Here I'll make it easy.

https://www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism/asperger-syndrome

Just to clarify something that makes my situation and probably hundreds, thousands of others, worse is I look like a regular guy.

This is me as of July this year. It was outside a restaurant we went to to celebrate my graduation.

Thanks for the support of everyone here by the way.

Also top of page, drinks are on me.

Good evening.

Ken.  Regarding your wife’s knee surgery.  My friend here had that.  I recall he could not drive for a period after the surgery .  A couple of times, I took him to PT. The stretching exercises were an ordeal .  Just telling you because your wife will need you to continue with understanding and support . You are doing a good job with her so far. My friend has completely recovered and is doing well. ... I recall what you do regarding Galaxy.

Terry ... Sorry to hear you may need hip replacement. Prayers for that  .

Steven NWP SWP ... prayers for you .

everybody... Have a good evening .

Thanks for the prayers Garry.

The whole Galaxy thing was he didn't like the diner "changing" or evolving, specifically anything that I was doing that he perceived as "change", Mr. Otte got after him he got mad and left, perhaps someone can reach out to him and tell him he's missed.

I kinda liked him being he worked in the hotel industry like my Dad and I.

So I'm not going to get into details to much but I talked to my friend Sarah and we're cool so that's good, she's really happy like a whole other person, she's starting to enjoy college, I'm happy for her.

I went to the local small town pharmacy and asked Malory for her number,  we know each other from way back but we didn't know each other, we were in the same AWANA group but it was divided by boys and girls so we didn't know each other well.

Everytime I go in there she talks to me and it's like obvious she might be "interested"

I was going to go tailgating at the ZHS football game with my church but I got there too late so I got Canes instead.

When I was pulling out of the drive through I looked inside the restaurant like I always do to see if anyone I know is there. These girls were sitting at the high table along the window, one of them was just staring at me with her mouth open, her friends were nudging her and stuff, it was pretty hilarious.Laugh I guess she thought I looked pretty good in my truck that's almost half again older than me.

I'm contemplating getting a low mileage 351 Windsor to tinker with, GT40 heads, Lightning/GT40 Intake manifold, Mass Air, perhaps a H.O. cam (I heard the Explorer cams make tons of torque but are horrible at highway speed, and the Mustang H.O. cam makes ok torque and a lot of HP/speed, so perhaps a custom cam that's a happy medium of these two would be in order) long tube headers, dual side pipes (two out each side), perhaps a procharger or a hood scoop induction (shaker anyone?) The ultimate goal would be to swap the 167k mile 302 and perhaps the E4od (also 167k) for the 351w and a lower mileage E4od, I'd also get the engine parameters to be a scaled up version of the 302 H.O. performance specs for the A/F ratio, throttle response, timing, ect.

Why am I going to use stock "performance" parts? Because 1 I'm cheap and 2 I'm not looking to have a monster just something that if I wanted to spin the tires coming off the line at an intersection I could.

Well that's about all from me.

Brent just to post it again, I'll be doing she's got a way and if you could read my mind with a piano and maybe a guitar.

You may be right is going to be with the garage band, which I'm soooo looking forward to.

I'm also really excited about she's got a way, Billy Joel is my all time favorite musician so to do one (actually two) of his songs for an audience is going to be really great.

Heres some Billy and some Bleachers (he's really cool because his stuff is new but has this quasi 80s vibe)

Wow that post is longer than I thought it was!

Another modification to my truck is going to be a sun visor (the ones that come out like a hat brim) and I'm considering changing the steering wheel to one out of a late 80s Mustang (non airbag)

I also have to replace the vinyl dash pad, it has a Crack right in front of the passenger seat, and the tailgate reflector trim is broken, so I'm going to get one that has the blue oval on it instead of F-O-R-D, and the body trim bumpers need replacing too.

I'm also considering getting a jump seat to replace the center console. Ya know for "reasons"Whistling

Terry, sorry to hear of the needed surgery, they are doing great work today and you seem to be a pretty healthy Guy, so I suspect you are an ideal candidate for a new hip .  we'll be saying a prayer or two for you.  Keep us posted.

Ken, Keeping your Wife in mind when we get on our knees as well.  That is a rough road for her, but try and stay positive and encourage her. She needs your love more than anything else at this point.

Ulrich, sad to here things have gotten so bad on your side of the pond. We truly live in a very strange and screwed up world compared to when we were kids.

Thanks for the Hi-d-ho Gary, I always keep track of what you are up to there.  Glad all your health visits to the big V. have been good ones.

