Good morning. It's 75° with 88% humidity. The high will be 85° and will feel like 93°.

Looked at the weather radar a little while ago and saw a line of thunderstorms stretching from Arkansas to the Gulf Coast making it's way across the lakes region of Texas and moving to the east. Looks like everything from Shreveport to Lake Charles stands a good chance of getting wet today.

I've already taken my morning meds that insure I'll be a healthier(?) and nicer person today. I'm not too bad without them. I just have a really short and highly explosive temper and people generally wish to be elsewhere when it makes itself known. Guess that's the American Indian half of me mixing with the bits of the British, Irish, French, Scot, German and Welsh parts of me among some others all mixed together in one sack. Oh well, you work with what you get. Maybe someday everything we do and say each day will come in a little pill.

Well Swepco (local power company) has already ticked me off this morning. They missed the timing for the switchover to one of their other generators and it resulted in a two second outage. I don't know what made me madder, the fact that it happened or that it was only two seconds. I didn't throw the computer out the window so the meds must be working.

No plans for today. Maybe the itch to work on one of the F3's will strike, maybe not. I'm hoping that my niece will go over to my place sometime today and come back with a couple of Wal-Mart bags full of DVD's.

Looks like there was a bit of excitement at the northwest turnout.

Hello everyone, It's been a little while since I posted on here. Been busy at work, but it's finally starting to get back to normal and now I can breath a little. Been in and out of doctors offices for the last two weeks trying to setup my back surgery and I also got bit by a tick and got lyme disease, but I caught in time so the antibiotics should clear it out of my system. I guess you have so many days after the bite to treat it or it's in your system for good.

The weather has been beautiful here over the weekend, about 60 or so. went to Waterfire last night with my girl friend and what a beautiful night it was. I have not done much work on my layout recently because of other interest I have, but winter is coming and I will start to spend a little more time on it.

Have a wonderful day and night everyone!!

I take handfulls of pills monring noon and night. I have a recorded number of scripts: They number 25!

Some are once a day, some are thrice a day. There isn't a one I can really do wiht out, we've tried, and I suffer for it.

Dinner is Chuck roast roasted to perfection in marinade.

Have a good night.

A little while ago my sister and her daughter were working upstairs when they noticed there's a leak in one of the skylights. At this point it's just a seep but like all leaks it'll progressively get worse. So that's another item on the repair list. With all this rain we're getting here I'm gonna get a real workout getting out to the car tomorrow for my trip to Oakdale. I have a doc appointment there tomorrow afternoon to get an evaluation on how my knee is doing. It's looking like it's going to rain all night and all day tomorrow, probably into Wednesday. Tonight we're expecting around half an inch hour, possibly more. The Lake Charles area is already getting twice that. Glad we don't live down there.

Goooooooooooooood evening everybody, hope all are well or as well can be.

I made a little progress on the Cedar cRapids Industrial Branch, which someday will proudly ship yesterday's CrunchBerries tomorrow. Here's a look at the ex-Rock Island roundhouse, which has been taken over by M. Feder & Sons junkyard. I didn't make an "exact" replica, just hoping to capture the "look" of the place. Think of it as "sung to the tune of..." or "in the spirit of..."

It's still very much a w**k in-progress.

Take care, thoughts and prayers continue for all who need 'em.

Calling it a night early as it's been a busy day. Tomorrow morning my father has a doc appointment in town and I have one in Oakdale early in the afternoon. He'll have to be finished with his by noon at the latest in order to make it to mine on time.

Didn't do any work on the F3's today. In fact nothing MR related got done. My sister and niece did bring me some of the DVD's from my place. Four Wal-Mart bags full. That's two racks worth. There are sixty-six in all. Among those are 'Thunderball', 'Tomorrow Never Dies', 'Jurassic Park', Jurassic Park: The Lost World', 'Jurassic Park III', 'Unstoppable', 'The Train', 'Golden Eye', 'The World is not Enough', Eight of the Harry Potter movies, all six of the 'Star Wars' movies, 'The Terminator', 'The Running Man', 'True Lies', 'Total Recall' (Arnold S.), 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom', 'Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade', 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls', 'AVP', 'Star Trek' (Chris P.), 'Star Trek Nemesis', Gone in 60 Seconds' (1974), 'Extreme Trains' (all episodes), xXx, xXx State of The Union', 'U571', 'Robocop Trilogy', 'The Longest day', 'The Lost Room'. That should be good for a while. If it isn't there's still six more racks over there.

You done yerself proud!

I knew there was a model there between the two, but had to look closer on first {well second} glance to see which one was the model and which one the real thing! First glance they looked the "same".!

Looks like a long day ahead. My father has an appointment with his doctor this morning in Leesville and I have one with one of my doctors early afternoon in Oakdale. He'll have to be done with his no later than noon to get to mine on time traffic permitting. It might be an interesting day after all.

