Evenin' Folks!

Today has not been the best day around here.....  I did get the lawn mowed (It really needed it).  But......

Early this morning I got an email from my son Matt over in England followed by two phone calls that ended up on the message machine.  It seems that My Sister, the Rev. Janice Miller, has now been put on morphine to ease her pain and has one or two more days to live.  She has had stage 4 cancer for over 8 years and is only one of a couple people who have ever gone into remission with the type she has after reaching stage 4.  I called and talked with her grandson and did get to say hello to Jan (actually more goodbye!) for a minute or so.  She had just gotten more morphine and was barely lucid at the moment.

I am now waiting for my son over in Waterloo to call me back to make sure he knows what is going on.  Then I need to spend a couple hours on the phone with my other sister in Canandaigua.  Supposedly she was sent an email from my son in England this morning and probably was called by someone of the family in Florida.  She has not, as far as I know, ackowledged either.  She may be having some problems with the content.....  She has had mental problems before so I hope she is OK!

So,  Hope your day has been better than mine!

Ray, Sorry to hear of your bad news.

These times can really knock it out of you so try and stay well rested, it helps with the stress. Will you be going over?

Take care.

BATMAN
Will you be going over?

No.....  Way too far to drive and I likely would not be able to afford all the cost for the flight and the rental of a car at the other end.  By the time I got there she may be gone anyway..... I will wait until they come up here to inter her remains in the family plot in Canandaigua next to her husband.  I will host a get together for them at that time.  I also have way too many things on the calendar at the moment including my 50 year reunion in two weeks.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, the gang and I will have a Beer please and give Ulrich, Rick and Steven what they like.

Boy I am beat. Wife did the exericse she had been doing and it has messed her up! More than likely she has strained a muscle because she was not working out before the surgery! Bang Head She has spent half the day crying, which make me sad and mad! My daughter and I have both told her theropy hurts! I really don't think she believe us. She get the new Knee and after two weeks she be skipping around the yard!

Ray Sorry the hear the bad news. Yes your day was worst than mine.

Brent Thank you for your comments! Just make sure your sister works out before the knee replacemt.

By the way Brent, have you gotton a Royal Hudson yet? Is it pretty much the same as say a NYC Hudson? I happen to go to the Repido U tube site and watched there full video, nice engine.

New respect for Repido not that I ever disrespted them. I watched there video on there new N Scale Turbo Train. At one point (I think it was Jason) said the HO Turbo Train Sucked. Not often a Manafacture will said something like that.

Trains are running well, wife not so much.Whistling

Hey, Ken!

cudaken
At one point (I think it was Jason) said the HO Turbo Train Sucked. Not often a Manafacture will said something like that.

I wanted a Turbotrain and bought one a few years ago. It has the improved gearing. I think it is pretty nice!

Amtrak Lineup by Edmund, on Flickr

Rapido Turbo by Edmund, on Flickr

Rapido probably had to do some warranty repair on the early gear drive. Maybe that's why he (Jason) doesn't have such a good opinion of it. There was some pretty fancy engineering to get the cars to couple over the single axle bogie. The custom sounds are pretty cool, too and it came with an excellent book on the history of the UA Trubo.

I got to ride it a few times between Penn Station and New Haven, and the CN ones in Montreal Cool YesBig Smile

If Rapido ever remakes it in HO I'll send you my old one Whistling  Rapido had some "growing pains" with their early products but they're hittin' on all eight cylinders now!

Royal Hudson is probably a year away before it is available to us commoners.

I hope you don't lose patience with Mrs. Ken. It is important to get those muscles and circulation going again, though.

Thanks for the Crown Geeked

Cheers, Ed

I saw my doctor on Monday about my achilles tendon. He suspects that it is partially torn and it will probably require surgery, again. This will be the third time.Sigh

Morning folks!

Late night here in the bayou state.

My heavy flat is finally in interchange service on the MSMRC!

Nate the club DunceBang Head was hating on my truck today, so I did what every responsible, mature, adult man would do... challenge him to a drag race!Laugh

It's scheduled for after I get the 351w into it, I'll beat him with cubic inches, he's got a modular 5.4L (so like 327 ci) and the 351 is 5.8L. He drives a stock Mercury Grand Marquis.

Called the boys in blue up in Dearborn at Fords SVO group, wait no they're "Ford Performance" now not Special Vehicles Outfit.

Got some great advice on my truck.

