I'm a diet soda person, thanks! My spouse would prefer that I take that without caffeine, please. (I had to give up my favorite--Diet Mountain Dew--for that reason.) The Diet Rite flavors around here contain Splenda (a non-nutrative sweetener derived from sugar) instead of aspartame.

Y'know, Sis, I really don't know what all my spouse watches on TV, because I'm rarely at home during prime time. We don't have the premium channels, either. But she controls the remote! (On my days off, I'm content to watch the news and Leno.)

Elsewhere, I promised that I'd mention our eventful Mother's Day. The event was the announcement, courtesy of my elder daughter, that we should be grandparents by the end of the year.

No, no, no...Real RC Cola
no diet anything...yuck.
If you knew what aspartimine turns into when it gets over 120f for any length of time, you would never drink the stuff.

It begins to brake down into formaldehyde, wood alcohol, and a few more nasty things you really dont want to drink.

Wonder how long your diet drink sits in the back of that delivery truck, in the sun...

Theres a reason you are not supposed to cook with sweet n' low...

Ever know someone who gets headaches after they drink too many diet sodas?

If you took EMT or paramedic training in the late 80s, you most likely got the scoop on aspartimine posioning.

No way they will take it off the market, though, the FDA was bulldozed by the drink makers lobby...but of course, these are the same people who couldnt find a link to addictive smoking and lung cancer, either...duh!

They have a special time of the year when people from all over the country go there and display and sell their "crafts". Outhouses painted on anything seem to sell real well. Last time I was there was several years ago. For some legal reason they no longer sell "Lye Soap. People used Lye soap for years, now they can't even sell it as a novelty. They do still sell the saltwater taffy. And let me tell you, the Black Walnut Brittle is "to die for". Down in Branson on the main drag of the old town (and just around the corner from the depot ) is a candy store where they hand make all their candy. Pepsi has kicked Diet 7 Up out of their family. Remember all the commercials during the last few Superbowls about Sierra Mist. Now RC has the 7 UP franschise around here anyway. I try to help out 7 Up all I can. I like to help the little guys.

Speaking of pop has anyone ever tried that Jones cola stuff where you get to design your own lables?

...Jen, as I was checking the weather channel Saturday night...[right after our Indiana Pacer's won their 2nd game of round two in the playoffs...], I noted you folks in Lincoln, Nebraska were being treated to a pretty heavy weather system moving through....Was that accurate..?

I don't agree - but nicely....I think he knows exactly that he is a spoiler and does it for whatever reason. Maybe his 15 min of fame over and over.

Jim - you didn't wa***he cups last nite, so you are getting a slightly used one!

Ohh Jim...don't use that one.....too late..........we were using that one a spitoon last night playing cards....
ahem - Dan - first of all - GAH!

But between just the two of us - I have something I am very proud of .....stop it!......in my possession. I have a cut glass LADIES spitoon. It is smaller than the old brass ones and has actual tobacco stains etched in the bottom inside.

Unlike my grandmother who watched in horror as a young lady served donuts at a tea in an old chamber pot - totally unaware of how it had been used - this has never been used by me.

Donut anyone?

Yeah - Grandma didn't take one either!

BC - I met your spouse and she could never have the same bad taste in tv as the driver. I won't subscribe to premium channels cuz it would just give him more to flip thru!. If they had a channel called "Garbage" - he'd probably watch it. Ick!

Our political system really needs an overhaul. We only have 2 choices and one of them we will be stuck with for 4 years. I guess it could be worse--Greenspan could be running. That man has WAY toooooo much power. He almost singlehandedly decides monetary issues for this country.

Well I need more coffee. Straight, black, hot and in a cup of course. lol
