Yes, welcome back, Mutt!!

Lunch is on the warmer bar:  leftover fried chicken and mashed taters, etc., from Sunday Dinner, along with some open-face roast  beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, creamed corn, broccoli and cole slaw.  Desserts:  chocolate cake, chocolate pie, and lemon meringue pie.

For supper tonight, I've got a pot of vegetable beef soup on, and think we'll have grilled cheese sandwiches with the soup tonight.

Mook, is this soon enough?!

When they say that you have a 48 hour virus, they neglect to tell you that it takes at

least that much time to just start feeling better after it's run it's course, let alone that

much more time to even get back to feeling the way you were before it struck.

Last week was not one of my better ones. (even cut into my train watching!!)

We're to get to about 62 today with a chance of rain, gradually cooling for the rest

of the week, with a chance of snow showers on T-Day.

I'm surprised CW didn't offer to take on that Elf job, she is about the right height.

Good morning everyone. (Grabs big mug of hot coffee and a few danishes)

It's supposed to be cold tonight with a low of 37 degrees F. Shock [:O] I'm glad central heat in my place works well and I have a hot water air pot for plentiful hot water for hot drinks! Smile [:)]

I'll be here for the early Thanksgiving dinner, though.

By the way, this NFL season is threatening to be uncompetitive. What the Patriots did to the Bills last night reminds me of a Top 10 college football team running up the score against a direction school early in the college football season.

I'll most likely be up in Minnesota (weather permitting) to visit the folks and gather there with my four other siblings and their families.  On Friday, we're planning on making the obligatory trip to the Mall Of America (along with umpteen thousand other insane people- yes, my wife and DIL are crazy).  Maybe I'll escape and ride the Minneapolis Light Rail for a while.  If I have free time, though, I'll be lurking via Mom's computer!

From the land of the weird!  72-75 degrees today and snow by Thanksgiving!

Good morning all - Haven't had time to read all past postings, so will do that later this morning.  Meanwhile, must do 5 days work in 3 days

Tree - we have a real live elf here in residence.  We do a Xmas children's party and we have a slight built strawberry blonde (male) that wears elf ears and the whole costume.  He is a little tall for an elf, but otherwise looks exactly the part!  I will be glad to send him parcel post to you.  He needs a vacation anyway and he will do your graphic arts while he is there.  Send back after New Years.

Found my beagle and off we go..... (Mutt are you coming back very soon?)

Good Monday morning!  Quentin, Walt is feeling somewhat better.  Maybe he'll try to make an appearance later (right now, he's still sleeping).  Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Coffee, juices, tea and hot chocolate are ready.  All the normal breakfast items are on the warmer bar, so come one, come all!

Going to need a head count for Thursday.  Know Mookie won't be here, and wondering whom else will be missing.  I'm going to be cooking all week, so hope it's not going to be totally for nothing!  Hoping to have everything done, so I can watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning!  Always enjoy seeing the jolly old elf appear!!

Cool!  I saw Rusty at the luncheon Saturday.

I rode in the old girl a couple of years ago, but she's been working at Lake Placid, which is a longer ride for me than Thendara.

My gosh I think I gained 20 pounds reading all that...no brussel sprouts for me though. I can't stand them lol

It's cold here, it's been a long time since I was cold and I forgot how it felt. Now I want to be warm again, in 80 degree heat.  ugh, I wonder really how I am going to be once I go back to Flagstaff. I plan on purchasing a camcorder for that trip, and I will get some videos on YouTube for everyone. Hopefully

Good Sunday morning!  Nice and cool here this morning, with a temp in the mid 40s.   Glad everyone enjoyed the pizzas, calzones last night.  Doesn't look like too many helped themselves to the popcorn.  I must have filled you all up with the pizzas, because it doesn't look like any are left this morning.

Coffee just finished brewing, and I've got fresh juices made for this morning.  Other beverages available this morning:  hot tea and hot chocolate.

On the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, country fried ham w/ red-eye gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, blueberry muffins, pancakes, waffles and plenty of maple syrup.  Everything will be on the warmer bar until 11:30, when I'll start replacing it with Sunday Dinner.

