Very warm in this part of Illinois. Have a great day.

'mornin all! Predicted to be in the 94 degree range here in Western Chicago burbs tdoay though only 65 right now (wow, hope they are wrong about 94) and up close to 100 on Friday before cooling down for the weekend (to a chilly 82).
Well, took the day off for our 32nd. wedding anniversary and my better half is out shopping for a couple of hours...we are going to a movie matinee and dinner at a little Italian place tonight (I might manage a half hour or so of railfanning this morning before Mrs. gets back from the mall).

Larry - it is a salad - you put broccoli flowerets, sunflower seeds, raisins, purple onion diced, bacon bits and maybe cheese - mix with dressing made with mayo, cream/milk and sugar - it is to die for - and if I eat the whole bowl, well, RIP Again Mookie!

Unlike CW - this fuzz head eats broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts - anything but that awful squash/asparagus/eggplant/okra! Ugh! Don't do stewed tomatoes either!

There will be a ceremonial bonfire behind the diner. Fire Department has been alerted. After making all those fries for Matt, that apron is a fire hazard.[4:-)]

I'm probably going to be sorry I asked, but what in the name of all that is edible can you possibly make out of broccoli and raisins? If this thread is going to continue to subject us all to detailed discussions of asparagus and other unmentionable vegetables, I'm going to have to open a rail McDonald's.

puff puff - (yes puff was a cat!) - I am out of breath. Forgot to stop by the diner - rattled around on the forum and then remembered I was hungry.

So in summary - if asparagus is in heaven - well - best be on the other end.

Joe have a good trip! Be careful. Say Hi to Nora!

MC - I will try to watch for the locomotives - will have to write down this description.
Stay out of the sun - I will fry my own chicken, thank you!

CW - I am making a broccoli, sunflower seed, raisin etc salad - I will keep it on the other side of the diner with a big spoon.....(for me and anyone that likes that salad...YUM!)

Good morning, folks. Already close to 70 degrees this morning, and humidity is
way up also. High temp projected here today: 91. UGGH!!

Have plenty of bacon and tomatoes left for breakfast this morning. (No, not any
left over from supper last night.) Have fried up more bacon for breakfast.
Will also have sausage and biscuits and gravy. Even have some more cantalope
for breakfast.

Wonder where the Mookster is this morning. Haven't seen her come in this
morning, and I've looked in every little corner she usually disappears to.

Willy, pulled up your band's link. If you ever want to meet your twin, come to
Louisville. Mutt and I have a friend, and you could be his exact double, except,
he hardly has any hair on his head.

I'm back, after a great evening with my daughter. Wife and fiance joined the two of us in Elmhurst for ice cream (we got off the train early for that). This was complicated by the heretofore-forgotten fact that Wednesday is Cruise Night in City Centre (a.k.a. Downtown) Elmhurst--saw some neat old cars. They do it right, there.

Earlier today, Linda went back to her college to use their computers to arrange some music for the string quartet to play at her wedding (they are the music--no organist is planned). We then met for supper (yes, I had my BLT!), and walked over to the concert, and walked back to the train afterwards. She told us that this was the best birthday she's ever had.

Normally I wouldn't do this on the Forum, but given the amazing coincidence, I couldn't resist. In the last movement of the Mahler Fourth Symphony, the soprano is singing as a child describing what Heaven is like. Many meats are mentioned, and several fruits, but only one vegetable specifically. Guess what...asparagus!

Yes, the green weeds stood out in the brown grass. I wouldn't have bothered, but it was too tall in the area where Pat had watered the flowers.

Emma, what kind of camp are you attending? It's obviously at a college or somewhere that you have access to the Internet. Both of my girls went to music camp at the University of Illinois for several summers.

Oh, and Sarah, speaking of cards, I'll bring a deck of our most recent acquisition. Linda and Chris will have their names and wedding date on decks that will be the favors at their reception. The cards also have cartoon characters specially drawn by the artist on whose web-site Linda met her future husband.

