.......Those are very interesting and different photos.  You must really be a serious railfan to be out in that stuff.  Like the photo with the row of street lights....That really looks like cold and serious winter conditions.  The rendition of the glowing signals is great too....

Good afternoon, folks.  Well, Produce went well this morning:  97 people, and no one disorderly!  They even stayed quiet, to listen for their names to be called.  On the truck today:  pints of chocolate milk, 10# bags of potatoes, bags of salad mix, lettuce, and broccoli.

Dan, those are great pictures you got in your serious snow fall last night!!

I have our regular Tuesday Mexican Fiesta ready and on the warmer bar.  All the tacos, burritos, spanish rice, quesadillas, enchiladas, etc., and, believe it or not, there's still penty of Mookie's chocolate birthday cake left for dessert.

Think I'm going to go take a nap, then make a trip to the Post Office to mail Christmas cards.   You all have a great afternoon, and I'll try not to get too wet, when I make my outing.  It was pouring a little while ago.  When I came back to the house after Produce, it was only raining a little bit.  But it picked up and poured in a hurry.

Thanks Q.  It was interesting.  The roads were worse this morning than they were yesterday.  Trains were moving again today but I was always just out of position for any kind of "decent" shot.  It's like that sometimes!

Dan - I have been cold all day long and your pictures didn't warm me a bit.  I know Willy wants snow, but I hope it stays in Omaha - all winter long!

Good evening everyone.

May I make a suggestion that we make some "warm and comforting" now that we're pretty much in winter at least every day? I was going to suggest beef stew, chili or a thicker hot soup as a daily dish at least until late winter. Dinner

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Dan, really liked your pictures.  Warmed me up, that's for sure!

Mookie, got the coffee made, and here's your coffee mug, filled and ready for you!  What would you like for breakfast?  On the warmer bar, I've got:  bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, biscuits & gravy, hash browns, bagels, bear claws and some fruit (apples, oranges, bananas and pineapple.  There's also fresh juice made, and cooling in the fridge, hot cider, hot chocolate, and hot water for tea.

I have been invited to go to a Christmas Lunch for ex KMart employees today; not sure if I will go or not.  It's at Golden Corral, but I'd have to cross a street, very heavy with traffic at the time we would be finishing up, and leaving.  Think I'd be better off staying home, where it's warm and dry.

Does anyone have any requests for our lunch and or supper menu for today?

Almost all of the snow here is gone - washed away by the rain.  This morning it's all tending to freeze in preparation for a changeover to snow.  That'll mean the snow is on top of a layer of ice, which is always fun.

I like Joe's suggestions.

For now, it's tea and a bearclaw.

Joe and Larry, I read you loud and clear.  Today's menu:

1.  Chili (mild) is in the  Large Crock Pot.  Hot sauce, hot picante sauce, and green chili sauce bottles are on the counter, for you to spice up your individual bowl of chili.

2.  Beans w/ham and cornbread (there's also several bottles of Bean-O on the counter for anyone who wants to swallow two or three before you start eating the beans.)

I decided to forego the outing today.  Called my friend, and found out she's not going, either, since her great grandkids gave her a cold and sore throat, and a couple of the other ones I worked with, aren't able to go either.  So maybe I won't be missing too much, by staying home, where I'm warm and dry.

You all enjoy your meal, and take care!

Got back from my quick trip to Maryland yesterday.  In spite of cold and some snow in the DC/Baltimore area-guess what-Amtrak and Metra ran on time.  Then it was twice as long as usual for the trip from the Metra station home as there were flurries amounting to about 4 inches.  Shortly after I got home a young man from town who did some snow removal for me last year showed up shovel in hand.  Turned out he had cleared the drive from the snowfall while I was gone and I promptly put him to work on the new snow.  I don't think his employment situation is good so I am always quite willing to put him to work when we can't get at it ourselves.  With a ton of stuff on my platter and Matt still at school, he was a godsend.  Paid him the usual fee for both days plus a little bonus.

It was unusually cold in the DC area and even an inch of snow which wasn't gone when I left Monday.  If the weather there was trying to make me homesick for Wisconsin, it didn't work.  My wife remains in Maryland looking after Mia and Ian, while mom Melissa stays in the hospital with new baby Ava.  I guess she wasn't interested in meeting Grandpa Jay as she didn't arrive until after I left.  Fine with me as it gives me good reason to take another train trip to DC  Anyway she and mom are doing very well and will check out to go home tomorrow.  Ava is grandchild number 6 for our group.

