Tom,
Hope you all didn't have any damage. We really are still working on last years
contribution. Plus we have had several good ones? this year.
It's begining to be an almost everyday job, going out and picking up debris.[:(]

Jim,you can have all the rain you want. I would say that we would send you our water hose, but I don't think it's that long.
We've had so much rain, that our yard is looking like a jungle, and we are supposed to have had less rain this year, than we did this time last year.

Man this weather is crazy. [V]

It seems like everybody but us are getting or have gotten rain lately.

We are so dry here my yard is dead. [:(] [xx(] [V]

In February we had tons of rain and all the creeks were full. No anymore, they are bone dry.

So you all can send me some rain, no storms, just rain. [8D]

Thankx CW for the o so wonderful biscuts and gravy, watermelon and cantolope. I tore it up!!!! That was a good brunch.

Lets see nothing really happened yet so far. I'm just sitting here posting stuff on the forums and listing to (guess what I'm not lising to classical today) I'm listing to thrash metal (rock). It's a band called System of a Down.

Wether here is pretty good. It's suposed to go up to 83 here. Tomorrow it's suposed to go up to 85 w/o rain!!! I think I might have to go out railfaning that day. I'm going to go later on today. I'm going to go to Abrams Yard in right outside of Norristown Pa, and I'm going to go to West Conshohocken, PA too. They really arn't far from each other.

4 bucks for a watermelon that size, does sound a little expensive to me.
Now a Cantalope this size, well that's more than I want to pay.

Make SURE Larry sees that recipe. He just doesn't know what he is missing. Jelly on biscuits, what a shame. [:(] [:p] [;)]

I have been looking forward to some home grown watermelon. The store bought melons just don't cut it. [:(] They recently wanted 4 bucks for a melon bearly bigger than a basketball. [:(!] [:(] [:(!]

Jen, I, too, am sorry for your loss. CW, I hope your back is better.

I have been moving and have been out of the loop. But right now, the sound of my husband's voice on the phone is not in my ear, but in the room! There is nothing more sweet than the surprise of a phone call that asks you to come to a different state in a week's notice to visit someone you love.

I pray that my good news lifts your spirit a little, Jen. No amount of words can replace a loved one or beloved pet, but with hope, a witness to the goodness and blessings of life, can bring a smile and lessen the pain. I pray that you will not grieve too long.

Joe, I want to say "Thank you" again tonight for taking care of the supper
buffet. Finally got everything taken care of today, and all is calm here.

Our rain, we've had since Tuesday evening, is finally over! Although, we
do have a chance of rain in the morning, Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday.
The five day outlook, looks rain-free for Wednesday, then MORE rain
from next Thursday through the weekend.[:(]

Sorry to hear about the real Mookie, may she(?) rest in peace.

I was sorry to see my sister's first cat, Tiger, go. He was always a good lap cat companion, even if he did make it hard to read Trains.

My sister still feels she has a connection to the cat, though. She gets the shivers occasionally, says it's Tiger brushing up against her in the afterlife.

Again, may the real Mookie rest in peace.

I'm sorry to hear about the death of Mookie. I was very upset when my cat Patches died. She had complications with her liver and so we had to put her down because she was in pain. We missed having a cat so much, we had no choice but to bring another sweat little cat in our lives; Misty. Not as wild and funny as Patches who played tag, ate pizza and cheezes, gave a kiss and like to chase bees. Misty is a character in her own way. He tries to talk like a human, her meow sounds like she is trying to say hello; she pets you, she makes noises when you poke her like poking the Pillsbury dough boy, and like to chase lasers. I believe she is 9 or 10 now.

Mookie I'm real sorry to hear about the unfortunite death of your beloved pet. God Bless.

Ok what happened to me today?? Absolutlely nothing. But something did happen to me yesterday. I was working with a friend of mine at my school's auto shop on a 6 cyl engine, that hasn't been started in over 1 year. It was sitting on a cart with wheels. So we wheeled it ouside and fooled with it. I put a new fuel pump on it and removed the headers. I did this as a joke so we could see blue flames and hear the power of the engine. So, I got to start it up it cranks over and I let it warm up a bit. Then I opened up the throttle over and over again. That was really loud!!!! I had nearby classes coming outside to see what all the noise was. That was fun, but after a while we ran out of gas. Then a couple of the guys heald races with the lawn mower (spelling). Then after that a friend of mine did a burn out in the parking lot, which was funny because you wouldn't expect a guy like him to do something like that. Oh my the stuff that goes on at my school's shop, it's a wonder we learn anything. lol

Townsend,
Don't exactly know how you feel about grits, but they can be had by special request.
The cook could care LESS about them, she doesn't like them, but will fix them
for people that do like them.

Yesterday if I'm not mistaken, was the day that a "F6" tornado ripped through Oklahoma in 1999 near Oklahoma City. I don't think there has been a more powerful tornado in history.

Yesterday, several tornadoes broke out in Manitoba near Brandon.

Not that long ago, on that date in 1985, twin tornadoes devastated Barrie, Ontario causing much of the city to have to be rebuilt. They registered F3 but some of the debris patterns suggested F4. In my city, we had a F5 rip the guts out of the little township of Merriton before a group of townships merged to become St.Catharines in the 30s I believe.

Has anybody noticed that tornado outbreaks are becoming more frequent and popping up in odd places and/ or becoming stronger then in the past?

Here's a recipe I was able to find quickly on line. It's similar to the one I use at home:

BAKING POWDER BISQUITS

3-1/2 Cups FLOUR
6 teaspoons BAKING POWDER
8 Tablespoons SHORTENING or BUTTER ( I prefer butter cause you don't have to add 1 teaspoon salt then)
1-3/4 Cup MILK (BUTTERMILK for Buttermilk Bisquits)

Measure FLOUR, BAKING POWDER and BUTTER into large bowl, with fork blend together until granular. Mix in the MILK until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl then turn out onto floured table or board and knead for the count of 20.

Roll out 3/4 inch thick, cut to desired size and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 400 degree oven until golden brown, 12/15 minutes depending on your oven.

Fast, easy, and delicious.

For a real treat, use warm (oven fresh!) bisquits, split and buttered, under the strawberrys you made up for strawberry shortcake. Add whipped topping to taste.

Biscuits are less sweet than scones. Just flour, baking powder, hsortening and milk. Because they are easy to make and quick to bake, they are particularly popular for breakfast, can be made over campfires, etc. Buttermilk biscuits take yeast and have to rise.
Don't get us started on English muffins.

Whats in an American Biscuit? I visited the U. S. last year and loved every minute of it, but on Amtrack i cot a bit of a surprise. I ordered breakfast, bacon, egg so on, and the steward asked if i wanted toast or biscuit with my breakfast. I ordered the biscuit thinking i'd get what Americans must call a cookie to go with my tea, but i got a sort of bun. A bit like what we Brits call a Scone and serve with cream and jam. It wasn't bad just not what i was expecting.