Sunday Dinner today will consist of:  Fried chicken, mashed taters w/milk gravy, green beans, creamed corn, homemade buttermilk biscuits, fried pork chops, country-fried steak w/portabello mushrooms, and if anyone isn't in the mood for green beans, there will also be  broccoli and brussels sprouts.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, strawberry cheesecake, and cherry cheesecake, and yellow cake w/caramel icing.  Saving pumpkin cake and pumpkin pies for Thursday.

Everyone have a great morning, be careful going to and coming home from Church, or wherever you'll be this morning.  Sunday Dinner will be on the warmer bar approx. 1 p.m., EST.

Larry, hope you're able to get some rest tonight!!  Here's a couple of slices of Hawaiian pizza for you.  And congrats for the ticket sellout!!  I know you all are very happy about that (even it if means more work for everyone!)

And, here's the total list of pizzas, etc., on our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST:

1.  Cheese
2.  Anchovie
3.  Goetta
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
6.  Supreme
7.  Calzones
And instead of dessert tonight, I'll pop a couple of huge bowls of popcorn around 8:30, 9:00 EST

Pizza sounds good, but I'm still pretty stuffed from our volunteer luncheon.  The two hour + drive into the Adirondacks took me into snow country, several inches worth.  Roads were clear, though.  Now I'm pooped - 5 hours on the road can be pretty fatiguing.

I did manage to garner a volunteer recognition award and a door prize... Blush [:I]

All of our Polar Express trains are SOLD OUT.  In fact, due to a bit of a glitch, we may have to add another car to a couple of the runs, as they managed to oversell them.  Over 8,000 riders have tickets!  We're impressed.  Anybody want to be an elf?  We need some!

Thanks for the background info, MC.  I knew that I was actually in Kentucky, but I didn't know anything about the history.  I didn't get to see much while arriving or departing from there, either- those CanadAir jets have such puny, low-on-the-wall windows...

Sounds like the only thing Brian may have seen at CVG / Greater Cincinnati Airport that was from CUT were the monster wall tile mosaics in the terminal that were originally from the platform concourses at CUT.

Brian: The CVG on your airport ticket stub and airline itinerary stands for Covington, Ky. Until the late 1940's, everbody in Cincinnati flew out of Lunken Field on the Ohio side of the river. What is now CVG was built as a WWII Army Airfield in 1942. Part of the reason why Lunken could not expand to handle bigger aircraft was its location in a river valley (flooding and hills) and Pennsylvannia Railroad's Undercliff Yard (hump yard) at one end of the two runways. American airlines started at Lunken Field in 1925 as Embry-Riddle Flying Service. In 1930, Lunken was the largest municipal airfield in the country.

http://www.cincyrails.com/ioryphotos/crYSSH15LinwoodOH12-30-93JELandrumPhoto.jpg

Conrail ripped out Undercliff in 1982 after moving all the operations to old NYC Sharonville Yard. (What's left is a 5 track siding known as "Cliff") What was Cincinnati's first railroad running by Cincinnati's first commercial airport is now a stub ended branch (Oasis Sub.) of RailAmerica's Indiana & Ohio RR

Not sure what CUT is- Cincinnati Union Terminal?  During my 5-hour stay, the only terminal I got to see was the inside of Terminal C at the airport, thanks to a mechanical issue with the Com Air plane we were supposed to be taking to Huntsville, which ended up being stuck at Dayton while we got a different plane and crew.

Cincy, eh?  Spent a good five hours there at the airport on Tuesday, and another two yesterday...

Thought I'd share a couple of cell phone shots of the Huntsville Intermodal Terminal, which is just east of their airport.  I got these shots as my travel partner and I drove back around to the airport after a quick stop at Boeing on the south side yesterday morning.

Forgot to mention that yesterday, our illustrious owner, JHH, called to check on us.  He had heard that some severe weather had struck the KY. area, and he wanted to make sure we were safe.  He is doing all right, and was calling from work.  Sounded like they were very, very busy in the background.  He was kept busy, handing out parts, etc., that people were coming in to get.