Evenin' all! Went to GD last ball game, watered plants till dark, thought I'd stop in for a snack and a cold drink and watch the Cubs game. They're getting spanked.
CW- BLTs [bow] I'm going upstairs when I get done to work on the ROCK now that it's cooled down, so could you deliver it upstairs? Ideal meal for hot summer night.
Joe- does Carl mean that dead, brown stuff I mowed 3 weeks ago? All I've got is watergrass around the edges of the flower beds. Looks like the last week of August around here.
Mudchicken- any idea where they are going? If you hear any info let me know. I'll put the question on some of the yahoo groups I'm on.
Well ,stay [8D] everyone Willy

Mookie, CopCar and CoRailfan:

Be on the lookout for two Kennecott Copper Co. GP-38's coming eastbound. Should be in Denver tonight. Engine numbers 978 and 911, were tucked -in behind the power on the EB BNSF merger accomodation trackage rights train headed through Glenwood Canyon on UP's Moffat Tunnel Sub at 11am this morning . These are the yellow and black units with the raised cabs. They do stand out in a herd of locomotives!

CW thanks for those BLTS!!!!!!!!! I love them. [dinner]

JOE HAPPY B-Day, and God bless. [bday]

Randy, yes if you bring the cards to Rochelle that would be great!!! I have a stack of cards from the Trump Plaza but, I think yours might be better. I unfortunitly live probally well over 700 miles from Rochelle. I live in the great state of PA in Philly. Which sometimes isn't so great in terms of freight action. Oh well.

Carl I hope you and Linda had a good time today, hopefully you'll tell me all about it because I'm ancious to hear about it. Wish her a happy b-day for me [:D]

Toof is pretty well gone--post and crown beginning next week. No pain problems, though.

I've been on the computer too long--have to do some lawn work before going to the park. It's low 80s out there; will definitely need a shower after the grass goes.

Willy: You can type with only a dewclaw - you just overwork your twoclaw....

It's the being short to the ground that is a pain!

Looked at your picture - read the information - nope - your music is too new for me!

Brother Carl - how's toof? Must not be too bad - you are having lunch!

Gotta go lay in shade - it's in the 90's - but we must think positive......it ain't icy!

Happy birthday, Joe! It's my baby girl's birthday too, so I'll be all "caked" out, as it were.

(Baby girl is 22--her "square" birthday--she's the one who's getting married in less than a month now.)

Tina, I'm still OK with any date you pick for Rochelle. I might be able to push a couple of helpful buttons for the people who will look up from their card games to watch the trains.

Cher, would it be possible to get a couple of good-sized BLTs to go for tonight? I will take 'em to Chicago for when Linda (baby girl) and I go to the concert at Grant Park (Mozart Exaltate Jubilate and Mahler 4, if anyone's interested).

GOOD Morning all!
Stepdaughter update- She got home yesterday. Doing much better. After the "reality check" and DRs strict orders I think she's finally "got it" and is going to walk the straight and narrow path. Thanks to Tina and all the others for prayers and thoughts. They really do make a difference. It makes you realize not to sweat the small stuff as it can all come to a screeching halt on any given day. She's going to move back home for a couple months to get back on her feet, both physically and financially. We are trying to figure out a bedroom situation, as THE ROCK has taken over the upstairs room and Mama's porcelain dolls have taken over downstairs spare room.Mama gave me that puppy dog eyes look but she realizes that it's easier to pack all the dolls back in their boxes than to tear down layout. (Whew!)
Joe- [bday][bday] 22/23?
Cw-Thanks for the 'maters. Once again today we can cook them on the bricks on the patio. [sigh] The forecast for Friday is 99! The band has to play at a local festival beer garden on Friday night. It's in a huge circus tent. It'll be 150 degrees in there! Someone posted awile back about not much in my bio or a picture. You can go to the bands web site and find all that you need to know about me(probably way more than you want to know) It's at www.thefunniesband.com I'm the old longhair.
Mook- How do you put up letters with no opposable thumbs?
Well, going to work upstairs on THE ROCK before it gets too hot. Will stop back in for something cool for lunch. Stay [8D] Willy

Happy Birthday, Joe. It is always good to celebrate another year.

Okay, we plan forward on Rochelle. Cards are good, prefer Euchre myself. Karoake is fun. Willy, great ideas and yes, I will rely on your local assistance.

I still have to write Kalmbach about all this and will do that from work; on my lunch hour of course ;) Right now, I am running late for church, my job, and will keep Willy's stepdaughter in prayer.

We are going to have so much fun in Rochelle.
