Mornin' everyone! A happy last day of the year to all of you!

Zoe. I'll have the #2 special today.  Over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the wonderful sour dough toast you have.  Oh yes, need lots and lots of Seneca Lake Blend Dark roast coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled.

I went to replace the little tiny screens in my hearing aids last night.  My left one wasn't working at all, thought it might be a dead battery, replaced that and nope...  Looked at the screen and it was completely plugged.  Got out the new screen with it's little tool used to take out the old screen and then out the new one in place and the old screen didn't want to come out!  Grrrr...  So I wiggled it some more and twisted and yep it came out, but with the entire sleeve that it goes into along with it!  I put the hearing aid back in my ear wigthout the screen assembly and gee, now I can hear!  Just tried to call the hearing center and they are closed for the holiday...  I'll call first thing on Thursday to get it repaired.  In the meantime I can hear the best I have in a long time in my Laft ear.....

I see Ulrich has the big yellow thing at his house!  That may be why it doesn't shine much around here. Whistling  Looks great sir!

...Galaxy, I don't mind Auld Lang Syne at all...  Great old Celtic Song!  But please don't turn on the Guy Lumbago version!!!  I can't take the horrible vibrato. Bang Head

Thanks for the comments on the Blacksmith Shop guys!  I can't wait to see how it comes out myself... Whistling

I will be going over to my son's house to ring in the new year....  By midnight we will be into a few hands of euchre or I will be Zzz.  Hope the weather holds good for the day!

Have a great day where ever you are and stay safe my friends!

Galaxy.... Thanks for psoting about Auld Lang Syne. Are you planning to wear your kilts and sing to us?Music

Well, I'd hike up me kilt and belt out a few lines...oh, HECK, NO! Y'all DON'T WANT TO HEAR ME SING! I mean it!

I recently went to the ENT Dr. to find out why my voice so raspy, he said "the false vocal chords were doing the work" and that "we don't take out the false chords because they cover and protect the real chords". He suggested Speach therapy if I wanted to TRY to improve my voice, but offered NO GUARANTEE with that either. I asked about singin lessons, he thought speach therapy more like it.

SO, NO, I'll spare your ears!

Good Morining,

Well Winterpeg is really living up to its namesake this morning. At 10 a. m. it is -34F with a windchill of -54, yes you read that correctly. I certainly won't be going outside today! Mind you it is sunny and dry.

With the cold we haven't being doing very much of anything. Far too much time in front of the telie watching the videos we took on our trip to Botswana and South Africa last April. The TV is in the basement room but we have a gas fireplace there so it gets rather warm after a while.

We have no plans for tonight. At one time we used to go out for dinner on New Years Eve but haven't done that for probably 10 years.

Ray, that blacksmith shop is looking absolutely amazing. You are a real craftsman.

My RR progress has been slight. I did put a diesel sound decoder under the N scale layout and will just put that decoder into a consist with the engine running, or at least that is the plan. I will set it for an Alco 244 as most of my diesels are Alcos. I might get another decoder sometime and set it for a GMD but I only have 2 GMD's, a GP9 and F7.

Garry, any news from Johnboy? I sent him a PM but didn't hear back.

Karl .... That's an interesting group of locomotives. It would make a remarkable lash-up!... I suppose a 4-4-1500 would make an interesting wheel arrangemnt, too. Whistling

It can't possibly be worse than my singing voice. Mine's been credited with making roaches leave!Dead

Morning Charlie,  and the rest of the Gang,

I never got your PM Charlie,  last one showing is from Galaxy on Dec. 14th.

Keep your chin up Buddy, it is starting to warm up.. It is only -25c in the Queen City this morning.

A couple of more tests to go, one after lunch today and I am told the treatments will start on the 13th.

I am feeling worse by the day,  hope they haven't waited to long to get started.

Have to have faith that they know what they are doing.  The Good Lord willing, I'll make it.

A Very Happy New Year to all the Diners and expect that Vinnie will keep it open until the wee small hours of the 1st.

If you DRINK,,   don't DRIVE

Best to all for 2014,

Good morning. It's 39° with 89% humidity. The high will be 48° and feel like 52°.

I guess I'll be taking a break today. Most of the left side of my body feels like it's still asleep. This is nothing new, I've had tingling on my left side for a few years. It's usually not quite this intense though. I have been pulling some really late nighters though and that could be part of the problem.

Rub it in, why don'tcha, V8Vega Dennis!

WE probably will do for New Years eve what we have done the past several ones. GO to bed, set the alarm for 11:30, get up watch the ball fall, toast teh new year, then go back to bed next year.

Nothing serious at our house anymore. Our partying till 2 am days are well over.

WIll call the Drs. office to see if my script is ready and go get it if it is. Hope so before they close, if they haven't already! Nope, htey closed. you get a hangup noise when they have. grumble grumble grumble. They lie, I called it in yesterday and it always says "your script will be ready by the close of the next business day" and it is not true. They call you when it is ready. I have t o tell them they need to change that!

WEll, a dull night here..

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THOSE who ALREADY have it!

Thoughts and prayers Johnboy

Not much going on here. The wife has a bad cold so will probably be in bed early, I wont be far behind as I was up early to get blood work done. Got a letter in the mail from the goverment saying they something along the lines of "woops we made a mistake on you taxes from last year and yadyaya you owe is  $70. Nice little gift from them Id say. I will have my aunt who does our taxes look at it tomorrow after new years dinner but Im sure I will end up having to pay it. I guess its not that bad.

Might do a little railroad work if thw wife goes to bed early, what I dont know. I was suppose to have some freight car kits coming today but that doesn look like it will be until Thursday now. I usually get a dozen or so kits right after christmas and that will be my freight car addition for the year. I have a backlog at the moment of close to 200 that need weathering. I only have about 100 weathered.

If Im not in tonight. Have a good new years guys and leats hope 2014 will be good for all os us both financially and health wise. See you next year ( tomorrow )

Evenin' folks....

Chloe, just a cup ofr hot chocolate to tide me over 'til I head over to me son's house for the New Years Eve get together.  Notice I didn't say party.  We are all getting too old to really do much "Partying" I guess.  They will open a bottle of champagna right before Dick Clark mumbles something like "Why am I here?  Is something going on?"  And the big Ball falls out of the sky and evertybody dances around acting like mental migets on the cold streets of New Yolk.... Then I will put my coat on and head back home unless I still feel like a few more hands of Euchre, then I'l head home...

Got a bit more done on the project today, I did!  Walls going up:

Walls in place:

I will reinforce the backs of the Octagon after it has dried.  Then I will need to clean up the joints a bit before proceding to the roof and base.

A Very Happy Moo... uh, Gnu...  Hmmm, Oh! Happy New Year to all!
