morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD MONDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Monday, September 23rd, 2013!!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!!

Today's fun limericks:

There was a young fellow named Weir,
Who hadn't an atom of fear.
He indulged a desire
To touch a live wire.
(Most any last word will do here!)

There once was a man from Great Britain
Who interrupted two girls at their knittin'.
Said he with a sigh,
"That park bench, well I
Just painted it right where you're sittin'."

Olde tyme words:

Percribrate - To sift.

Tutoyant- Affectionate; Intimate.

Bullimong - Cattle feed that consists of many grains all mixed up.

Good Afternoon Folks,

A big thanks for all your support. Actually, 4.7% is an excellent achievement for a political newcomer. I am sure, this percentage will be much higher in 4 years!

Unfortunately, I do not have enough "steam" to wait that long. Nor do I have the funds to continue my political work. My trip into politics has ended last night, and so have my hopes and dreams of a little better life.

Have a good one!

Ulrich- shame on those voters for no t choosing you!

I don't know how it works there, but here, often the loosers get appointed  or nominated to jobs in the political field.

FOr example, First off Hillary Clinton was a runner for president, lost out, then was named to Secretary of State. Ditto {the same} for Current Secretary of State Kerry!

SO if your system works similar, you MAY get a job yet!

DOn't despair, it may also have been a "resume booster"!Add it to your current resume as a "job" you held for a brief while..it may be a testimonial to your "gumption" as we say here!

And..It got your name out there in the public-at least in your state- and maybe someone will now hire you!

FOr shame on those who didn't vote for Ulrich!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and some coffee cake please. Thanks

Sunny, with a high near 74.

Ulrich- I’m very disappointed  to hear you didn’t get the last toe over the hurdle. Too bad you don’t know just how many votes short you were from bumping to the 5%. On second thought….you may not want to know. Could have been only one or two. Either way you put up one heck of a showing and your party is obviously being taken seriously. Maybe next time.

Ray- I looked in to see who was driving that car and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Him. (ROFLMAO)  I guess you weren’t exaggerating about the drivers up there. Worst part was the car when I first saw it and even after rewatching a couple times, doesn’t appear to obviously be in your lane until after it comes from behind the guard post. Around here we call those people morons.

Gotta get movin, have some things to do today. Whistling Imagine that.Laugh

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Here ya go Galaxy. One of my mothers favorite little limericks.

There once were two cats of Kilkenny,
Each thought there was one cat too many;
So they fought and they fit,
And they scratched and they bit,
Till, excepting their nails
And the tips of their tails,
Instead of two cats there weren't any.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have aq short stack of blueberry pancakes and a cup of dark roast coffee to start the day!

Thanks for your kind words here in the diner folks!  I'm just very happy to still be here and am still a bit shaken up by yesterday.  I sent the video out by email to some family and friends.  My sister in Canandaigua called about 5 minutes after I sent it...  She appeared happy I was still around as well.  She seemed very concerned that if something had happened to me she wouldn't have anyone to come take care of her cats while she is in the "Very Far" next month! Whistling  LOL

One of the people whom I emailed the video to just emailed me back.  He is an insurance agent.  His response?  "How much and where did you get it from."  Laugh

Today is catch up day around here.  Need to mow the lawn this afternoon, do laundry, finish some computer w*rk that I am behind getting done, and several other items.  Might even see if there is still a model railroad down cellar...

  Morning All,

Currently it is 50 with an expected high of 80, then a cooling off trend for a few days.

After grocery shopping yesterday my back started bothering me a bit, so just rested it and got nothing else accomplished. Today is a w**k day, so we will see how that goes.

Ulrich - I am sorry you did not win. You put up a good fight, and it is your states loss.

Ray - Glad you are alright. I had that same thing happen to me on the way home from w**k one night a few years ago, except it was on I 80 going about 65mph. In the past year there have been 2 head on collisions on I 80 between where I live and where I w**k. One in the east bound lane, and one in the west bound lane. The guy going east in the west bound lane was intoxicated. The woman going west in the east bound lane had been in that lane for about 15 miles they said.

   Prayers to all in need.

Jeffrey, Here is one form my very heart to yours:

There was a man from Killkenny

who lacked many a penny

he sought out the pie man

who walked right by him

so for dinner he hadn't any.

Note: Some of the limmericks I make up meself, others I find and share...probably some no one cares if I had shared!

{If only I could share SOME certain hillarious limmericks!}

A whole 47 F here! A heat wave for sure..at least we run no A/C and run no heat..yet!

Went to argue with NYSEG {the elec/gas co}. AGAIN i wanted to pay them more than they say we owed, BUT if I didn't they would overcharge me when the budget we paid gets below what they say we owe....boy they will!!! Got it straightened out..now down to a whole $2.25 in the checking account, but all bills paid for the month!

