Galaxy - I know you don´t mean it that way, but in Germany using the term Herr with one´s first name is considered to be quite rude. In Austria, one may address the waiter in a coffee house like this, but only if this person knows your title and last name.
Difficult etiquette, isn´t it?

In the USA, we have several four letter words which are rude to say the least.

Good Evening Diners,
Flo, I'll have an Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.
Galaxy: That seems to be a decent house for a nominal fee. Of course, you have to assess your situation, but that one looks livable. Sounds like one of the main selling points is dry MRR space.
Hello to Ulrich, Garry, Ken, YGW, Dennis, James, Ray, John Boy, and anyone I may have missed.
Salads tonight for dinner. Leaf lettuce, celery, a little hard boiled egg, red bell pepper slices, cucumber slice, shredded cheddar, cashews, imitation bacon bits, and blue cheese dressing. Maybe a little ice cream for dessert, and it'll be dream land for sure.
I'd like a little Pinot Noir with that but MOH doesn't like much wine and when she does it's usually a white. Don't feel much like opening a bottle just for myself.
Prayers to all with current health issues.
I hope everyone is OK and safe.
Jim (with a nod to Mies Van Der Rohe)
Evening Dinners
Flo, please
Work Front Well that covers that.
Fence Front Been readin a little about pressured treated wood tonight. I now understand the rating system (well to a point). I need to find ground contact rated lumber in 2X10 inch and there is none to be had at the Big Box Stores. Need to check some lumber yards.
Little worried about YGW not dropping by. I am sure he is just busy, but with the new ticker problem we don't know.
Galaxy When did I say you where normal? If the basment is has the same foot print as the house 1800 sq feet is bigger than my house.
Not feeling great tonight so I am heading inside, Ken
I hate Rust
cudaken Galaxy When did I say you where normal? If the basment is has the same foot print as the house 1800 sq feet is bigger than my house.
Ken: It is ONLY 990sf finished above grade, and only 128 sf below {in the basement} so a total of 1118 sf FINISHED totally. MORE than half the basement is unfinished than not,and contains the oil burner boiler, the oil tank, the water heater, the laundry sink, etc is down there, all spread out over the unfinished part, so without moving it all to one side to a closet, or something, it would be unfinishable. only the side that is "finished" with drywall ceiling tiles and a rug is useable.
DArn the luck though, we are really only in a position right now of getting land on which to build, not to get a whole house,
once again, we are "a day late and a dollar short!"
dunno.

sorry.

V8Vega 2 hours since the last post so I'll chime in. Sat. 105 Sun.105 Mon. 99 and yes it feels like 105. Last night going home from the church singles group I go to every Friday I got caught in a police drunk driving sting. It only took a minute, the officer asked everyone if you have had anything to drink tonight. I guess he makes a snap judgement based on how you look and how you respond as to weather to check you out further. There were police everywhere. My license, insurance and registration is all correct, still its a little intimadating.

yes it is intimidating, i once- along time ago- was with a guy who was sober, just out of work wiht a 6-pack in his trunk, driving two us hwo HAD been drinking to another friend's house. He was stopped for a crooked bumper of all things at 2AM. They searched his trunk, and made him pour out the beer roadside BECAUSE HE HAD NO RECEIPT to prove he just bought it. They Strip Searched him on the side of the {country} road too! They let us all go with 'container' tickets. The Judge threw them all out....so I then started collecting receipts any time I bought alcohol.
One clerk I explained it too, thought I was joking. Then one day I came in and she told me her story: she was coought in a police sting, and ordered to pull over to the side of the road..why? because she just got out of work and was going to a friend's party. SHe was to bring a box of vino, and she had it sitting in the back seat without a bag or receipt, they gave her a hassle, a real hassle, but eventually let her go and warned her to get a receipt and bag next time!
Talk about intimidating!

Back in college, a friend and 4of her friends were driving back from a night out when they were pulled over. The driver passed the field sobriety test, but the cop didn't like how she was driving. My friend, who was obviously well over the legal BAC level, was ordered by the cop to drive them back to campus, or he'd arrest all of them. They got back home okay, but it unnerved everyone in the car, from what I was told. No word on what happened to the cop. Just an example why Ithaca is called "ten square miles surrounded by reality."
Uncle bob: it WAS clearly a case of harassement, that is why the judge threw out all the tickets.
I mean, Strip Searching him on the side of the road? {good thing country road at darkness!} I assume they were looking for drugs?
Dunno. The police DO only do their job, but sometimes it begs questions...
Now i hope i never get pulled over like that because I don't drink anymore and nor do I "hang out' with anyone who does...MOH on occasion have a drink, and usually drives us, but i too much or questionable, I will drive, even though I don't see so well at night.
Evenin' folks!
Janie just a glass of Reisling, Ah... Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry would be nice. All this talk of driving with Stuff in the car and not drinking any of it.......
Yesterday I took the Granddaughters and their dad (my son) to the "Museum of the Earth" just outside Ithaca, NY and then after lunch visited the Cayuga Nature Center. The museum has changed a lot since I was there with the Sci-Tek Camp from Boy Scout Camp about a decade ago. A few photos of them at the museum:
Just inside the main entrance there is a skeleton of a Right Whale:
They thought it was kinda cool to sit in a dinosaur nest with a couple life sized eggs.
How about the remains of a Woolly Mammoth? (That is their dad with them...)
We also went here:
I'll be back in a bit. Need to put the load of wash in the dryer so i will have clean socks to wear tomorrow...

