Well according to my yardstick we got about 10" of snow yesterday, plus a bit of blowing. Have I mentioned that I'm glad I bought a snowblower yet? Cuz I AM! Supposed to get 6-10" on Sunday now apparently. Could make for an interesting drive home from the Madison Train Show.
Joe did you see my note on the previous page re: HCLX 6600? A friend confirmed for me last night that it's still on CSX rails, possibly in Ohio.
Mookie,Chace (my cat) has been begging, nay pleading, to have me let him outside...AGAIN. So last night I obliged him by putting him outside when the dogs went out. For some reason...don't know why...there was a grey/black colored streak going from the backyard to the back door. The only evidence that it was him was the claw marks left in the snow. Hopefully that cured his 'outside' curiosity for a while longer.

....A passive Winter morning here in central Indiana. Temps. around the freezing mark and it's very bright with the sun breaking through at times. Still have an inch of the white stuff on the ground from several days ago. Roads are clear except it's packed on the street in our addition and others of course. But no problem at all.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are ready and waitin' for you, and fresh oj, oj/tangerine, grape juice are also ready this morning. On the counter this morning: fresh doughnuts, danish, muffins, bagels, and bear claws, and on the warmer bar: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy and tater tots.
Our current temp is in the low 40s, and will drop a little bit down into the 30s this afternoon. You all take care this morning, and I'll see you back in here for lunch.

those oakway leasers are floating around on csx up here again.the last one I saw was taking empty hopper cars for more phosphate from florida.Matt and I did get out this afternoon and saw some trains.The last train q390 had 4 up engines for power and alot of loaded lumber cars.Cw thanks as always for supper.

Tom - Just noticed your reference to your pup climbing the fence. While my Sheltie mix was very capable of clearing the 3' fence when she was younger (and before her accident), she was invited to try it by me twice - and both times she failed, falling unceremoniously to the ground. She apparently decided she wasn't going to be able to clear it, and never tried it on her own after that.
Later escapes were via a gate that didn't close tightly (remedied when I found out). On those instances, she'd seen me walk away from the house up the road and wanted to follow me - I had reports of her being at all of the places I usually take her for walks. The problem was that on those days I was walking up to the fire station where I picked up the ambulance I'd brought home overnight, and took it back to the squad building. Then I'd go straight to work. She was always safely home when I got home from work, so I didn't notice her forays until others told me of them.
All the way up to 25 right now - from below zero over night...

...Compared to folks in the northern tier seems we're faring as well as any....Started the day with 18.9 degrees and it's now well into the 20's and heading much higher for today. Sunshine is pouring into my eastern window here with ever increasing power this morning. Calm too. Have gained an hour of daylight in the evening now from the low point in early December.
Yesterday while having a bit of lunch at our Family Restaurant, Bruner's.....witnessed a CSX east bound passing and it contained 3 different engines at the head end and the lead engine {an older one}, had big lettering on it's side: "Electromotive".....Now what would that have been, an old demonstrator....? Saw no railroad icon or signage on it at all. The basic paint on it was gray.

Larry, thanks for the reminder to "take it all". I was given enough Biaxin to last a week, at two tablets per day, and I already know that if I stop taking this antibiotic prematurely, there is a good chance that the bronchitus will come back with a vengeance and will be much harder to treat. This medication cost me plenty, so I will make sure I make use of all of it!

Can't speak to the specific antibiotic, but I'd be remiss if I didn't remind you to take it all. Too many people quit taking such medications when they start feeling better, which just makes it harder to kill the germ next time.
Good morning everyone. And for what it's worth, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY. We've got 12 degrees here in Sioux Falls this morning and our wind chill is at -6 below 0. We had a little bit of freezing rain here earlier this morning.
I popped the antibiotic my doctor gave me at 7:00 last night and went to bed........and slept pretty close to 12 hours. I reckon I was overdue for a good night's rest. I was tested for the flu in my doctor's office yesterday afternoon and the test came back negative, so the doc informed me that I have a case of bronchitus. I am now taking the generic form of Biaxin. Has anyone else been given the same drug before for stuff like this??
CW, pancakes, pork sausage links and bacon sound pretty good to me. I'm starving!

Criminy! Who turned the heat down? Six inches of snow yesterday. Got that cleaned out of the driveway so I could head for work, then discovered work delayed opening two hours (as did a number of schools). Killing time, I went out to feed the birds and discovered that it was raining. Temperatures stayed above freezing much of the day, then headed back down to below zero overnight last night. Everything is frozen in place.

....It's good railroad bridges are made out of great strong material as this kind of incident seems to happen so much.
It should be a priority for railroads and State and County highway departments to get rid of such low clearance underpasses. Of course money is always the obstacle. Come to an agreement as to who bears responsibility to renovate the clearance and get it done.
My opinion of these situations: Figure out a way to finance a program to bring the clearance up to today's requirements. We can't afford war either, but we still do it.....
Of course drivers have a responsibility while they are in the drivers seat too.
