I am also in touch with YGW:

He is not mad at anyone, or banned or anything.

He has this to say:

"Have been extremely busy. The doctors have sent me through a battery of tests and the news keeps getting worse,...

...Ask the guys to say a prayer for me, could use one right about now"

so let say prayers for him. his work is also stressing him, which is probably  not good for his heart.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast muffin, egg and cheeze, this morning to go along with my large pot of Seneca Lake blend Dark Raost coffee.  Huh?  yes my R&GV RR mug would do nicely.

Morning and the sun is shining here in the Finger Lakes.  I haven't even checked my on line place for how much the system made over the weekend yet.  Today is going to be busy as well.  Have an appointment over at school to meet with the lady who handles all the insurance for the district.  I will be changing plans for my health insurance, just need to decide wich one that is offered will be the best protection for me.  Also need to call the eye doctor.  Think I have pink eye as my right eye has been matted shut the last two mornings......  Might have a stye forming...  I dunno.

Johnboy, yes it was incredably high pressure most of the day on saturday.  The guy in charge of "Museum Operations" (the guy I barked at) was under the most extreme pressure.  Those of us on trains just had to do what we had to do....  I appologized to the guy first thing Sunday morning.  He told me that he had already forgotten all about it and winked...  When the Conductor spoke with him he immediatly agreed that train safety took precidence over all else. I just felt bad about the way I handled it.  Just one of those days....  I do know that overall we had a great weekend in terms of visitors and the $$$ brought in.  Point is when we are open we want each and every person who visits to have a wonderful and informative time.  That didn't happen all the time on Saturday.  It all comes down to always following the safest action at all times!  (I tried to find the actual rule in the rule book but couldn't locate it quickly...)  What I did, barking at the guy, is in itself a rules violation!

Prayers going out for all those who are in need.  You know who you are....

Good Afternoon!

It´s a rather damp day, spiced with a lot of thunderboomers passing over us. Where is the nice summer weather?

I am feeling much better today. The pain in my head is nearly all gone - it´s just down to a mere itch inside the ear. Breathing is also normal again, so I am on the mend!

I am worried about YGW - I hope we soon will here better news from him. Angel for him!

Have a good one , y´ all!

Mr. Ulrich: good for you, you'll pull through then!

Yeah, we will all Angel for YGW, as he joins the "heart issues" brigade.

Though we are working on it, I have run the #s 14 ways to sunday {on sunday} and we very well cannot afford the house, sad, i know, i have an option or two to check out, but not expecting much. not unless we find a spare $65-70K laying on the curb...

Hey all

Gotta be quick very intense stuff going on in my life. Lots of doctors appointments. Just finished a sleep study ( more bad news there )  and to add more pressure to the cooker I ahve 16 houses (average size 3.5k to 5K sq. ft.) plus I have been instructed to start two more bringing teh total in different stages of construction to 18 plus site inspectors, qaulity control issues, building inspectors, State inspectors, City inspectors and some of the major venders are not keeping pace....creating havoc in the schedule.

Thanks everyone for the concern I will be popping in and out when I can, I have been lurking when I have a second or two but that is about it.

Garry Congrats on the heart alive annivesary

Ken - Feel free to email or call whenever the time allows

Galaxy thanks for touching base and shooting me an email

Ulrich - hang in there my friend...listen to your better half and teh saw bones...

Evenin' folks!

Janie a cup of decaf and a slice of that Sweet Potato Pie with a big gob of whipped cream would go good right now.

[color=red]YGW[/color, hope everything settles down for you and the health troubles get taken care of...  Will keep you in my prayers!

The place has been pretty sparse here today.  Over across the street they have added 4 pages of nothing and most of that was from two guys.... Confused

I got changed over to a new health insurance policy this afternoon.  Should work out better than the one I was on (I hope).  I was looking for something else and came across this old video from the Museum.  The locomotive (FM H44-12) and the first caboose (Erie #C-254) constituted my train over the weekend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih3eEeylUYY

The FM was also leaking oil onto the tracks all day Sunday...  Guess she will need a few things done over the winter this year.  Next weekend we are open will feature our fleet of RG&E Locos, and our Two Kodak Diesels.  The trains will be pulled by GE 45 tonner Beebee Station and histories of the other 3 locos will be told and displayed for the public.

Later!

V8Vega

6 hours since yougotta above, I guess you guys have to work.

My new 98 Integra GS-R failed smog last Friday. You people in other states who don’t have to go through this expense and agony have no idea how lucky you are.

So this morning I took it to a mechanic about 8 or 10 miles away and he fixed it and it passed.

Cost $310 which included diagnosis, a new OX sensor installed and retest, I had already paid $50 for the 1st test so total was $360.

