beans after

I'm sure thats NOT how it works.. imagine Coffee is like Dirt because it comes from the ground. Next thing you'll all be eating is pre-chewed gum or something. Not a cofee fan, Never have been. can't seem to get the taste, And to top it all of, to acidic for my stomach.

Ed youre like my dad, he likes his cofee darker then night.

Like REAL dark.

if its not dartk enough, he poors it down the drain... I jsut se Juan va,lldez breaking down on the floor and saying... "Que Face-a Amigo.. Oye como Va.. Now i need someoen to tell me what I jsut said.

If i swore, i do apologize.. i didn't know.

Besides where do coffee beans come from? Is it a fancy name for brazillian Dirt?

YOU ALL DRINK DIRT!!

In my opinion, jelly is just this side of dog snot, not worth wasting a biscut on, for that matter, not even a slice of toast.

Jam is also know as fruit perserves down south.

Ed
Dog snot????? Ahem.....

I prefer jelly to jam! It is easier to eat - you don't get those little piece of fruit dragging off the toast and onto your new white shirt/blouse, it doesn't get caught in all your fillings (seeds) and............................cheaper!

So Mookie - you always say how much you love chocolate cake. What about something like chocolate chunk brownies or something like that? You have to like chocolate brownies don't you?!

What about chocolate pizza? Something like melted chocolate for the sauce and then some chocolate cheese and chocolate Canadian bacon (I did Canadian Bacon for you Kevin since you're from Canada!). All chocolate pizza, sounds good to me!

Willy

Ah Willy - the Mookie is very discriminating. She loves chocolate cake, but not all chocolate frosting - it should be raspberry flavored chocolate or just a thin, very light whipped chocolate frosting. Other favorite is brownies with english walnuts or pecans. And the cake kind - not the fudgy ones.

Other than that - there is no chocolate that the Mookie really, really likes. Don't care for ice cream all that much - just once in a great while and candy, fudge, anything overly sweet, ugh. Pizza should be hamburger or shrooms or chic...er sorry MC....turkey (cof, cof, gah) light sauce and with everything - a big glass of cold skim milk.

Chocolate is like life - it should be sampled just a little at a time. And definitely not on pizza!

(and don't tell anyone, but the Mookie does like carrot cake - almost as much as chocolate...) [8)]

Years ago (I am a firm believer in the policy, Don't Ask, Don't Tell) I was in management with Pizza Inn. This was before dessert pizzas were ever thought of or made. We had a young couple with a small child and the child wanted a chocolate pizza. I did some quick thinking and decided it was possible. Just add some chocolate pudding to the crust (no chesse or meat toppings) and bake like a regular pizza. We just happened to be across the street from an IGA so I ran over and bought a can of chocolate pudding and made them a chocolate pizza (no charge). They were amazed that we would go to that much trouble for them since this wasn't normal at that time. Dessert pizzas now are common but not then.