Back to trains, seems somebody opened a non sanctioned Instagram account for the club, my money is on Nate, why? Well because last business meeting I suggested we open an instagram account, no one else thought it was worth doing so I said forget it. Well the first thing Ben said to me today was "did you open an instagram for the club?" I told him I wouldn't without Casey's permission which I never got. So I figure Nate is trying to frame me, which he's done before during op sessions and stuff.

Enough said.

Well funny story for today, I was talking to my friend Sarah, I had thanked her for some wardrobe advice for the Fall Art Crawl, well she said and I quote "NP my dude" now the funny thing is I've been called Dude, Bro, Fam, Man, ect... but never any of those in the possessive tense. I was like what gives with the possessives all the sudden?!Laugh

I know it's probably nothing but it gave me a good chuckle.

So I asked a girl for her number the other day, I've been talking to her when I see her for a while and she seems interested, so I finally asked her number, she gave it to me and said to text her, which I did, but I haven't gotten a response in a few days so I'm thinking I punched the number in wrongDunce, I'll see her again in a few days and rectify the situation.

I know someone was telling me to not get into a "serious" relationship at my age, I completely agree, I'm merely testing the waters, getting a feel for it, learning the curve so to speak. Which is important because I need experience because my social skills can sometimes be, well, lack luster.

Well that's all from me, I've got work in the morning and it's 1am, or way past my bedtime.Laugh

Goodnight all!Zzz

Good morning ....

Ray....... I'm sad to hear your news . Condolences and prayers to you and your family.

Ken ... I know your wife's exercises will hurt. I hope she can do all of it.

Ed .... The Turbo train looks good .

I'm continuing with a lot of dental appointments. Yesterday, I had two teeth extracted. I did not use the pain medicine he prescribed for me to take at home afterwards. I would rather feel the pain than get loony on a drug.

Cheers !

Morning All!

My condolences to you and your family as well, Ray.

Hobby Front: I think I have the track plan finally figured out for the new layout, although I will have to build a short (about 4-5") extension to accomodate a tail track for the car ferry yard. I originally had thought about putting another turnout to connect to tail to the mainline, but decided I didn't like the idea of a turnout on a removable shelf so I settled on a 22" curve and a 6" straight for the tail.

On the subject of curves, I need to watch what I'm doing with curves. Somehow, I ended up with a 15" R curve in my track that I had pulled from the old layout. Angry The corner in question was supposed to be all 22" R. The only reason I caught it was the track was damaged and I decided to replace it. (That radius was supposed to have been in the storage tote for what was planned to be an expansion if I ever got a large enough area.) The problem was fixed to the tune of about a half an hour or so. (Recutting some sheet cork and reattaching the cork roadbed edge.)

I still need to trim and attach some flex track for the connection of the car ferry yard to the yard and a runaround track for the team track yard. Once that's done I think I've got all the track laid.

Slowly but surely, it will get done.

Afternoon folks,

Ray, my condolences and prayers.

I found a Ford Mass Air kit for 351Ws backed by E4od transmissions, it's 800 bucks, so it's a lot but better than 1500, to work I go!

I saw some 351w Marine Headers, whoooeee, they look so much cooler than automotive ones, but they're water jacketed so they won't work in a truck, I found some automotive headers that have a similar look.

I'm also looking at getting some "flareside" running boards, and eventually I'm going to get the truck repainted the stock blue/green color and then get some dark blue racing stripes with sky blue pinstripes.

I gotta get to work to pay for all this.

Steve

She got off the bed twices today with out help! Big Smile She was very shakie but with no help!

Ed Thanks for the offer on the Turbo Train! Big Smile I was hot for them when they first came out but after the feed back I read, I said No Thank You.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could use a cup of decaf at the moment, please and thank you.

Thanks very much for the good thoughts, prayers, and kind words for my family.  We are still playing the waiting game.  Haven't heard anything new today.  Just got off the phone with my sister in Canandaigua and she is doing fine but is very sad about the whole thing.  She reminded me that after Jan passes that leaves just two of us to keep the younger generation in line! LOL

Ken, good to hear your wife is making some progress!

Thanks Bear, no the one who travels all over the world is the one in Canandaigua.  In fact, she will be gone on one of her trips in another week.  The Rev. is the oldest of us three and other than being a missionary in Taiwan for a couple years, has never done much traveling although she has lived in several different locations in the US (NY, Indianna, and Florida to name a few....).  No word yet on anything, BTW.
