Morning diners,
Ray, thoughts and prayers.
Ulrich, the same, hopefully things will get better or an opportunity will present itself.
Top of page drinks are on me.

If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Happy times!

"You´re never too old for a happy childhood!"
I've been out of commission this week as I came down with the flu late Monday night.
First of all I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, Ray. My thoughts and best wishes to you and your family during this hard time.
Alrich it sounds like it's getting really bad over there. I was very hopeful it wouldn't. Thoughts and prayers going out to you and your family as well.
JaBear good to see you back, you were missed. It appears Ed's lure worked. I never knew Amtrak had a Bear Complex.
Afternoon diners,
Today is Pepperoni Pizza Day so I bought food for you guys. Before Steven O does.
Sorry about your sister, Ray.
Ulrich- Nice details on the DB Class E41.

Good morning from the pleasant but soon to be monsooned West Coast.
Well, I have mentioned I really increased my workout time over the last three weeks and have been feeling great. I did, however, tweak a muscle so took three days off, went out for a roast leg of lamb with a bottle of wine to console myself and then ate a huge pizza the next night. Whamo! an instant three pounds. That's 10,500 calories I need to now burn off. That's thirteen hours on the bike! It takes a while for the body to adjust to changes in consumption or activity level. Oh well, three pounds is easier than thirty.
Our Daughter is giving us details and photo's of her Universities tours in Ontario and Quebec, gotta love modern technology.
My son has gone and bought a bike as he is losing his movie star eight pack. Last year he was on the ninth floor of residence and took the stairs every time with his backpack full of books. Now he is in a house and even though he walks the 3km each way to school and back, it isn't enough. He has also cut out the beer. Both his Mother and I are good at doing what needs to be done so I am not worried about him at all. I would not be surprised to see him transfer back here next year for school as he is finally noticing the difference in the weather and the bugs. We don't have insects flying around out here on the coast trying to eat you at every oppourtunity and the weather is certainly more stable and mild.
Wife is at another dog show for four days, I told her to make sure they get all the dog hair out of there as our biggest train show is up next for the joint.
TF, sorry you got hit by the flu. I need to go get my flu shot, we get them for free and still last year I didn't get mine, I got lucky and didn't get sick. The only other year I missed was about twenty years ago and I got pneumonia out of the deal. I actually took time off work and when I went back they made me go home again.
Ulrich, I am well aware of the situation in Germany and similar situations elsewhere and can only say that people need to get out and vote and things will stabilize. Throughout history, if people used facts and rational thinking instead of uninformed emotion to make decisions, the world would be in a much more advanced place. Nothing like education to get a clear understanding of things, unfortunately very few are interested in learning and/or being engaged in what is happening to them.
Ken, glad to see your wife is making progress. Once she has healed up somewhat and gets her muscle tone back, she will realize it doesn't hurt to be active with the new part and will be even more active than before the surgery. At least that has been my observation of those around me that have gone through it. Did they mention water running? That is a big part of rehab they use up here.
I think the Royal Hudson will be here by February
Well, the trailer is ready to sell, so I best get going on posting ads. We hope to get $12,000.00 for it. Similar ones on the retail lots are listed for $16 to $18 thousand, we will see as ours needs repairs.
Time to hit the shower (now I have stopped sweating), have lunch and get to it.
All the best to all.
Brent

Evening Diners
I got sick of being in bed today being sick so I got up to work on my bridge a little bit.
I had to cut the foam away and get the bridge down on the ground so I can see exactly where my footings are going so my pillars are straight.
You can see with the temporary bamboo skewers for reference that the footings are lined up within reason. They can be adjusted a little bit before I glue them in permanently.
I'm hoping to put the bridge shoes on the bridge with the support plates and install the pillars tomorrow. I'll give you an update picture if I do
PS I'm sad I missed International Talk like a Pirate Day on the 19th. Now me have to wait a whole nutter year ladds, I keep me ship afloat in -Da- meantime Mateys

Flo, give the gang and I a please. Give Ulrich, Rick and Steven a RBF.
Wife, 2 steps forward, then one step back. But she knew it was going to be this way, well sort of. Daughter watched over some today so I could get some needed running done, it was good to be away from the house for a while.
Kelly the theropist will be at the house between 9:00 and 9:30 AM Friday. Wife is not happy about the time but I am. Get the first workout done early.
Ed Ran the Canadian National Heavy Pullman car for the first time tonight. While it is a little stiff as far as rolling, it tracks great.
Trains are moving well, wife not so much.

