Good morning everyone. (Grabs big mug of coffee with a plate of pancakes and sausages)

It's a cool 40 degrees F. as I type this--there is a thin cloud cover to prevent the temperatures from dropping to freezing. Smile [:)]

Good Monday (Christmas Eve) to all!!  Ray, I hope your friends are all right.  That is such a tragedy, any time of the year, but is really heart wrenching at Christmas time.

Coffee is ready, fresh juices made (orange, oj/tangerine, pineapple), hot chocolate, and there's plenty of hot water for tea.

On the warmer bar:  pancakes, waffles, sausages, scrambled eggs, muffins, and cinnamon rolls are waiting for you all.

For those of you traveling to spend Christmas with family, be careful, drive safely, and take care!  And the same wish goes out for anyone who has to do last minute Christmas shopping.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!

Ray;  a tradgedy on any day is awful , but at Xmas time it is even worse . An evening prayer is in order  for you and those folks .

Pork Chop Abracadabra tonight sounds pretty good to me, but right now I have no apetite. There was a house fire in the neighborhood where I work early this morning and one of my co-workers who lives a couple houses away from that scene was telling me about it this morning during our coffee break.

I had just been to the web site of our local news paper looking for information regarding this fire, and I learned two things; #1. one of the three occupants in that house died in the fire, along with all three of their pets. #2. The location of the home, which is now a total loss, is the home of an old friend of mine, David Dvorak. His brother Gerry is a long-time member of our local HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society.

I've thought about firing up my waffle iron and having waffles for dinner here at home tonight, but right now I don't feel like eating............and I am not likely to know who died in this house fire until at least tomorrow morning.

Larry, I've got my potatoes and eggs boiling for my potato salad, and the turkey's finally beginning to thaw!  I'm doing a little bit at a time, so I'm not totally in the kitchen all day tomorrow.   If I do most of the cooking tomorrow, then all we have to do is heat it up on Cristmas Day.

48 and raining off and on.  This is Christmas?

Task for the day - bathe the dogs.  They both need it.  Then bake up some dog treats.  They're all out.

Christmas dinner at my house will be served at whatever time I manage to finish it all up.

Good morning all. Well, it's a big event day. I get to ride 100 miles, look at my sister in law and listen to her  while she explains that dinner will be ready at 5 pm instead of the noon meal she promised. It's a yearly ritual and never varies.... 54 deg here in Carolina and expecting thunderstorms, so I have been disconnecting the wireless and trying to get ready for it. I hope we are back before that stuff gets here. I have been singing Christmas carols of late, and my wife told me I should be on the stage. "Really" I asked. "Yes", she replied, "but the stage don't run no more, so take the Amtrak." I am still studying on what kind of complement that was. Good day to all. Ta

Good Sunday morning, everyone!  Lance, thank you so much, for putting the coffee on, making the juice and hot chocolate; and Joe, thank you so much for fixing breakfast!  What would I do without you guys in here?

Woke up this morning about 4:15, to the howling wind.  We have wind gusts between 35 and 50 miles per hour, according to what I heard on the morning news.  This is following a thunderstorm around 11 p.m.  Scared the bejeebers out of me, because I wasn't expecting it!! We have a current temp of 46, and the temps will be going down the rest of the day.  And Lance, glad to see you back in here!

I'll be working here in the kitchen, preparing Sunday Dinner, and getting the turkey thawed, so I can get it in the oven in the morning.

You all have a great morning; Joe, know Matt will do well this morning!!  See you all around 1 p.m. EST

....Yes, Pizza was had here too today, but went about 2 mi. to eat it at the place of business.  Pizza King.  Temp here now 51 degrees and all snow melted.  Nothing but bare ground.  Probably a little fog out there this evening.

Wow, maybe I shouldn't have been so pleased to see all of you in here yesterday, since no one has been in this early  this morning.  Hopefully, some of you will start rolling in, for the SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.  On the menu tonight:

1.  Anchovie
2.  Cheese
3.  Goetta
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
6.  Supreme
And Calzones

You all enjoy your pizzas, and have a good evening.  Rain is supposed to show up around 9 tonight, so aparently, it's moving faster than they originally thought.  Go figure!!

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Cannonball, seeing a full house in here does the cook's heart good!!  Joe, thanks for getting the coffee, juice and hot chocolate ready this morning!  Really appreciate your's and everyone's helping out around here!

Currently, we are right around 50 degrees this morning, and going up to the mid 60s today.  Are we sure this is 3,4 days before Christmas?!?!  I'm not complaining.  I like the warmer temps.  But I know the kids would all like to see three, four inches of snow (and some other adults I know).

You all have a great day, running your errands, doing last minute shopping, chasing trains, etc.  Just be very careful out there, and come back in one piece!!  See you tonight for SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

Mutt;  we will slip in to the xmas. party. This party will be different from last yr.as we spent in a truck stop , cause of snow. We still miss the road. Do retired engineers feel the same??  Does their mind wander when the horn blast out a few notes??  I still wander when I hear the Goodyear chorus on the pike . Is there a cure for wanderlust??  CW thank you for supper tonite.  Hope it is at full capicity in the Diner. R.S.V.P.? HEE HEE Respectfully, Cannonball& Shirley

My apologies, SG:  the menu was turkey sandwiches, mashed taters, gravy, and different fresh veggies, and dips, chips, all the usual party spread.  I'd posted the menu yesterday, I think (might have been Wednesday).  Should have reposted it today.  Please forgive me.

For this evening, I've put out chips, dips and popcorn, along with hot chocolate, eggnog, and boiled custard.  Hmm, think I'll just pour myself a glass of custard!!

Well - things look pretty festive here, and lots of goodies to boot.

Finished up my grocery shopping (and cleaned out a lot of soda containers) today, put up with traffic in the 'big city,' and hopefully I'm in for the rest of the holiday.

Finally got MSTS, TRS2006, and Raildriver back on line, so I can get back to running trains.  I know more about how the real deal works than I did, so my train handling might just improve....

Looks like I missed La Mook, but for everyone else who happens in,

Merry Christmas!

May it be a safe and happy one, as you enjoy it with the ones you love.

Ray, Joe pretty well answered that for you. Gary Burbank is one one the Premier radio

D.J.s in the country. He's been in several different areas, (Detroit, Louisville, Cincy.,etc)

and just "Retired"(?) from WLW in Cincy today. We had him here in Louisville on WAKY in

the late 60s to mid 70s, and then on WHAS in the late 70s. In 1978 when we had 20+

inches of snow from one storm, (that's way much for us here!) he coined the phrase

about "Snow  Sharks"; that was what happened when your leg went into a deep drift;

(and you nor anybody else could see it) you had been "gotten" by a "Snow Shark"!

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

Hey, Mudchicken:  if you by chance can pull in WHAS 84 radio on your AM radio, there's an interview with "Earl Pitts" aka Gary Burbank at 4:40 EST this afternoon.  Think he'll really retire this time, or just take a vacation for awhile?!?!

Welllll, I survived the quack this morning, and feel much better with the thing gone. Of course, he had an emergency and was 3 hours late, but it was worth it. We had a nice rain here, and hopefully will get more. Currently, 48 degrees and sloppy. Looks like Rochelle may be getting socked in again according to the webcam. Ta
