Well, lunch is on the warmer bar:  for the Mookster's birthday, I've made meat loaf w/smashed taters & gravy, green peas, creamed corn, and cornbread.  For dessert:  chocolate birthday cake and ice cream.

We'll have our FRIDAY FISH FRY for supper tonight, along with the leftovers from lunch.

MOOKIE:  Hope your birthday, so far, is going well!!Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday]

Good morning Americans, it's Friday! 36 degrees in Carolina, up from 31.... I would like a LITTLE bit of snow, maybe enough to cover the grass. That is a rare commodity in this part of the world. Likely, it would shut down the whole state, though! Mook, I can't push that rocker for a while. My shoulder has been paining me a right smart and I have an appt with a surgeon come Tuesday to be checked out. My shoulder has a rod and 13 screws and I am afraid something has shifted or backed out. CW, can you round up some buttermilk pancakes? Thanks

Tom

Good Friday morning to all!  And. . .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOOKIE!! Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday]

Hope you're not too tired, after everything yesterday, with the snow!  Glad you got your birthday card on time!!

Regular breakfast items are on the warmer bar, along with some doughnuts, danish, and blueberry muffins. And, of course, hot coffee, hot chocolate, and hot tea!

Sorry Ed, but remember there is a time zone difference between us. We're EST, and

you all are CST.

Happy, Happy Mook; there's a Beagle on your plate with a candle on it, and a very

large cup of coffee. (this one didn't run away!)

(very surprised that the smoke detectors didn't wake every one else up when they

went off from the smoke from the candles; ours sure did when they lit the candles

on my B-day cake!)

Ah - thank you all for the wishes.

No celebrations - we are both too tired from the week and trying to just get into the driveway after all the snow yesterday.  Landlord was busy with other properties and didn't get to ours until after the Driver had done most of the property with our sno-blower.

I help out by sweeping the porch and then going from the front door to the back door and back again watching to make sure he doesn't get hurt or fall.

I'm done with winter now - it can go back to spring temps.

Grampaw - I got the rockers ready but you have to push your own.  I am not re-tired yet, just tired.  Joe will help when he comes in.

Joe/CW/Mutt/Sarah - got my cards!  Thank you!

Possibly no trains this weekend - 17 for the high on Sat and (shudder) more snow Sat nite.  Millie is the only thing that doesn't seem to mind the winter.

Must rest.  I feel old age advancing!

Man oh man, I'm already tired of all the cold!  I know I'm not the only one, but it feels good just to get it off my chest.  Willy, could you check your weather machine, and possibly send some 45 degree temps w/sunshine our way?  Would really appreciate it.

Along with leftover chili from last night, you also have Italian spaghetti w/garlic Texas toast, garden salad, and breadsticks are on each table, booth, and the counter.  With regular assortment of desserts in the cooler (cakes are on the counter, though).

You all have a good, warm afternoon, and I'll drop back in later on.

Sorry for all that tragedy out in Omaha.

When CW first posted this morning around 5:30 EST, our temp was about 25 degrees

and no noticeable wind.  When I posted, the temp had dropped several degrees.  We

had clear skies last night; but during the day yesterday, it was strictly cloudy and

overcast.   Our temps did slowly drop during the late afternoon yesterday.  Early

yesterday afternoon, our temps were in the high forties.  Within about an hour or two,

it dropped into the low 30s.  (Very strong winds.)

Mookie!!  Two beagles?!?!  Now, I've to get an extra leash?!

Yeah, and I was out in that wind!!  Had to go to the library and return some books; when I came out of the library, that wind about blew me to the northwest!  (Wonder where I would have ended up?  Iowa, Nebraska, or somewhere else, Little Rock, maybe, to see our Diner owner?!?!Wink [;)]Evil [}:)]  Then, I stopped at the grocery, and picked up the fixings to make chili, here at home tomorrow.

Got more chili out on the warmer bar; even made another two pots:  medium and spice hot.  Figure maybe some of us could stand the heat from the hot chili to warm up!!

Joe, I've got a couple of containers ready for you, for work tonight.  One medium, and one hot.    Take your pick, whichever one you want.

Taking a short break from addressing Christmas cards.  Will probably have them ready to go out in tomorrow's mail.

You all take care, I'll see ya later!

puff, puff - been outside sticking my tongue out for the snow flakes.  Hard way to get a drink of water!

Sounds really messy on the streets, but will be done by early afternoon.  Ack....

Guess after that mess in Omaha, the quiet true midwest has lost some more of it's innocence.  I have some rants and raves about this whole situation, but won't change a thing and I don't need the exercise of my vocal chords.

However, this weather will definitely cut down on train watching and I can and will yell about that!  Maybe two beagles - put one on each ear...... O^~^O

As CW said, it didn't get quite as cold overnight as predicted. But the temp. has

dropped several degrees since her posting. It's now about 21-22, cooler than

Souix Falls! We actually dodged the bullet by not getting any of the snow that was

predicted, but that d#*n S#*w word is still lingering in the forecasts!!

Ray, we have about 30 cards to go out, mainly for close friends, family and

and Forum members; you're correct about cost of postage limiting how many we send.

Mook, where are you?!  Beagle is ready with cream cheese, and very large cup of coffee.
