Sounds like good weather for "cold butt euchre."

It's a contest involving a card game. The euchre you play by the rules (I'm rusty on them, so you'll have to dig out your own Hoyle). The contest is that you play sitting on a big block of ice. Last one sitting wins.

Been called a Rummy but never played it. Euchre is my game of choice. Maybe we could get a tournament up at Rochelle? We could get a banner made up for the Diner and all of us could pose on the webcam. [(-D]

How about a game of 500 Rummy? Always liked to play that.

CW, actually it's gorgeous outside up here. Little hot today, but it would be a fantastic night for some night catfishing. Moon is so bright you could play cards on the deck.

Well Willy, I'm still here. Kind of in and out, making up desserts before the
heat and humidity hits.

It's a "best of" from the "10 Best Series." It apparently came bundled with the Jim Croce "best of" CD that I also got...

Anybody else enjoying that beautiful full moon tonight? Just got in off the deck after GD ballgame. Thought I'd stop in, but Diner looks pretty quiet. Willy

I have some feeling there now--I wish I didn't. The ice cream is good, but those icy fruit bars actually feel better!

The remaining teeth (pending a crown here) want to gnaw on something. Chicken Parm might fill the bill. Thanks, Cher!

Supper tonight is: chicken parmigiana & penne in tomato mozzarella sauce.
Thought I'd make something new. Tastes pretty good. Hope everyone enjoys
it.

Carl, I have plenty of ice cream treats for you after your root canal. Hope you
are not hurting too badly this evening.

Ok Sorry I missed Father 's Day yesterday. :( I had to go to a softball game that I lost. It was awful ......my team lost 9 to 2. I didn't even get a chance to bat. When my turn was up, the girl before me struck out. I just through the batts down and forgot about it.

CW I missed breakfast, and lunch today. I had to go to school. Boring........... nothing really happened.!!! I did get to see a empty gondola train, with a NS SD40-2 on the point. The train had mostly NOKL gons. Notihng to exciting but, hey it's better than nothing.

The weather here in Philly wasn't too bad today. It went up to 76 degrees in my area. Tomorrow it's suposed to be 80 something, oh and I have shop class tomorrow so it's going to be Hottt Hott in there!!

I head a roomer about some of the diner members getting together in Rochelle. I WANT IN!

Oooooooooh!

Keep the frozen fruit bars coming!

It's surprisingly warm out there today, and I had a surprise root canal this morning. The cold in my mouth feels so good. I'm not going to work today.

Numbness should wear off in about an hour.

Good Morning All! Been gone since Tuesday. Six pages to go thru. Stepdaughter had a bad diabetic spell. Not doing her shots and eating right. Got very sick. I ending up rushing her to hospital Tuesday morning. She spent 4 days in ICU. About lost her, very stessful week on Mama and me. She's at the edge of the woods, not quite out, but I think she now realizes the seriousness of her situation, and what she has to do to keep things right. at age 20 she was just kind of blowing things off and didn't realize how far and fast things could get out of whack.
One thing I missed all week was the good Diner food. Hospital cafeteria food SUCKKKS. [tdn][tdn]
Anyway am back home now trying to water plants and yard to keep them alive in this drought. Thirty miles in any direction and the grass is nice and green, around the sandbar here it looks like late August. The yards are brown and crunchy and the corn and beans are wilting. Even the bottom ground has 3/4 " cracks. It's getting bad. Nothing in forecast either.
In reading the last few pages, first off Happy Birthday to those I missed. Judging from all the posts about the White Rabbit, Alices Resturaunt, Led Zepplin, and Alice B. it appears as though there are more "Lost Souls from the Sixties" than I thought. I thought I was the only one. [8D]
A DINER DAY IN ROCHELLE [bow] [8D] Name the date and I'll be there. If any local legwork is needed let me know. I'm omly about 45 minutes away by interstate. Will give some thought to naming it. The obvious would be " The 1st Annual MookFest and Litterbox Consorteum" or " The Diners Cooks and Waitresses Appreciation Party"
Well, better go move sprinklers, will stop back in later for a cool drink. It's good to be back [:D] Willy

Joe, sounds like a good trip!

Breakfast this morning will be all the regular items on the breakfast menu.

Will have tuna casserole for lunch special today. Going to be a lovely day
again, so will serve all the meals out on the covered patio. By the weekend,
we'll probably want to figure out a way to put an air conditioner on the patio:
supposedly will have 90+ temps and very high humidity.

Burgers on the grille today (I had to cook, but I don't mind), followed by fresh strawberry shortcake over biscuits. At the cottage (which makes everything taste good.)

Now I have to decide how I'll spend the gift certificate from Internet Model Trains that my son and daughter-in-law gave me, as I listen to the John Denver CD my daughter and her boyfriend gave me...

Well,
Here what’s cooking on the back porch...

Brisket, with honey and brown sugar glaze, ranch style beans, (home made) with brazed chopped peppers and diced onions, corn on the cob, corn bread, broccoli with melted Velveeta, tossed salad, iced tea...

Dessert, orange pound cake with vanilla ice cream, or cheesecake (Aimee’s own recipe) and to finish, Gevalia Dark Roast coffee...

Okay, since none of you Dads on the forum have given me any suggestions
for supper tonight, here is what you'll get:

grilled chicken breasts with brocolli and cheesy potatoes, along with a garden
salad. Hope you guys are all enjoying your Father's Day.

Jay, you are right. There are nine months left to the assignment. I guess the woman in me just automatically places the term "nine months" with expanding family numbers.

Okay, I've made note of Rochelle Diner Call (RDC) as a suggestion. I will ask someone at TRAINS if they still do a day at Rochelle. Maybe they don't anymore. August sounds good to me otherwise.

For breakfast I'll have some of those scrambled eggs and bacon. And Happy Father's Day to all you dads, stepdads, etc.

How about Rochelle Diner Call (RDC)?

I guess Trains doesn't publicize its fall outings there, because that is the kind of party I might want to crash. I'm torn--wanting to let the Trains staff join the diner crowd or aiming for sometime in August when I'm hoping Sarah Warner would be able to join us there.

So, unless and until I find out when/if Sarah is coming west, I'll welcome just about any date before the northerly breezes make things chilly.

Umm, sorry [:I], I was assuming 9 months as the time left for the overseas tour. Maybe it is an age thing but for me it seems like any number of months will go by in about week.

Count us in for a day in Rochelle. I kind of like the "Trains" day but but given Rochelle is just a two hour hop from Delavan, we are good for just about any day.

Today in Georgia it is almost too cool to go out on the lake. Not!!!

Good Sunday morning everyone! Think I am feeling a little bit better this a.m.:
no aches or pains in the ole tum-tum! Let's hope it stays that way!!

Breakfast brunch will be: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, cantalope &
watermelon balls, pancakes w/syrup, or whatever you want over them, scrambled
eggs, or toast & cereal.

All you Dads: Happy Father's Day to each and every one of you. Now, would you
be kind enough to give me some ideas for your Father's Day supper tonight?
Please let me know by 2 p.m., so I can start preparing your Father's Day supper!