I don't know yet if we are going to eat out Wed....its my big five-oh, you know...can't really afford an expensive dinner out, but we missed MOH's B-day {not a five-oh, but a five-four} in hte spring cause MOH was out of work then so we didn't eat out..about the only times we do...don;t know what I want if we do..roasted duck sounds good but probably $15-$20 per. MOh is working the A of M, so it'd be early bird specials for us. Our Favorite place closed down.why we don't know,,had Gloriously  delicious Prime Rib...so that is now out! Other places have ti, but dunno...maybe we go and split an order somewhere to cut costs..but still get a treat...duuno.

well the laundry won't do itself!

Everybody, get read for a big celebration for "G" in the Diner! ... "G", what is your favorite kind of cake?

Plan ahead! We'll have a Barry-sized cake!

Jeff ... The F3's are look great. I bet you look forward to when you can paint them. ... Nice of your Niece's husband to get the video game for you.

Ulrich.... No matter what, you can count on the Diners as your friends. I know you were disappointed about the vote, but you did make a statement which needed to be heard. Be proud of what you have done!

Ray ..... Ray .. That was a scary video. . You have quick reflexes. ... I had a similar experience many years ago. I was on I-94 going west of Kalamazoo, MI. An on-coming car car was cruising the wrong way at a very high rate of speed coming right at me. Just missed. Looked in the mirror and other cars just missed too until he was out of sight. Crazy people.

Now that Summer is over, who has big plans for their model railroad in the months ahead? ..... or even little plans?  My layout extension is no where near completion, and I'll be working on it for a long time still.

You have no idea how much I would love for a paint booth with all the paint I needed to materialize here. On the video game, it's taking some time to figure out the controls. He left me Wolfenstein to play. So far I've become adept at getting killed in the rail yard.

Worked on three Varney F3's today.

Put windshields an dwindows in the plastic F3. Yes, there's glass in there.

And redid the windshields in the two metal Athearn/Varney F3's. The 'Super F3' on the left and the 'non-converted' F3 on the right.

***Ray, glad you responded quickly and avoided that one. Yikes!

***Garry, I hope to figure out how to get the current layout raised up to 40" and then the expansion started over the winter.

Hope everyone is doing well these days.

Hey gang! Cowboy

Not a whole lot happening today. Trip to the post office this morning to drop off some stuff going to new owners. The lot I picked up at the auction last week bore fruit. 1 MTH hopper sold for more than I paid for the lot!Big Smile

The I finished the handrails and paint touch up on the 1 engine from the lot, and tossed a decoder in it as well. Now to decide it I'm gonna keep it.Confused

Hmmm, gotta think about this!

Got work done on three F3's today. I won an anniversary boxcar on another forum. The money collected goes to support the forum so I consider the $50 I bid is going to good use. I tried out the XBox 360 my nieces husband brought over yesterday. It had Wolfenstein in it so I played that. So far I've shown an amazing propensity for getting my butt blown away in the rail yard. But I remember I got toasted many times in Wolfenstein3D when I started playing it back in 1995.

Well that's it for today. See y'all tomorrow.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Tuesday, September 24th, 2013!!!

Only one whole day before...and I feel some age and wisdom coming on!!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Today's fun limericks:

A cheerful old bear at the Zoo
Could always find something to do.
When it bored him, you know,
To walk to and fro,
He reversed it and walked fro and to.

There once was a old man from Norway -
who cussed as he sat in a doorway-
the door smacked him flat-
and he yelled "what was that"?
that disgruntled old man from Norway!

Olde tyme words:

Anagnorisis - The moment of recognition or discovery (in a play, movie, etc.)

Fleechment - Flattery; Persuasive talk that's not necessarily true.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and 3 eggs scrambled on top of a couple biscuits and cover it with sausage gravy please. Thanks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.

Garry- Plans for the MRR? Oh you betcha! Still have a few things outside to do and then…well who knows. But when the weather gets cold and Todd’s stay inside, then it’s down to Toddland (of which I’m king). Hopefully I will make some progress and I can be an MRP (that's Model Railroader Proper)Yes

Well Ray, I’m sure glad your sister’s relieved she won’t have to worry about her cats next month.Laugh Laugh

Like I told Garry, got a few things yet to do like wash down the house, tackle the Rose of Sharon (no haven’t got that done yetWhistling) and then cut back the blackberry bushes of this years fruited canes. That, in reality, should be less than a days worth with plenty of time left over, and I’m thinking tomorrow, but…Huh?...you know me. Especially when the phone rings.

OK, I’ll leave you with this statement on the bottom of a bill I paid for the Church on Monday. (ahem) And I quote:

“A shipping and handling fee of $4.00 has been included in the invoice amount  to insure the items are shipped free.”