I had to leave it and I am lucky that there is a bus that goes from Sunland to Sylmar, it was a long wait for the bus out in the hot sun with no bench. And another shorter bus ride to my house so counting going back the other 3 bus waits were relatively short.

Some of the bus ride is kind of rural so the bus didn’t stop every block like it does in the town part or it would have been really a long ride.

There were 2 mentally unstable characters during this experience frightening me, I’m a senor, one on the bus and one at the bus stop

I’m retired, if I was working I would have had to take a whole day off..

When I moved to Massachusettes, I was surprisded by the tailpipe test, but being a brand new not-yet-paid-for truck, I wasnt worried. If it failed, I would have sued the manufacturer!

Here , in NY we don't but I would not be surprised if we did.

YOU should consider yourself lucky that it WAS a repairable item, not a scrapped car!

At least you HAVE the option of bus service where you live, I don't!

Anyway, have a good night everyone!

Gee, Ken, You seem to attract people late in the day.

Those people were looking for carboard-NOT with veneer, but with WOODGRAIN CONTACT paper stuck on it!

But in all seriousness, HERE, where I live is one of those "$400 BR suites" or "$400 or $500 or $600 7 piece LR set {one couch, two love seat, three chair, four- the tables- 1-coffee table, 2- end tables, and five a lamp for one of the end tables}" Places!!!! They advertise heavily, and IF we get the house, we may just check them out for a thing or two.

I assume the better LR set is the $600 set, but maybe it just is that it is a "different" set.

Don't despair, Ken, people generally Don't buy BR furniture in the summer, when they'd rather be outdoors, is MY theory! soon, with the kiddies off to school, it may pick up for you!

LOL, agreed....  I have started posting once in a great while when I feel I have something to add.  I completely quit that forum about 7 years ago when there was no moderation going on and some very racist, disgusting, crap was being put in over there as part of "politics".  All of the people who were part of that are long gone now, and the people are a much different crowd today, so I have gotten so I at least lurk over there to see what is going on.  The two guys that I mentioned are newbies having a ball at the moment learning about the hobby....  I ended up over there when there was a major war going on over here (that Kalmbach was finally able to solve and end!) and the place was shut down a lot.  Guy named Fergie told me about the place over there.  Today I mostly put items in the WPF thread over there when I have anything new to share.

Good to see you Flip!

Ken:

I had to LOL at your wasp in the shorts comment.  Because in the middle of taking out the old battery, my wife got stung by a yellowjacket.  She's ok, but she wasn't very happy.

The VW is a TDI, what we save on diesel we pay in maintenance.  And it gets much better mileage when I drive, she drives like the proverbial bat outta heck. Next vehicle will be a pickup, I hope.  I need something to take modules to train shows and/or pull a trailer full of club modules.

Good Evening all

A Beer would definitely taste good right now, but some icy cold agua will do fine.

Well, another work week done and over with. Was a real toasty one when I left the grind at 4:30, 101 degrees in the parling lot. Then I got home to 96 in my livingroom. I'll have to wait till well after sunset to tinker with the layout.

Got some plans for my three days off. Since the sciatic nerve has finally settled down after almost 3 months of torture I can return to doing some much needed fix ups around my house and property...more specifically finish some plumbing repairs. It's been water on/water off several times a day to keep the leak from making kitchen puddles. Got get some painting going, and clear away the abudance of tumbleweeds from around the house. I wish I could pile them up and burn them, but I don't want to chance setting the northern Nevada desert ablaze.

Really itching to get to the range and make some serious noise, Friday maybe...but...I just need to talk myself into the drive and then to tote around all that heavy high powered hardware. A casino buffett in Carson City just might be the right incentive. Make noise and beat up my shoulder then go to lunch...hmm...sounds like a plan.

Well enough for today.

Take care all

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer plaeas and get Tin Can one as well.

Fence Front Boy I will be glad when I am done worrying about this project! All I do is think about the problem. I was sure I was going to use the Oz-Post, they are holders that hold a 4 inch fence post in the ground.

1 Oz Post $108.00 8 holders

2 Sledge Hammer $25.00

3 Hammering Kit $25.00

Total $158.00 + tax less my Vet Discout so $142.20.

Kit for $108.00 all so only goes down 24 inches and some of the reviews there 6 foot tall fence wobbles some what, but still got 4.7 out of 5 stars. Then there is all of the labor beating the post in the ground? If I ever can afford to replaces all of the fence, I will need around 25 post - 8 from the first set leaves 17 post so I will spend another $216.00.

So I think a gas power auger is the way to go.

 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Powermate-43cc-Earth-Auger-Powerhead-with-8-in-Bit-PEA438/202532639

While I hate to spend $225.00 (Vet Distcount) from the start, in the long run I will feel better. Post will be 4 feet deep and below the frost line. I feel the post will be much stronger than with the Oz-Post Holders. Plus, I can sale it when or if I am ever done with it.