Work was going badly Had a few customers that where looking for small cheap things, King bed frame, a queen sizes futon mattress (I had one), all ready bulit futon frame (had one I could sales) and then just plain stupid customers that would not lay down on mattress. They just wanted to look?
I was starting to close and 8 minutes till the door dinger went off! It was the Be Back I had been hoping for all day! While Cindy did not buy the bedroom set yet, she did buy the Memory Foam Kind sizes mattrees! YES! Made the whole day worth while and will help the old paycheck a lot!

Mr. Ulrich: You once shared a pic of your parlor stove here, as I had commented on one or something, so when I saw this, I thought of you!:

Ken:
Good things come to those who wait. Glad your be back came in.
Ulrich:
Keep taking those antibiotics; you will get better.
My car started doing weird things yesterday; 2012 VW Passat TDI, turned over 100K this week (lots of trips to Indiana in it). Keyless entry started acting up yesterday. This morning it wouldn't start. Luckily, I was able to figure out what was going on with the help of an internet forum devoted to VWs. Dead battery. Of course, I didn't have the metric socket required to loosten the battery holder; so a trip to Lowes to purchase same. Then a trip to NAPA (where a train buddy works) for a new battery. Got it installed, and it starts! And the doors open via the key fob, like they are supposed too.

In order to keep my position as Master and Supreme Ruler of the House, I don't argue with my wife.
I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk.
TMarshHope you feel better Ulrich.Angel
... unfortunately not! There is a nagging pain in my head, coming from that inflammation of the middle ear. The antibiotics seem to be doing their job, but a little slow, though. No wonder, they have a big job to do. Breathing is much better and there is 5 lbs. less of me than there was at the beginning of this week.
It´s a rather hot&humid day here - just enough to make me feel really uncomfortable.
Have a good one!
Good morning. Celebrating the big 73 today. Yesterday I did a little 1:1 building as I worked on a local Habitat build installing porch posts. This is the North of 53's first Habitat build. The house is almost finished. Also, yesterday my younger daughter and 14 yr old granddaughter ran the Parkersburg 1/2 marathon. It was my granddaughter's first long run. Really proud of her for her efforts.
V8-Vega, I am sure the Good Shepard does not care how we dress as long as we attend worship. Over the years, I have become much more accepting of people wearing jeans and shorts to church.
Uhlrich, hope your ear issue clears up in the next day or two.
Ken, good luck with the continuing fencing project.
Time to go to town to buy stuff for tonight's dinner celebration.

