Jay, Thanks for the "congrats." But did you mean 12 months instead of nine? I was getting a little concerned that maybe I should be "expecting" something more than just fond memories of my recent trip to Iowa. [:D]

[8D] If I have permission from Ms. Mookie and CW, I will officially volunteer to organize a day at Rochelle.

First, we need to name the event...like "Diner's Day at Rochelle." Please post suggestions for a vote.

Second, We will have to pick a tentative date. Do we want to meet during the Summer?
The Fall?

Email me your ideas for a Name for the day, as well as date preferences, then I will post the results and we can all vote. From there I will contact local motels, hotels, etc., spare pickup truck beds, for rates, etc. I will then get that to you all as well. I will communicate most of this information via email.

Please contact me at mbstandby@yahoo.com for your input, questions and RSVP that you are interested. We will take the actual, "I CAN GO! I CAN GO!" later.

I know that TRAINS has a day at Rochelle every Fall. We could go at the same time and meet some TRAIN staff. Or we can just make it a "DINER DAY" and go for that.

Now about that tower I saw in Kansas. That was at Emporia? It was cool. I haven't seen a tower before, even though I worked EMS in FORT WORTH!!!!!! and HOUSTON!!! Or maybe I just wasn't as interested in them before. When you have just moved over 200 boxes of books, all on trains, western US History, mining, grain and more trains, you find yourself through osmosis learning more than you ever knew even existed.

I look forward to hearing from you. Tina

Uh, I'm going to be thirsty. Any fruit drinks available?

Hi all

Just about ready to go out on the boat, have a few brews and a picnic supper. Weather in Georgia is super, sun, in the 80's but lower than usual humidy. Stop at an intersesting spot on the south side of the Smoky's last night. Diner, nice place to stay and left a few bob behind in some fancy machines run by the area Native Americans. (CW relatives, I believe.) Found out that three in a row are very rare.

Congrats on the 5th and 47th for Tina and Mark. May your next nine months go as fast as mine will.

Breakfast brunch today will be all the regular breakfast menu items.

I have fixed plenty of sandwiches for everyone's lunches today. I'm
a little bit under the weather.

Also think we'll make it pizza night tonight for supper. After Matt's
birthday party, everyone probably won't be too hungry, anyway.
Matt, enjoy your party today.

Hi y'all!

Back from Iowa. I love the wide open spaces, especially before the corn gets too high. There's a tower in Emporia? Kansas? Is this right. I saw this on the way home. I could live in the Flint Hills with no problems! Of course a house would help. (CW, had a great time and it was really hard to say "goodbye" again.

[bday] So, Happy Birthday to the Matt and Sarah. I am late, but the best of wishes I still extend.

My husband celebrated his birthday yesterday which is also our anniversary; 47 and 5 years, respectively.

Our we going to have a "The Diners Watch Trains Day" at Rochelle anytime soon?

Joe, I knew I was forgetting something on the menu: the hushpuppies!!
And I thinks bowls of fresh strawberries makes a very good dessert. Thanks
for the strawberries suggestion.

That doesn't sound bad at all Joe,but I imagine we need to put on
some extra fries tonight, especially for Matt.
The mac & cheese sounds good also.
Has anybody gotten that keg of "Vernor's" out of the stock room yet,
and hooked it up ? I was noticing the "ginger ale" was running low.

How about a fish fry for tonight? If no one has any fish in their freezer that
they've caught by going fishing, I'll just fry some fresh fish from the market.
We'll have some fries and cole slaw with the fish, and some mac & cheese.

Sis, you could use the train to come here (at least until October). We're having he nice weather outside here (it's pretty raw and brutal, with lots of smoke inside--printer just went down and nearly took the computer with it!).

Decided to sleep in a little bit this morning, so I'll fix brunch today.

The menu will be: country fried steak sandwiches, sausage, biscuits & gravy,
and whatever else you want from the regular breakfast & lunch menus.

This weather is great: Absolutely love it when the humidity is way down.
Mookie, want to come for a visit here? Then, you'll be out of the 3 h's.
CW - thank you for the offer. As in most places I want to visit, by the time I get there, I will be too old to get out of the car!

I'll take you up on some of that cobbler, Cher--any or all flavors! After a pleasantly cool bike ride home, having it warmed up ought to be just perfect!
