Fantastic variety of good stuff, Emma!

My parents used to plant a vegetable garden every year when we had the property for it--corn and tomatoes were always there; beyond that it could be just about anything. And the asparagus (like it or not), blackberries, and blueberries grew wild around there.

(I, by the way, don't mind asparagus, but it has developed an undesirable physical effect on me--leave it at that!)

Willy, if you want fried green tomatoes, I'll fry them for you: even though I don't like
them myself. But there's several dishes I don't like, but I'll fix them for other people
to enjoy.

Card games sound cool, I've got a poker set at home with 500 asst'd chips (sorry, not the nice clay ones) and two decks of cards. I'm only about an hour and 45 minutes from Rochelle, just give me the day, I can try to make it.

The only good thing about the three h's is that it makes the corn grow. It hit 90 today in Madison, supposed to be this warm for the next few days, hope it cools in time for the semi pulls in Tomah this weekend.

So I'm to assume that ordering them up in the Diner would get me booted to the curb. I promise I would eat them out on the patio. We could fry them on the sidewalk up here today. Still about 92 on the bank thermometer at 6:30. Good night to stay in AC. I know all you guys in Arizona are going "**ssy" but we've got the other two H's.

CW-What's your thoughts on fried green tomatoes? Not the movie. Although I enjoyed it, even if it was listed as a chick flick. My favorite part is when she bashes up the VW in the parking lot and says "I may be slower but I've got better insurance" Also some good steam scenes. Willy

OK I can handel any type of veggie except Eggplant. Oh goodness do I hate it!! My mom used to feed it to me 24/7. I got away from it now. However, I am one of those weird people who likes asparagus (spelling). I put it in my fried rice, I sometimes eat it raw too.

Carl you hit the nail on the head today, card games at Rochelle would be awsome to pass the time away. We can even have porker chips and what not. Um lets see nothing happened to me today really. We goofed off in my shop class again today. We ripped a Subaru wagon apart because, it was going to the junk yard. That was halarious. Some of the guys ripped out the console, dash, radio, gagues, fuse pannel. Someother things. One of the guys also tore the steaing wheel off. I found a staple gun, and loaded it up and started stapeling the tires. That was funny. I have it at home with me. Other than this we did manage to do a little something with HVAC (Heating Ventalating and Air Conditioning) today, we just evacuated someone's AC system that's about it.

Mookie, there's only one way I can eat squash. It has to be the yellow summer
squash, and it has to be peeled, cut into cubes, and fried with potatoes &
onions. And you have to be sure that the squash is small, and not too big.

And as far as eggplant and asparagus are concerned, they go directly into
the garbage!! No way will I eat either of them.

Okay: won't fry any more yellow squash here in the diner. I don't like that
myself, but do know other people like it.

And I'll not put any squash in the fried potatoes tonight for supper.

I can handle the squash - squashed, with some butter and maybe the appropriate seasonings. Eggplant and asparagus, on the other hand, are best on somebody else's table.

fry them for supper also. Maybe next week.

Oh, I guess this is a good place to tell everyone that I will be gone untill Monday at a throwing camp (discus, shotput, etc) so I wont be on the forums. I think that I might be able to sneak in some railfanning on the way home though. If I do I will take some pictures and post them when I get back.

I planted squash, zuccini, cucumbers, lettuce, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn and probably a few more but I can't remember them right now. No I did not plant asparagus. I do like asparagus but they don't grow at all where I live and the reason that I grow squash is that the squa***hat they sell in the store is horrible.

This is a very interesting thread. It seems to be all off topic but there needs to be somewere to talk about the rest of the world (although trains are most of my life).

Happy Eating!

Carl, card games would be great at Rochelle. I could bring a Karaoke setup (one of my sideline businesses when not playing in the band) and we could yodel in the park. Usually achohol is a contributing factor in Karaoke though. Liquid courage!
CW- 3 H's here again. 30% chance of storms tonight! Yeah! Just a light breakfast. Too hot for eating. Already in the 80's here.
Mook-No opposable thumbs does make it hard for cards. Been trying to teach Harley the wonder mutt for years to play Euchre for years but I don't think she understands left from right so she doesn't get the bower thing. Neighbors have a cottonwood, so we know all about "snow in June"

I suppose card games would be all right if you wanted to while away the seconds between trains at Rochelle!

Sis, I'd need refresher courses on all of those games!

Cher, I'm feeling much better this morning. A normal breakfast will do me well. Then I'm out the door to join my wife on a three-hour shift answering phons for our classical-music radio station's fund drives. After that, a little shopping (at LaGrange!) and going to get fitted for a tux (wedding's less than a month away!).

How about a game of "Bull Poker"? Also a "last one sitting wins" game.

Seriously, just got back from a poker tourney in Madison, happy I lasted nearly 2 hours. Didn't lose any money (it being a free game and all), but had a good time.