Work Was Real Slow, only 2 customers? Well to be honst, that was fine with me after all the Caboose Customers I had yesteday. Sometimes slow is good.
Next Paycheck. Much better than I thought it was going to be, but not great. I was thinking the next spiff was going to be around $150.00 with last night late sale, I was wrong. It is for $321.00 plus hourly wages so not bad.
Got the new Master Card Saturday. Boy I wish I could buy something fun, but I won't. Need some tires and fence supplies. Plus the wife needs new glasses and dential work so no toys for me.
James from I as well.
Tin Can Good to see you back! VW are very good car's, you said it is a TDI or was it a SDI? TDI's get great mileage with some effort from the driver. 50 Mpg is not hard if you drive right.
Tad worried about YGW. Are just lurking YGW?
Trains are running Great!
Latter, Ken
Evenin' Folks!
Janie, I could use a nice tall glass of lemomnade right now....
Been a couple long days out at the Museum. Yesterday was one disaster after another.... We were late getting the safety meeting going, and then by the time the diesels were fired up, brake pressure up to snuff, we should have been loading the first visitors onto the trains for the first trip to the Restoration Building. Unfortunately the PC caboose failed the brake test! The brakes wouldn't release. We have had the problem a few times this year, but after dumping the air pressure once or twice and making sure the hand breaks were released (have no idea why that should make any difference...) they have always released and worked properly for the rest of the day. Yesterday, nothing seemed to work. We ended up sliding the car with the brakes locked all the up to Midway station. We were push/pulling the consist of the two cabooses with both 1200hp locos so that was no strain at all... After another 45 minutes up at midway the system came on and worked properly. We tested everything several times and it passed the break tests... Who knows. We uncoupled the two trains and ran our regular runs (now an hour late).
The second trip down from the Restoration building we had a huge number of people who since they were already running late needed to get back down the line. I ended up with 47 people in my caboose for the trip. Back down at Industry the person in charge of everything down there wanted me to have everyone detrain before the other (following) train pulled up and stopped. I told him no and that I didn't take orders from him, I work for the Conductor and we can't detrain on a live track until everything (both trains) are secured. He was not happy with that at all! The conductor (Operations Superintendent) had words as soon as he found out and corrected that one, but I felt bad for yelling at the "boss" down there in front of the public. Next couple trips all seemd to even out and the numbers we were dealing with had come down to a sensible load for the run.
Then the old H44-12 Fairbanks-Morse managed to derail at switch #6..... Passengers got treated to an hour of demo on how to rerail a locomotive.... That took care of the program up at the restoration shop for the rest of the day. Everyone was in a foul mood by the end of the day, I might add! I tried to be cheerful and said, "Well, no one got hurt today..." I recieved several angry stares and a few growls back....
So today, the safety briefing was done on time, the locos and the brake tests were run before I showed up for crew call at 9:00AM, brake tests were repeated before we loaded, all passed today with flying colors. The switch, #6, was fully repaired and tested (some people were there rather late last night...) and today was a steady stream of visiters all day. Today was fun!
Hope you all had a great day too!
Brunhilda, I'll have a glass of red wine, please.
Had a quiet day at home. Just worked around the house and took it easy in the heat. That means frequent breaks. For me it's not the heat so much, but he humidity. And not being so young anymore provides a convenient excuse to not push it.
Sometime this week, I'll replace the wax ring on one of the toilets. Not something I'm looking particularly forward to, but it needs to be done. I fear the possibility of the floor being rotted. I sure hope not, so we'll find out when he time comes.
Ken: I'm not sure I'd want to turn onto that street and have that locomotive staring at me.
Talk about the deer in the headlights look!
Dennis: in this day and age churches encourage come as you are. Didn't used to be that way. Why? What changed? Just a rhetorical question. Ok Vinnie?
Hello to everybody.
G'd Evening Gang,
Jamie, a double RBF would be nice. Thin it down enough for my tube, Please.
It's been a busy week-end (three days) and I'm quite tired. So this will be fairly short tonight as I will be off to bed shortly.
Moon Boy, James, I hope you had a wonderful day for your 73rd Birth day. Hope you caught a fish or two.
V8 Vega, Dennis, I hope those flames stay far from you, I wouldn't want them breathing down my back either. We had a terrible time in the north of our province last month. There were thousands of people evacuated from all over the north as there were over 120 fires burning at one point and many out of control. But fortunatly the rain did come and cooled things off so that they could manage up there. Have fun with the new wheels. And glad you have good friends at Church.
Cuda Ken, Glad to hear your spiffs got bumped up, that should help a little this month. Don't get into a bind with that C.C.
S.L.O.W. Ray, Sounds like quite a taxing day on Saturday. Good for you to stand up for the correct chain of command, and keep everyone safe. Hope that other Chap got an adjustment, although his descion was a mistake, I'm sure he was feeling the pressure as well.
UP831, Good luck with that Plbg. job.. It is a bummer (pun) when the flooring is rotting and has to be repaired.
Ulrich, our German Buddy, You are always in our thoughts and prayers and our hope for you and Petra are that things will really start to improve for you soon.
Handy man Todd, I sure hope you and that good woman of yours had a great day at the Fair. You probably ate so many goodies there that there will be no room for Chinese Food this week.
Tin Can, Sometimes those electrical problems in vehicles can be more problematic that getting a wasp out of your shorts. Good luck with that.
Stagecoach CRHostler, Hope the pain has faded away for you and you feel much better this week.
Galaxy. I would hope that you find that pot at the end of the rainbow one of these days to help take the weight of those problems away for you and YOH.
YGW, We are concerned about you, hope everything is alright and you have been just too busy to check in..
To all our MIAs here, do come back and make an appearance, you are missed.
Have a great week everyone.
Well off to bed, I really need some ZZZzzzssss.

Good morning ...
JohnBoy .... Wow... You said you were tired, but you had energy to type that long post. Glad you did because it gives a good run down of what is going on with the Diners.
Grandkid duty has been suspended for the time being. We still had one grand daughter with us until yesterday. We met her Mom, Dad, and sister midway between here in Cincinnati. We met in Elizabethtown. for dinner.
Todd ... While they were here we went to an outstanding Asian restaurant in Murray.... I know you love Asian restaurants.
I hope this will be a great week for each of you.