I hate Rust
Evening diners,
Nothing really going on, got the roof on the front porch done.
Got my paycheck! And it's only 55 bucks... bummer... that's what happens when you don't get called into work. This week I'm going to make sure I get at least 30 hrs.
Anyways, Tomorrow I'm going into town (baton rouge) to Rods house to help him out with his layout, I should get some scenicking experience.
And Saturday it's clothes shopping, I need some more clothes for church.
Well I told you guys that I asked a girl her number, well I think I got it wrong! so I gotta wait till I see her again to get the right number! Stupid "smartphone"!
I gotta do an oil change on my truck this weekend, I'm almost 1000 miles over, I follow the 3k interval.
I'm going to get a wix filter and Shell Rotella 10w-30 heavy duty oil, I'm one of those guys that only uses one brand gasoline, my parents don't get it.
I read using "diesel" oil is actually good for an engine as long as it's got a "SN" certification, which the oil I'm getting does, plus it's on sale for 14 bucks a gallon.
Evening all.
I need something Packed with sugary goodness....
Flo, could I get some deep fried Twinkie's ?
NWP SWPWell I told you guys that I asked a girl her number, well I think I got it wrong!

I once asked a girl out to dinner. She replyed that I could meet her at her house , and she would cook dinner for me. She gave me her address, and I said I would be there at the agreed upon time.
Well..... When I got there, Imagine my suprize, when an elderly Japanese man opened the door. I could see inside the house, and his entire family was at the dinner table. ( At least I got the time right. L O L ) No trace of the girl that had invited me.
Now it was a low number address ( I was right on the dividing line of NE / SE ) so I figured I went 3 block's the wrong way. I walked 6 block's the other way and found the CORRECT address again..... only this time , it was a vacant lot !!!
Pretty sure she didn't actually want to eat with me.
( maybe she couldn't really cook ??? .......)
NWP-SWP SAID,
That is an "INCREADABLY BAD IDEA" !!!
Oil formulated for Diesel engine's has Different Additive's in it than Gas engine oil.
Rust...... It's a good thing !
This is what I was going to put in.
Also good story
This is the API certification for that oil.
Introduced in October 2010, designed to provide improved high temperature deposit protection for pistons, more stringent sludge control, and seal compatibility. API SN with Resource Conserving matches ILSAC GF-5 by combining API SN performance with improved fuel economy, turbocharger protection, emission control system compatibility, and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.
The OEM requiment for oil is a SH and CD.

I'm afraid that I have to agree with Little Timmy. Don't believe everything that you read. I'm not sure how many older pickup trucks are still on the road doing just fine on regular engine oil, but there are more than a couple. Why reinvent the wheel? Why take the chance??
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
So do shell Gasoline oil, OK thanks, I don't know all this stuff yet! Time to learn though!
Edit, I just checked, turns out I'm already running Shell motor oil! I've got Pennzoil in my truck which is a shell product

Oh man Timmy that is a sad story.
I once blew a relationship with a girl in high school. She did go on a date with me but I made two mistakes. First, I got into a car accident the day of the date. Nothing serious, just a busted headlight and some fender damage. Not my fault, and I was able to patch the car up so it was driveable, but I made the stupid mistake of telling her mother about the accident when I picked her up.
The second mistake was that I took her to see 'The Exorcist' on the first date. She kept her eyes closed and covered her ears for most of the movie. I was laughing (at the movie, not her).
She wouldn't go on a second date with me. She told me her mother wouldn't allow her to. Wonder why?

Once again, you are getting terrible advice from somewhere.
Diesel engine oil, especially any top quality oil made for modern diesel engines, and Rotella is fine oil, is not the correct choice for gasoline engines.
Modern heavy duty diesel engines (which Rotella is made for) use an Oxidation Catalyst, Particulate Filter, and SCR Catalyst in the exhaust aftertreatment system. The additive package in these oils has changed significantly so they do not produce any harmful combustion by-products that will hard these expensive components.
The content of the additive package makes these oils unsuitable for use in any spark ignited reciprocating piston engine.
Use what the vehicle manufacturer recommends, and nothing else.
Stop with all this gear-head nonsense and take care of your vehicle properly. If you do, it will take care of you.

well KFC is not what it used to be since Yum brands bought it from Pepsi.

How about some Kentucky Derby Pie today ?
"Derby pie is a chocolate and walnut tart in a pie shell with a pastry dough crust. It is made with walnuts and chocolate chips. The pie was created in the Melrose Inn of Prospect, Kentucky, United States, by George Kern with the help of his parents. It is often associated with the Kentucky Derby.Wikipedia "

MLC. ... Nice videos . ... The lead unit in the first video is a PAL road slug mated with a GP40. .. .in the second video, I saw some drivers foolishly driving their cars in front of trains at the crossings. One motor cycle guy apparently changed his mind at the last second before he would have tangled with a BNSF locomotive.