Steven
,  you are a great looking specimen, and with all the talents you have believe me there will be a slather of young ladies looking for your attention.
Just don't force it. That special one will come probably unannounced and when you least expect it, but you will definately know it when it happens. And then it is really great.  Just be patient and enjoy all the things you have going for you right now.  You can wait a couple of years as young ladies take up a lot of money and time. Concentrate on getting yourself into a better position for when that time arrives.   I like Ed would take you on as a Son too.  I have had lots of experience with them as I had 4 Sons.   And like Terry, I applaude you as well.. Keep up the good work.

Mr. Beasley, hope you and all the others on the east coast are safe and dry.  I can't imagine people not heeding the warnings and getting out of there as soon as they can.  Prayers for all in that area.

Hey there FrryKid,    In regard to the Athearn  observation car,  I might be able to help you with that.  I believe I have one here but it has the fluted sides.
Is that what you are looking for or is it a smooth sided one ?
Johnboy out.

The streamlined Athearn observation does have fluted sides. That is normal for them. Yes, I would be interested. Sorry I didn't see it until now. I didn't check this post this morning very well.

Ha! No, never a mailman, Brent. But when the need arises — I can deliver Smile, Wink & Grin

Here's a few concepts I try to keep in mind while I'm visiting the forums.

Number one — this is basically a form of entertainment. We're not negotating a treaty for world peace here.

I scan through the threads the same way I used to read the newspaper. A quick glance through the columns, if something catches my eye, I read it. Otherwise, pass it over. So if I'm not interested in somebody's bunion removal or the bad grouper they had for lunch I simply pass it by. No biggie.

We're here in a virtual "Diner" eating pretend food in a fantasy location served by non-existant staff. When something "changes" or doesn't go the way that I may hope it would should I be upset and threaten to leave? Really?

I visit here to exchange thoughts and share ideas, mainly about our shared hobby, but the social aspect is very valuable to me as well. I've been fortunate that I have a temperament where I don't easily get riled up. Let's put everything in perspective and not get too frazzled over such seemingly trivial things.

A toast to your health and well being, everyone!

Cheers, Ed

Number one — this is basically a form of entertainment.

Ditto.

For those of you not in the US, there is a video circulating on social media of the Weather Channel  (I have no idea if it's real or a spoof) of a weather guy almost being knocked off his feet by the winds of hurricane Florence.  In the back ground, two kids walk a few feet behind them, and their clothes don't even ripple with the "severe" wind gusts.

It it's real, that's sad.  If it's fake, how gullible we have become, either way.

On the MR front I took apart my Bachmann Vanderbilt tender to see how to install a sound decoder.  What a Florence!  The truck, which I took off, are held by a nut.  To reinstall the nut, you have to remove the decoder and the fake coal load, and have one of those screw grabbers.

The coal load is wider at the bottom than the top, so removing it and reinstalling it is a bear.

I also glued together bits and pieces of my CMR turntable that didn't survive shipping from Ebay.  One rail came loose.  The PO lowered the boggies to contact the rails.  Not sure why he had to do that, but it looks necessary.  One set sheared off because it was packed with plastic bags, yes empty plastic bags as padding.  I got a discount on my purchase price for that.

For those of you not in the US, there is a video circulating on social media of the Weather Channel  (I have no idea if it's real or a spoof) of a weather guy almost being knocked off his feet by the winds of hurricane Florence.

Ever since "news" channels have accepted advertizing dollars they have been ever so clever and creative to try to attract viewers, thus ratings, thus revenue.

I live in an area along the Great Lakes that is part of the "snow belt". One winter evening driving home from w**k I passed through our town square where there was a camera crew set up with the satelite dish pointing up in the sky.

It WAS snowing but the roads were only wet and there was a total of perhaps six inches of accumulated snow on the ground.

A short time later I arrived home and Mrs. Pullman had the TV tuned to the same channel that the "reporters" were giving their "in-depth" coverage of the severe weather event that was transpiring.

"It's pandemonium out here, Chet! In the short time we have been here the snow has already dumped several more inches- [the camera pans to where the talking head holds his hand over a snow pile that had obviously been left from already plowed snow with only a sprinkle of fresh snow on top of that] Do Not Leave your houses! Stay off the roads for your — and everyone else's — safety"

I shook my head, are they kidding me? I just drove through there not ten minutes ago. Even in the background of the TV view you could see school buses and other traffic flowing along just fine.

Oh, I could go on... These "news entertainment" types rely on the gullability of the unsuspecting public and by the look of things they sure have found a willing audience.

I miss Walter Cronkite.

Cheers, Ed

Did someone say snow..... 90 degrees and very sticky today at the MR show in Minnesota. I would prefer snow over that hot sticky crap, especially in September.

But seriously folks let's just hope we can get a nice long fall with a nice long Indian summer, my favorite time of the year. Wouldn't that be nice!

I dug a little deeper in my pocket than planned today Zip it!  I usually do.  I won't post pictures of everything I bought just my favorite thing. My favorite steam locomotive is a Challenger. This 2-6-6-2 is close enough for me. Looks better navigating radius too.

