Snowed overnight.  Still snowing.  Snowblower doesn't want to run right.  Sheesh!

Time to head back out and see if I can get the carb set right.

Good New Year's Day, everyone!  Happy 2008 to one and all.  Joe, thanks for getting breakfast ready this morning, making the juice,  and everything!  Really appreciate it!!

Managed to stay awake until somewhere between 1:30 and 2:00 this morning.  That's very unusual for me.  Woke up about an hour ago.  We had a little bit of rain last night, along with the gusty winds.  Haven't heard any local weather reports this morning, so I'm not too sure what the current temp is.  Unless the forecast has changed, I think our temps are to slowly drop during the day.  And unless the complete forecast has changed, we just may end up with a dusting to one inch of snow.  Supposedly, we have snow showers that are to be coming in sometime today.  Who really knows, right?!?!

You all take care, and I'll see you in here later.  Got to figure out our NEW YEAR'S  DAY menu.  Anyone care to share with me the customs you've heard of, for a HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR?  (Like, put a shiny new penny in a pot of cabbage for wealth in the new year, and eating black eyed peas for good luck.)

....When I went to bed the temp was 40 degrees.....Now, at 8 this morning we have been treated with snow overnight and blustering wind and it's 24 degrees.  Looks like 1 or so inches.  Hard to tell with the wind.

Drive way is about bare and that's unusual as it generally swirls around the house and lands right on it.....

But they say we're to warm up at the end of the week and this northern cold blast  moves on.  Believe it's to reach clear down into Florida.

I'm working on fixing Ed's birthday supper for tonight.  You all will have lots to choose from:

Cheesy quesadillas, beef & bean burrtios, beef burritos, tacos, enchiladas, fresh tomato salsa, con queso, cheesy beef nachos, ultimate 7-layer dip, chipotle tomato soup, gazpacho w/shrimp, make ahead Mexican salad, fafitas, south of the border snapper, black bean & rice tostadas and Spanish rice.

DESSERTS:

frozen Cinco De Mayo dessert and creamy mango dessert (along with the (in the Diner) pre-requisite chocolate cake, white cake w/white icing, and yellow cake w/caramel icing.

Ed, know you had to work today, and will work tomorrow, but hope you birthday is turning out to be a good one for you!!  Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

....A little over a week ago our gas price was "down" to 2.70 here then a nice big jump for the oil co's up to 3.09 or so...Guess they had a boat payment due.  And that was an overnight rise....Now, since yesterday I have seen the one location just below the 3 dollar mark.

Ed, your 73 sounds just fine.

So far, at 13:30, it has made it up to 73...the possums are confused!

I was going to send a card but couldn't find a pen....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  Happy Birthday, Ed!

About 4" of snow overnight (easily dispatched with the snowblower), but the promise of more to come tonight.  Should make life interesting for the partiers.

Interesting incident last night - guy decides to run from the cops, but they quit "chasing" him and just followed him without lights and sirens instead.  He still lost it on a curve and put his truck into the bushes.

Busy working on the computer last night when the screen suddenly went funky, so I went monitor shopping today.  Nice flat screen to look at now.  Gotta like it.  My late Christmas present to myself.

Now to get caught up on all that stuff I has planned to do instead of a trip to town to go shopping....

For lunch today, I've fixed the following:  the last of the turkey has been heated, with gravy, for open-face turkey sandwiches w/mashed taters and gravy; beef stew w/cornbread, and am preparing a very special Tex-Mex dinner tonight, in honor of Ed's birthday, along with some special desserts.  And, because you can't get too many birthday wishes:  Ed,

Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] [bday

depending on who you listen too we can get anywhere from 3-9 inches of snow tonight plus blowing and drifting.Defineately going to be a white new years.2 mookie engines were hauling coal empties west and the y101 shoved more cars into the MAW siding. They had to have a track guy come look at the derail because it kept giving the dispatcher a red eventhough the crew reset everything.another day at csx.
