I own a whopping stable of two. A GP-38 and an RS-1, both N Scale. With units starting at 60 or 70 bucks each, it will take a bit of time to increase that roster to 12 or 15.

Train shows are usually how I increase my locomotive roster. I'm gonna have to get a N scale locomotive soon, as I just sent out payment for 3 atlas boxcars...

I have 12 or so, all N-scale. Only 4 of which are painted (TFM or KCS), and only one of those is detailed, and should soon be "finished".

Not a single inch of layout though....yet.

I model in three scale, 1/20.3 F scale, 1/48 ON30 scale, and 1/87 HO scale and have over 25 steam locomotives in each scale and at least 10 electric in each scale. As of yet don't own a internal combustion locomotive but that will change when I recieve my ON30 side rod gas switcher from Bachmann.

I have to admit I have over 100 locos, possibly 150.As new [better] models come on the market,I buy them and semi-retire my older, less detailed, less smooth, less desirable diesels.I actually only run about 20 or so locos on my layout and they seem to be my favourites;but I can`t bring myself to part with the others.Sentimental attachment I suppose. Also, when I first started modelling, there weren`t many good Alco models available, now they`re the mainstay of the fleet.

Mine said the same but she only see's about half of them as the ones with decoders are on the layout whilst those in boxes are for the club (which includes a Genesis Santa Fe F7ABBBA!).

I own a dozen or so, but only four of them are equiped with DCC decoders. I will probably equip another six or so with decoders and then add a few additional units while retiring some of the stuff that's in the train room. I have a Santa Fe prototype, but lettered for CB&Q Bachman 4-8-4 which no longer runs well at all. It will never see a decoder, for example. My Spectrum K-4 Pacific, however, will likely get the DCC treatment.

I collect ALCO PAs and Baldwin Sharks in every railroad that ran them in every major color scheme they ever wore and I always buy them in AA or ABA sets if appropriate. While I have many models now (some are undecorated and I will need to paint them) I have many more to go. I also have a smattering of steam and other diesel locos. I believe my total is about 145 at this time.

To many!! I have at least 80, maybee as many as 100. I have been collecting trains for 40 yrs plus. Old habits die hard, but I have been interested in this hobby since I learned about it at about 5 yrs. old. The list includes a few brass, several craftsman kits, some "shake the box" kits, some "flea market refugees" and several of those wonderful new steam engines released in the last few years.

I currently own 51 locomotives ranging from 20 yr old British 00 and N to the latest on the market. I run acomplex N gauge layout that has both British and American sections with two time scales in each. i.e. fifties era steam and the latest modern era. Those lifelike 2-8-8-2s are really impressive.