Yesterday my sister and my niece brought me a bunch of DVD's from my place. So last night I was able to watch something other than news reports, congressional meetings, weather, lackluster sit-coms about pointless people with pointless lives, etc. It seems my father picked every one of the worst channels when he got his cable service. The only ones I can find that have any merit are TNT, USA, Discovery and The History Channel and it seems every time I check TNT and USA they have a long commercial break going that totally kills any interest I had in the program, and forget about watching in the morning unless you want to see how you too can cook perfectly, get you laundry perfectly clean, clean your kitchen in a flash with a tiny sponge or clean your carpet with a vacuum that doesn't need a filter or a bag. My mother bought one of those. Looks great, moves easily, costs a ton of money, leaves the dirt in the carpet. Guess you don't need a filter or a bag if it isn't gonna pick up the dirt. But anyway, last night I finally had my choice of what to watch. I wanted to get to sleep at a reasonable time so I put on episode one of Extreme Trains, Coal Train. At the end I was still wide awake because something phenomenal had happened. I had found it to be interesting. SO I set the TV's sleep timer for thirty minutes and changed the channel to one of the 24/7 news channels where they were saying something or other about our wonderful president (catch the sarcasm there?). I was asleep in five minutes.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a breakfast burrito please. Thanks.

Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 78.

Chris- Former roundhouse looks fantastic!Bow

Welp, only left the chair yesterday to go to Lincoln for dinner. Yup. The rest of the day was spent in front of the boobtube without tubes. HmmBoobLEDConfused? Anyway, picked up one of those 10 Zombie movies for $5 DVD’s a month or so ago and decided yesterday was a good day to watch themYes. Especially after the dinner experience I hadGrumpy. The food wasn’t all that bad, not good even for buffet standards, but can’t say it was bad either. But the WORST thing that could have happened, happened. I told you I was apprehensive about the place fearing we would get a male waiter, well (ha) that woulda been alright cause we got what I didn’t think existed. Yes, we got, horror of horrors….., a EuropeanIndifferent. A CaucasianSurprise. A, a, a, NON- ASIAN!!!Sigh We sat down and I told Brenda, “I don’t care how she does her eye makeup, that girl is NOT Asian”. She actually giggled at thatYes. There where three tables at the time we arrived and the service was…., let’s say less than what I am used toThumbs Down. In fact, I sat through dessert, staring at my dirty dishes from the second plate WHICH I was eating on before she came and took the first plate. UNHEARD of in my Chinese buffet world. If I wanted that kinda lacksadaisy scoot the dirty dishes aside until they won't fit on the table anymore type of dining experience..., I’d a gone to the Golden Corral or the Bonanza.  As we got into the car, Brenda said to me, “you know, I think you’re right. I’d rather have the Chinese wait on us. I don’t understand them and they don’t understand me, but at least they know it and don’t try and carry on a conversation with you. Well, except for that Suki. I really didn’t understand what that girl was saying.” I said "she was just angling for a bigger tip by telling us her story. But as I was STILL looking at my dirty dishes…I felt three dollars on $20 tab for a buffet was plenty. Besides, I came to the conclusion about halfwaythrough, this girl was not gonna wipe my mouth for me should I need it.” She shook her head as she turned away saying in a less than humoring way…”no, I doubt she would.”

That however has come to an end. I must return to the getting something done crowd this week. Vacation is over for Todd.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning everyone! I will have a pumpkin spice latte with a pumpkin bagel please. It looks like it's going to be a another beautiful day here in RI. Last night I spent some time trying to trouble shoot a certain section of track where I have been having problems with the rear of a consist derailing. I am running to powered locos up front and one powered in the rear with about 13 freight cars in between and  the rear of the consist was derailing at the turnout. The first thing that came to mind was a bad turnout, so I checked everything with a NMRA gauge and everything checked out. Next I check the trucks on the cars, because sometimes the plastic trucks will be twisted and that will cause derailments, the trucks were not twisted. I decided to run a different consist on that track and everything was fine. I checked the track and the cars, so the only thing that was left was the locos. I pulled the lead loco off and first thing I noticed was flat spots on the wheels...bingo. The lead loco stopped running and the rear of the consist was pushing faster than the front was pulling. I reprogrammed the loco and replaced the wheels and all is fine now. Probalby going out with the girlfriend tonight to shoot some pool and have a couple of drinks. Enjoying my vaction so far.

                          Have a great day everyone!

  Morning All,

Currently it is 54 with an expected high of 76 under partly cloudy skies.

W**k has been busy the past few days, and when I get home I am bushed. Just enough energy to make something to eat, and watch some NetFlix before heading off to bed. I hear that lone locomotive horn calling me to the train room, but just too tired to get in there.

Howdy ...

Chris: .... THAT roundhouse is outstanding! ..... Good to see you in the diner ekkp osting.

Regarding vacuum cleaners.... If they are not getting stuff off the carpets , the first thing to check is the beater bar. It does not take long for fibers and stuff to jam them up.