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good On Ya Todd,Bow  What I did was every time I wanted a cigarette was ask myself why, after going through the hassles of withdrawal pangs for x amount of time, did I want to go backwards. I still haven't given up smoking it's just that I've managed not to have a cigarette for nearly 6 years. "Kia Kaha".

Todd-Free shipping "fee"  is like the "2 day shipping" I got from Dell on the monitor..was ordered Wed the 11th., shipped friday the 13th {shoulda told me somehting right there!} , but on 2 DAY SHIPPING, not arriving until the following Wed. the 18th??? TWo DAYs is FRI and MON, or at the latest, MON and TUES!!!

TODD- you will be glad you quit smoking. I quit in 2005 after coming back from HAwaii {been awhile since I menitoned that he he}. I used the patch for 5 months to get away form the cancer sticks. None worse for the wear and FAR better off..we had lots of extra money then, {where has it gone to now?} and I am not tied to a pack of 20s. SO Keep it up man, you CAN do it! Lunchtime in Germany!

I am still having the blues. It´ll last for a few more days and will be hopefully over by the weekend. We missed our target by 133.000 votes. Some think the results were manipulated, but I doubt that. We have to accept that we failed to achieve our target and that there are many other reasons why this happened.

Todd - I have no problem giving up smoking.I can do that a number of times each day Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Mornin y'all! Cowboy

Flo, Can you whip up a tall stack of flapjacks,,oh I guess about 8 of em, along with that maple syrup and some scrapple on the side! Oh and coffee in my Maryland Midland mug!

Finally seeing progress on the engines I'm doing for some friends. 1 batch is a GP9B bracketed between 2 SD24s, all in the club paint scheme. The B unit is done, still waiting on parts from Atlas to finish the SD's. The other batch was 3 Proto B&O GP9's to install Tsunamis in, the reletter the number boards and cabs with new numbers. Decoder work is all done, might do the numbering today.

Finally, I won a car on ebay yesterday for an upcoming project, after being beat out 3 weeks straight. Strange, I lost 3 times with my high bid being $32.00, but won yesterday at $24.95! Confused

Anybody can quit smoking without aid if they put their mind to it. I was a two and a half to three pack a day smoker of twenty-three years. I got to where I could hardly breathe anymore. That was the final straw. I quit in two weeks cold turkey. No patch, no gum, nothing! I just put them down and didn't pick them up again. They were right there on the shelf if I wanted them, an open pack with a lighter on it. All I had to do was take one and light up. But every time I wanted one I found something else to keep me busy. After two weeks I didn't want them anymore. That was 1995. Sub tract twenty-three from that you get twelve. I was eleven when I started smoking, twelve when I picked it up in earnest. To this day I can't figure out why I started. I know why I quit.

Galaxy .... Okay, we'll place an order for one of those Cake. Just to be sure, you want a marble cake. I ask because marbles are crunchy and may also be a choking hazard. Smile, Wink & GrinWhistlingLaugh

Everybody ...  Make sure you are here tomorrow for G's big birthday party. We are ording Barry-sized marbles.

Todd ... Listen to Jeff's advice about quitting. ... I never had the habit. When young I tried one every so often. They tasted terrible. I can not imagine why anybody wants to start smoking in the first place. Nothing could taste worse...... Glad you have model railroad projects awaiting you.

Karl .... I like the C&O Alco. Looks like a "keeper" to me.

Ray .... You mentioned you blacksmith building project. Looking forward to see progress.

Weather has been so nice last few days, it's a good idea to get outside stuff done. Frustrating part is I'm not getting my model railroad projects done in the meantime.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a bowl of organic granola and a cup or three of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please.

A bit grumpy this morning as yesterday I went down cellar to do the washing and found the hot water heater had started to ooze water at the top...  I guess it doesn't owe me anything as the date the original was installed(got a replacement under warranty) was 1991.  Since hot water heaters last around 10 years around here on average, I guess I did pretty well with it.  I had talked to the furnace people about doing a preemptive strike on it last winter.  Was hoping it would last until the first of the year.  They will be here to replace it with a high efficiency type later this week.  In the mean time I am just shutting off the water supply when i leave the house and at night.  The heater has one of those quarter turn valves that actually work....

I better watch my carb intake today If we are having Marble cake with butter cream frosting tomorrow.  Galaxy will be a half a century old I hear!  Galaxy may the next 50 years be even better for you!

I have an appointment to get a crown today at the dentist...  "Oh Joy, Oh Rapture!"  need to mow more lawn ASAP before I go over this afternoon.  Also have some MLK business to take care of.

Todd!  Good for you!  You are going to feel so much better after you kick the habit.  I was a cigar and pipe smoker for many years.  I quit the way Jeffrey did, only I took the last pack of cigars and put them in the trash and vowed to never buy any again.  Amazing how much more $$$ I had in my wallet at the end of the month!  Oh!  I'll be sharing some photos as i get some progress on the blacksmith shop.

Gotta get moving...  Later!