My favorite part is it's undecorated. I can make it any road name I want and get a little experience with decals..... so if you have any advice for me on decals please feel freeBig Smile

Howdy Everybody !

Flo, I'll take a Stiff Shot of whatever you use to remove paint around here !

I had a rough week at work, and today my wife decided that I should spend the day moving stuff. On the bright side, I got most of my workshed/modeling space back ! ( YAY!!!) Downside... my back is killing me.

Steven NWP/SWP  I dont mind you posting your "Girl Trouble's" here, sometime's we all need somebody to "vent" to.  But just to put thing's in "Prespective" for you, I have found Mrs. Right at least 50 or 60 time's over the course of my life. Dont be in a hurry to find your Mrs. Right. Heck... I dont think anybody should be in a "Serious" relationship untill their at least 30. Nobody really know's what they want untill then. ( I didn't get married untill I was 32.... and even then it turned into a DISASTER!)

I got married again when I was 42.   This time it stuck .....

I keep her around because she can cook..... she keep's me around for Heavy lifting !

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer and Ulrich, Rick and Steven what they want.

Wife Front While she on her feet she does sort of OK. But she cannot get up by herself, no upper body strenght. What has me ticked off for 2 years (we knew this going to happen sooner or later) and I have been trying to get her to work out some! I even offred to get her a membership at the local YCMA that is a whole 2.25 miles from the house. Nope, she would not do it! Now we are both paying for it! Bang Head She did start working out 3 days before she had the knee replaced! Whistling

Ulrich To be honest sir, the dinner seems pretty much the same as the first time I stepped in. Yea, new faces and new topic's and intrest but is it what the dinner was bulit for?

Ken     I have had a total of 6 knee surgeries on my right knee.

When I originally blew out my ACL when I was young I had some bad experiences with knee surgeries and let's just leave it at that.

I finally got to a top notch surgeon with his own practice in downtown Minneapolis. He took apart my previous knee surgeries and hardware, sent me home for 45 days. Then brought me back and rebuilt my knee with my own tendon.

I recovered from that surgery and was back to work in 2 weeks. That was 20 years ago. He told me I would be back again when I got older if I kept doing construction.

Well guess what?  I was back 3 years ago. He put my knee back together again..... My knee works great again, the only difference is it took me 6-8 months to recover instead of 2 weeks.

I'm living proof knee surgeries are tougher to deal with as you get older..... I suppose that's probably true for anythingTongue Tied

I can tell you this though. The more you get on it and use it,  (even though it hurts) the faster the recovery.

Greetings,

well this weekend was a bust, we went down yesterday to our little house in MS and found that someone had broken in and had been squatting. Turns out he was hiding from the police in our house. He however had been arrested 2 weeks earlier and was still in jail. He pretty much trashed the house looking for money then ate any food we had, used the toilet (yuk)

He gets charged with burglary in our case and not just vadalism because he stole a pair of my old tennis shoes from the house.( which he was wearing when arrested for auto theft) He had also stolen a key I had stuck in an inside deadbolt so he could come and go.

I changed the locks and we cleaned the house up , but no way could I stay there the rest of the weekend. So we got back home last night at 1 am.

we brought all the bed linens on home to wash and we are going back in 2 weeks.

he also left behind some of his clothing articles and his shoes which is how they traced it to this guy. Sherriff dept was really good and a deputy that lives up the road will from now on check out house daily since he now knows who we are. We have had the place 5 years and this is the first big issue we have had.

Aaah, I really wasn't too sure with the four trunks and all. With a second look I see the leaves are certainly NOT sycamore Embarrassed The peeling bark made me think of sycamore. I love trees and have planted many specimens on our property, in fact, crepe myrtle was one that my wife suggested for a planting in our front yard.

Thanks for the heads up Yes

Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck.

I've actually watched almost all the stooges. I've got them all on dvd.

Yeah I think MLC is right about the myrtle.

MLC, hopefully you'll be able to recoup anything the squatter might've taken.

Ulrich, what set you off? I apologize if I offended you in some way.

Well no other things going on today. I got a new shirt from gap for church, it was FREE, well actually 7 bucks but I had a gift card so it was free.

My thoughts here would be to look into one of the surveillance camera systems that are out there today. I have security cameras that I set up myself and I can monitor any one (or all) of my 16 cameras from any web-connected device.

The costs for these systems have gone down considerably. Many will notify you with an email or text message if there is any activity on any of the cameras.

I'm surprized the constable didn't mention this as an option.

Good luck, Ed

I'm sure it is an indigenous tree for the area Ed, but we don't have those up here in our neck of the woods, especially with 4 trunks.

I may have to do some back research involving Euell Gibbons. I will let you know how that turns outLaugh