Regarding restaurants .... We don't go out often because there are not many good choices near by. It is 15 mile to town where the best restaurant is the Cracker Barrel at the Interstate. Next best is the Godfather pizza franchise at the Marathon gas station on Main Street. If we want something nearby, we can have bait Shop Pizza and be careful of the toppings.

Actually, the State Park lodge has good food when they are open. There is also a really good restaurant across the lakes, and we plan to go there with neighbors this Friday.  Some of you may recall my talking about that place last year. I nearly lost my wife to a choking accident. I did the Heimlich method to get the food up out of her windpipe. Now, Shelley is "My Main Squeeze".

Hope to work on the layout this evening.

Cheers!

In my last post I stated I would be starting to put up the wife's "Halloween Village" yesterday. Well, that didn't happen. I don't know why I plan things, as they never seem to work out. Anyway, some back problems came to visit on Sunday morning, and by evening, there were spasms and a great deal of pain. Got up this morning and my legs were giving out from time to time and had a hard time standing up. Got a shower, and with the wife's help, finally got dressed. We went to the emergency room and had a big surprise, no waiting. Registered and taken right in. Spent about 3.5 hours there and was released. First they administered a muscle relaxer, then by IV a pain medication & a steroid. After a series of x-rays, they drew blood & took a urine sample for lab tests. I was getting relief when some problems arose. First, I started to feel very warm and then started to sweat profusely. that was followed by severe naseau. All this was attributed to the pain medication. I've spent most of the afternoon here at home in bed. The back feels better, but the naseau hasn't eased up much at all. I'm not sure what caused the flare up this time, as I don't recall doing anything to cause it. I'm not going to make anyplans for the next couple of days, I'll just play it by ear.

I used to play the piano by ear, but you really could not get the chords right that way. Had to use my fingers. (Not that this helped-- I actually *can* play the piano, it is music that I cannot play.)

Anyway good for your back. LION was in train room, gnawing on the end of his tail. (Not that that helps either). LION had bought 300 LEDs last Christmas (on sale, you understand), him took the sets apart and saved the LEDs in a dish (or something). Him used about 100 of them to light the Prospect Park Station, but where that dish is now, the LION does not know. Him spend two days looking for it, and even cleaned up to tables in the process, but the lamps, they cannot be found.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, a cup of decaf would hit the spot right now...

Didn't get in here this morning as I was getting a few odds and ends done before my "Sleep Study" appointment and then heading out to my sisters house to feed the cats, spray more wasp spray into the crack in the stucco under her porch, and wait for the car to charge a bit more.  The stray cat was waiting on the porch for me to show up, but ran off as soon as I walked up the steps...  Claude (her indoor cat) was no where to be found.  The little rascal did pull out the unopened bag of his diet cat food (little stinker is getting to be about 20 lbs. and he is only a year old) and scratch it open so he could dine as much as he wanted.  bag has now been put in a cupboard where he can't get it.  I looked all over the house and finally found him under my sister's bed hiding!  He knows!!!  He is a sweetheart though.

Tonight I will be wearing a machine to bed that will monitor my breathing, oxygen levels, and pulse...  Tomorrow morning I fill out a questionnaire and take it all back down to the allergists office.  Then I get to do some errands and go to my sister's house for a few hours.  By charging at her house, I was able to drive the 16 miles back home and get 129 mpg with the PiP.  Got about 118 mpg going to her house, but it is uphill from where I live.  I could have done better on the way home as I should have gone back to EV sooer.  Pulled in my driveway and still had 5.2 miles of EV left.  I want to have it turn to 0 at the same time as i drive up the driveway to get the best advantage from the EV range...  Still, not bad.

Tom, sure hope you get feeling better and the docs figure out what brought it on.  Glad they were able to get you right in.

I think I will disappear to the train room to mix some paint...

Later!

*YAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN* Good evening, RBF please...thankya.

Speaking of thank-you's:

Mr. BEAR: Thanks! I've got an ideer or two for THAT venetian blind, might even be one SWMBO will agree to...or learn to live with! Mischief

G: Thankya, thankya *takes a bow, clonks head on the Rivet Counter*

Mr. LION: I knew nothing could get past a Lion's sharp eye!

KARL: Thank you sir!

KING OF TODDLAND: Thanks Pally!

GARRY: Thank you as well Sir!

Since I don't have any track yet, I'm chipping away at some parts of the Cedar cRapids Industrial Branch THAT aren't dependent on having track, and don't impact where the track will go when I finally procure some. Hey, it's only taken nine years (plus a few months) to get this far.

For kicks and grins, and lack of bucks (maybe THAT Editor will cc Big Boss the very glowing, very complimentary e-mail she sent me today complimenting and thanking me in a most generous way; leading Big Boss to pony-up a raise...), I might start on some mock-ups for other structures, like another part of Quaker Oats or the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co.'s 6th St. power station. THAT will be a flat against the wall along the Chicago Central yard.

Have a good and safe Tuesday everybody, thoughts and prayers continue for all in need.
