That must be a fun job for ya Larry.

CW we got 8" of wet slushy snow and now are getting some ice.  I pulled a van out of the ditch this morning after dropping the fiancee off at work.  The driver had high-centered her minivan on the snowpile in her driveway.  I didn't think her 2 toddlers could get her out.  I guess that's my 'Good Deed' for the day.  Time to stay home and edit pics.

Willy - My thoughts are with you as well.  It's never easy losing a loved one, and this time of year is even tougher.

Warm is the word of the day here - as in keeping....  Colder than the dickens, snowing, and windy.  Hope the kids have on their really warm jammies tonight - they'll need them.  A
couple of the crew members just stopped by (I'm in the hotel lobby) to advise me that it's just getting worse....

Set a record for riders last night on the Express, due in part to three full-car charters and a minor reservation snafu.  We got through, and everyone was  happy.

Don't know how long it will be available, but there is a video entitled "Polar Express departs Utica on this newspaper webpage.  Yep.  That's me with the kero lantern.

The stack train is westbound on CSX's Chicago Line.

Good morning everyone. (grabs big mug of hot coffee and a couple of rolls)

By the way, you might want to consider serving a hot toddy to anyone involved in the college football Bowl Championship Series voting. After last night, WHO knows the participants in the championship game. Shock [:O]

Good Sunday morning, to one and all!  We are at a balmy 58 degrees this morning, with very light rain outside.  Temps already gone up 1 degree, in the half hour I have been awake and up.  Looking for a high of 67.  Then a biiiiig drop in temperatures overnight.  The meterologists are now saying, that Tuesday, we may see some snow, with light accumulation.  Can anyone say, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas?"

Joe, thanks for making the juice, coffee and hot chocolate!  Can't decide which I want this morning:  maybe a I'll a cup of coffee, along with a cup of hot chocolate, along with a couple of rolls for breakfast.

Saw the reports on the news last evening, of the snow in Denver, and the snow and ice in the Midwest.  Hope all our forum friends in those areas are safe and sound this morning! Everyone have a great day, stay warm, and take care of yourselves.  Be back later.

Thank you all for the prayers. They mean a lot to us!

I was especially worried about how my grandma would take this, but she is pulling through so far. I pray that she will have the strength to make it through these next several days without too much pain.

We got the ice today. I measured a third of an inch of ice accumulation, but there weren't many tree branches or powerlines down which was nice. There's another chance of precip around Thursday, so hopefully that one will be in the form of snow rather than freezing rain.

Everyone take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Thanks Joe. I will surely be looking forward to it. Saw on the radar down here in Ky a great big area of white up there in Northern OH. They calling for temps to rise overnight, rain tomorrow, possibly ending with snow showers on Monday.

Willy, you are in our prayers. Know how hard it is to lose those very special people.

Willy, my sincerest condolences to you and your family.  The only grandparent I ever really knew was my Mama's Dad.  He's been gone since the mid 60s, and I miss him still.  Do have many wonderful memories of him, though.  And, I know you'll always carry your memories of your Grandpa forever.  Take care!

Hello Everyone -

I was wondering if you folks could say some prayers for my family over the next few days. My grandpa passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in the middle of the night last night. There were not any indications that he was ill, but I guess God was ready for him to enter His kingdom.

Your prayers for my family and for Grandpa would be much appreciated. This is a very difficult time for us.

Thank you and God bless.

Good Saturday morning, all!  Feeling a little bit better this morning.  Joe, thanks for making the coffee and orange juice, and for fixing breakfast.  Sounds really good this morning!

As for a card for a cat,  if you can't find one with a loco on the front, maybe a cute little kittie will do!  (We need to find a card also.)

Joe, our weather is to turn tomorrow.  Predicting mostly rain, possibly some thunder showers, and could turn to snow.  They're not too sure right now, about the latter, just yet.  Currently, we're at 31, 32 degrees, looking for a high of 50, with clouds around all day.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see what we end up with.

You all have a good day today, no matter what you do, or where you go, and, as Joe says,  STAY SAFE!

Quentin; thank you for the warm words . This has been in the works since Aug. We made those 3 trips to the Dakotas'. The last trip I learned of my 30 yr. buddys' death . Flatwheel was at a rest stop outside of Fon du Lac . His wife Brenda  e mailed us on the laptop. She took him home to Enid  Okl. Brenda asked Shirl if I would bring his truck home,it was at the rest stop.  Shirley took Rattler to Enid to wait for me. 6 days later I got to Enid . So much frustration with MVD & DOT .about his truck ,who would take charge and pay towing fee 350.00 us dollars.  But it is for a friend. Iam at a loss for words . Guess its' time to travel a new way.  Respectfully , Cannonball

We are in for a significant ice storm here tomorrow. NWS just issued an ice storm warning. It looks like ice accumulations up to or possibly even a bit over half an inch could occur. Couple that with winds gusting to 40 mph and we are probably going to have power outages, etc.

I would much rather have snow than freezing rain, but we haven't had an ice storm here in Omaha for a long time, so I guess we're due for one.

It looks like a lot of other people are going to get some sort of wintry weather out of this storm system as well, so hopefully will stay safe this weekend.

CW - you should start the series with Hawke, then Assassin and Pirate.  Now reading Spy (2006).  It is a series

He is a Tom Clancy type, but a whole lot easier to read.

Mookie:  we have "The Collectors", along with several in his "Camel Club" series, and one or two other of his books.  They are all very good!!  He's fast becoming one of my favorite authors.  What is the title of Ted Bell's book you're reading?  Might have to check it out!

Our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now under way.  On the warmer bar, you will find COD, PERCH AND BASS fillets, along with corn on the cob, fries and hushpuppies.  Cole slaw and garden salads are in the cooler.  Need to replenish my supply of different fish, before next Friday.

Need to go take a dose of pain medicine.  Really aching and sore today.  Be back later on.

CB & S....I certainly don't know much about you folks and the career of over the road trucking you have experienced, and it sounds like the retirement decision might have been a bit abrupt, but then maybe it was long in the planning.  Just what I see on here is what I must comment from...

It sure sounds like good judgement when one thinks it's "time" to go  and then go on and do so....I had made my mind up to retire when we did but it took most of the year for me to go ahead and do so...Finally, the decision was made and that was 14 years ago.

So my best wishes to you both and hope you enjoy the next extension of the road ahead.

A cup of hot chocolate would taste pretty good to me right now. I've been up for two hours and the temperature here has dropped 2 degrees in the last hour or so. Currently we have a light dusting of snow on the ground here in Sioux Falls, and the temp is at 6 degrees above 0. It's not supposed to get above 25 degrees here this afternoon, and there is a winter storm watch in effect here from tomorrow morning through late tomorrow night. We could get anywhere between 4 and 6 inches of the cold, white stuff. There is also a possibility of some freezing rain here tomorrow. I reckon I better get my snow boots out of the basement and plan on wearing them to work tomorrow morning.

CONGRATUALATIONS TO CANNONBALL IN HIS RETIREMENT!!