Everybody stay warm, dry and safe.

Congrats Jay!  Babies are always the nicest thing, especially around the holidays.

Heard from Houston - sounds like snow is in the area.  Their temp and humidity mirrors ours - low and high.  We are within 2 degrees of each other - but they have the wind and we don't.  Is there no place to get toasty anymore (without the humidity)?

Mooxie, it is 71 here and drizzle! The temp is most unusual, but I won't complain. If you wish, I will fix you and driver a pallet to sleep on if you bring the eats. I remember that one Christmas eve a few years ago, I had to cut the grass that day, so you never know about the weather here.

Jay, congrats on #6. Always glad to hear such good news.

Back to cold here - 16.5 as I write this.

"Polar Express" story  - If  you're familiar with the story, you'll appreciate this.

It seems a family rode one of our trains last year.  After the train ride they ate dinner at a local restaurant before heading home.  On the way home, Junior couldn't find his bell (each child gets a bell from Santa) and was heartbroken.

Rewind to the restaurant.  Dad spotted the bell on the table before they left and stowed it in his pocket.

Fast forward to Christmas.  Junior finds bell hanging on tree with note from Santa telling him to take better care of his bell.

Jay, congrats on the new addition to the family!  Bet you can't wait to get back there, and start 'spoiling' the newest grandchild!!

Larry, that's a very good story you related.  Puts me in the mood to watch "Polar Express" again!!

If anyone is interested, there's more chili and beans & cornbread out on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good evening, stay dry, warm and safe.

Congrats Granpa-Jay!

CW/Larry that is one of those easy/fun life stories they'll remember for a while!

It's a chilly 13 here...and more white stuff forecast for the night.  Only 1"-3" though so it's not that bad.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Not too bad here this morning.  It seems the really bad stuff went east and south of us.  Our current temp is in the low 30s to 35, depending on the area you live.  Our predicted high today:  40.  So the temp's not going to climb very much.  Although, with the wind chill, it feels like it's in the low to mid 20s outside this morning.

I wonder, this morning, if Houston Ed has thawed out yet.  I do not envy him;  the longer we go without seeing that white stuff, the happier I'll be.

Coffee, juices, hot cider, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are all ready.  Mookie, I've gotten your coffee mug down for you, and and it's right here on the counter.

On the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, biscuits, gravy, bagels and bear claws.

You all have a good morning, keep warm and safe.

Good morning CW, and thanks for breakfast. 62 and drizzle again, headed for 73 and lightning. Hopefully, that will not materialize, since it was called for yesterday and last night, but didn't show. Houston Ed, try and stay out of that mess. It makes me shiver just looking at such stuff. Everybody stay warm

....A brisk mid 20's temp this morning, and light overcast skies.  Right now the brighness is shining in my office east window and wouldn't take much to see the sun soon...That's a good thing.  No snow...ground is bare.

But what a surprise to see on the news a while ago of Houston Ed's weather down there...That should stiffen up the alligators a bit.  And seeing the weather radar and a massive weather system streaming from Texas northeast and covering all of the southeast was awesome.  Looks like our area is north of it's progress and maybe we can stay clear of it.

Stay warm all....

Edit:  Just a few min. later...Sun is peeking thru now...Love it.

We have gloomy, cloudy skies, with no kind of precip, no sunshine.

For lunch and supper, you have a couple of choices:

1.  Leftover chili from last night and:

2.  Beef & broccoli stir fry, w/fresh broccoli florets.  And, if you'd like, I'll serve it with cooked rice.

I want to say Congrats to Jay for his new addition to the family!!! Big Smile God Bless!!!

CW I'll take a plate of the broccoli florets and can I have some Apple citer if it's avalible? If not I'll have some Sprite.

Well as CW said the weather here in Louisville is kind of crappy. It is about 35 degrees and it is very cold. I'm actually wanting it to snow. I love the snow. Who knows I might just go snowboarding this year. Big Smile

Not really doing all that much sitting at the firehouse on standy by, just waiting around for a fire run. After that I'll more than likely end up going home.... then get ready to go to my Ju jitsu class.
