QUOTE: Originally posted by CShaveRR We could set aside a table for those wishing to play Mexican Train. That's a popular pastime at our family reunions each year. Perhaps surprisingly, I don't participate. The dominoes don't have to go as high as 15, but I suspect that it's a case of the higher, the better. (I suspect the management frowns on bringing pizza from the "outside" in here.) No coffee here, thanks! Just heard on the news that drinking a can of sugared soft drink is like eating four Peanut Butter Cups (which I also can't stand). I'm a heavy drinker of soft drinks, so cutting back by the equivalent of dozens of those things is probably significant. Which is why you'll see this fairly big guy ordering diet sodas with his burgers (and a super-sized drink is anywhere from two to three twelve-ounce cans).

QUOTE: Originally posted by cherokee woman When I first started drinking coffee (around age 4), Mama would put sugar & milk in it for me. I grew up on a farm, so we also had the cream, but the only way I EVER liked cream was ICE CREAM. Hey, anybody ready for homemade ice cream: real thing, not store-bought?

While we are talking about "diet" type drinks, I'm always amused by the people that grab a bottle of Diet Coke, but then proceed to order hot chips. Hmmm...on a diet??[%-)] Is it just my imagination or does something seem strange when you see those 350lb people sitting in a resturant drinking a diet coke.... You're gonna have to do a little more than just switching to diet pop folks.

QUOTE: Originally posted by jeaton Kozzie We sometimes use "heavy cream"-36% milk fat- or maybe more often "Half and Half"-18% I think- also some non-dairy creamers are popular, soy based I think. Whole milk is sold with 4% milk fat, Milk is also sold at 2%, 1%, and non-fat, the last be just about slightly whiter than water. Common comment with an offer of coffee-"I don't have cream, is Milk OK? A lot of Wisconsin produced milk is made into those stupid hats worn by Packer Fans, (Green Bay's NFL football team-you are excused if you didn't know that). No, I just checked and I'm wrong-they are foam rubber. Jay

I was on a diet years ago and could drink coffee or tea without sugar and all the diet drinks I wanted. Once you actually get used to a diet soda you just can't go back and drink a "regular" one. If you are use to a diet soda a real soda is like drinking a bottle of pancake syrup. I can drink tea with or without sugar, but with is much better. Now coffee is a different story. Black, no sugar, no cream. Just the way God intended it to be consumed. [;)] Well I worked another 10 hour shift so I am going to walk the dog and take my nap soon. Yall have a good day. [:)] I agree with Jim - I drink diet vanilla Coke, eat no sugar on my cereal and drink my coffee black. If you get away from sugar for awhile - you can't go back. It is like skim vs whole milk. We have way too much sugar and salt in our food today - and if you get away from both - you would be surprised at how horrible it tastes when it is oversugared/oversalted. Mookie likes to eat too well to diet, but don't use sugar or salt for those reasons. Plus her teef hurt if she gets too much sugar - except chocolate cake. [:I]