Tin Can Far as MPG, my wife is awfull as well. We have older Town Cars, when she drives mine she gets 16 Mpg around town. I on the other hand get 23 Mpg? Remember our cars weight 4000 pounds! When I worked for VW I got 49 Mpg with the Turbo TDI Jetta and I was not working hard to get it. If I could have any VW, 2012 CC with the Tubor V-6!

Galaxy Stay away from the cheap stuff, we weight close to the same. If you are not going to sit on it, it looks fine. I paid $1500 for a Flex Steel Living Home set 25 years ago and it still looks the same when I bought it.

 Later, Ken

Good Morning!

I got more than 7 hours of sleep without any interruption! Haven´t had that for years!

It´s a wet day again. Until yesterday, we already had 120% of the precipitation of an average month of August - way too wet. No risk of forest fires this year!

Well, it´s my birthday today, but we won´t have much of a celebration of that occasion. Petra and I will go out for lunch. It´ll be our favorite Asian place this time, after the Greek restaurant we went to on our wedding anniversary proved to be a flop. Our son will join us on Sunday - I am really looking forward to seing him. Last time he was with us was Christmas last year ...

Janie, whatever the folks are ordering today - put it on my tab, please! You turn 59 only once!

Have a good one!

P.S. Ken, please check your PM`s

Wasn't in yesterday as we had the marriage counselor yesterday so forth, so I had no chance to stop in to chat, though i did lurk to see who's who.

I see some got older while i was away.

dunno.

Trying to work out the #s for the house, an it looks better now than it did at first, but it is still so tight, we will be house poor..

I have 14 locos {HO} That could bring $30on the bay, IF i wnat to do that,,,,that could bring $420, plus about 25 RR cars @$6. a piece would bring $150, and lets say hte structure brings about $50. Thats a mere $620. Each structure toatl structures could bring $100 too,and track maybe another $200. so a total of just $920. NOW HALVE that, $460 is probably all i'll get! BUt may have too sell to help wihtthe house.

We have a recliner {MOH's} a loves seat, and we'd take those...there is a couch at my fathers that belongs ot me, so that too. There is an electric lift reclner at the new house, if we'd get them to throw it in we'd be set for LR.

There is a twin bed a the new house, we could get thm to thow it in too, then a twin bed already in the new house, if they throw it we'd be set for guest room, and the computer room is mostly furnished too. YAY!

Ultimately, if we buy the house, we will be very house poor, but maybe tha won't last?

dunno will talk ot the fin guy today.

I don't understand You saying You had pain though....I was mainly dizzy all the time. I went through that for two yrs. What helped Me tremendously though My physical shape/strength was great for My age......but I still can't ride a bike....not that I really want to.

Good morning, Diners !

Did you save us any birthday cake ?

Sorry, Garry - no birthday cake this year! It was an either we go out for lunch or I´d have a birthday cake question. I opted for going out for lunch to save Petra from spending half a day in the kitchen.

Our lunch was really nice! Petra had a Beijing soup (whatever that is) for a starter and I went for a traditional spring roll. Petra´s main dish was M8, translating into beef and vegetables in a curry and coconut milk sauce. Mine was "Beef Szechuan", nearly the same, but without the curry and the coconut milk, but a little more spice to it. Both dishes were delicious and we really enjoyed the meal. The proprietors know us well. We have been among the first customers when they opened the place 18 years ago and have been regulars since. The kitchen is a mix of Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian and Malaysian food, all prepared with great attention to taste and detail. The place is one of the cleanest restaurants I have been to. The best of all was the bill - $ 28 for the whole lot, including two beverages. A burger meal in a restaurant with that big golden "M" would have been the same.

However, as there is a request for a slice of my birthday cake - I suspect Petra will make a cake for the weekend, when Christian is joining us. I´ll hide a few slices from him Wink

Mornin' fellow diners...

Zoe, I'll have a large pot of Seneca Lake Blend Organic Fair Traded Dark Roast Coffee to keep my R&GV RR Mug filled for a while.  A couple of those sour cream glazed doughnuts would be good as well.

Garry got any photos of it to share?

My, my....  Ulrich you're just a kid!  Happy #59 Sir!  Hope you have a great meal later and a wonderful visit from your son this weekend!  In a couple more months I will be a decade older than you.

It is currently overcast here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Sun peeks through from time to time.  Temp outside is now 78°F with a high around 87° later this afternoon.  I shall try to get some lawn mowed today before it gets too hot.  The new wheels for the lawn mower (they are geared and are driven by the mower) came in yesterday and got put on last night.  Should have some squash to bring in from the garden (maybe a pepper or two) today also.

Have a great day!
