Currently it is 47 with an expected high of 80 under sunny skies.
Dentist called Monday afternoon, said if I could get there by 8:00 AM Tuesday, they could have my partial back by 2. Got home around 10:30 Monday night, got up and drove the 30 miles to Reno, dentist took my partial, and I went back home. At 1:00, drove back to the dentist, received my fixed partial, and went to w**k, got home around 11:00 Took the Satern to get it's regular service in at 8:00 yesterday morning. A few long days, today it is back to w**k.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and interest. The good news to report from yesterday is that there is no Cancer. So I am really glad for that. On Going -- More blood work after work today and then an appointment will be set for an MRI. and the surgery should be in October. Today it just feels like a big tooth ache, but can handle that with a couple of Tylenol.
Garry, You were wondering about the speed of my progress here. Well that is the result of public funded Health Care. Although surgical times have definitely shortened up, there is still a wait unless it is emergent and you go in by Ambulance. But the price is right..

My Son , The Auto Tech, has been suffering the last couple of weeks with a Siatic nerve problem that is really bothering him at work. Has taken a day or two off and has gone the rounds with the Chiropractor, Massage therapy, & Acupuncture, but nothing seems to help much. Your prayers would be welcomed.
Hope to get down to the LM&E soon, that will be to get a campground set up at the west end of the north wall, by the Cut and small tunnel. Lots of thinking lately not much work.

Zoe, just a refill for my dark roast coffee at the moment.
I had to get some errands done first thing this morning (which means before 11AM around here). Needed to go to the post office and get a package weighed and checked for width to find out how much it will cost us to mail, then go over to the allergist's office for my injection, then to the grocery store to get a few things to have on hand when the ladies from my class come over to finish up the booklet we will be mailing out to the attendees (see first part of sentence...).
Need to get lunch and then wait for my son to arrive with granddaughter #2 so we can take the little trailer down to the tire store for its annual inspection... I think it should pass with no problem as it has two tires, a proper hitch with chains and everything, and all the needed lights. Quick and easy but it has to get done.
Jeffrey, thanks for your service as moderator. You did a great job! Fair, to the point, and quick to stop budding online fights. I hope you will soon be back on board again!

Got up early this morning and was at the barber shop a little before 7:00 am. Was home by 7:30. I love it when I don't have to sit there for a couple of hours just to get a haircut. After breakfast, I washed the car and gave the inside a good cleaning. We are going out of town this weekend to attend a great nephew's birthday party. Don't ask me why, but it really bothers me to start out with a dirty car. But from the weather forecasters, it looks like I'll be driving in the rain from my garage to my Niece's house. But that's okay, I will have tried.
Also got a couple of loads of wash done. One was just the towels that I use to dry and clean the car. Then got a little yard work done. After I finish reading some forums and the news, I've got a couple of pairs of pants that need pressed off, then I quit for the day.
If I don't get back in before then, everybody have a great weekend and stay safe...

Late afternoon on a be-yoo-tiful day here in New England. We've gotten busier at work, which I prefer, but I can't keep up with slacking off the way used to.
Todd, is Brenda's blood pressure medicine a new thing? Watch for side effect. It took my doctor 3 times to get it right. It's just trial and error, as everyone responds differently. Look up the side effects yourself, and watch for them in her. Lisinopril gave me a cough, which didn't start for a few months, but when I saw it in my mother-in-law I recognized it immediately. Atenolol is a beta blocker, and those will make pretty much anyone tired and feeling weak. I'm on Losartan now, which doesn't seem to bother me.
Tom, I like the barber shop. It's just a barber shop, not a stylist or a salon. It smells exactly like the barber shop I went to as a kid. I've been going there for about 35 years now. Outside of Boston, of course, the topic of discussion is usually sports - the promise of a new season, the excitement of the playoffs, and then another sport as summer turns to fall, fall to winter and then back to spring.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I did some work on the F3 today and began converting it into something a bit more modern.

Well, nothing much happened today at w**k, although we did deliver 99 tires to a contract that we have (Alabama Department of Public Safety, aka, the State Troopers). Certainly helped us catch up on the little bit we were behind for the month. Other than that, didn't do a bloody thing... Actually left early and managed to get home and wrestle with the kids in the yard this afternoon.
I've been over in the Trains forum enjoying a great discussion on tractive effort of a locomotive, vs car numbers that can be moved, and of course enjoying my time in here.
Well, I see my RBF is ready, so I'm going to hang out here at the RC and watch things until its time to go check for light leaks behind my eyelids....

Layout progress today included installing switch machines. It's hard to crawl under they layout to do that while lining them up correctly. Not my favorite model railroad job. Most of my turnouts have ground throws, but thse will be hard to each when this section of the layout is done.

Yesterday afternoon I was up stairs working on some network switches when we heard the quiet ping of steam in the heating pipes. Just last week we were complaining about ho hot it was, Now they are testing the steam to make sure all of the valves work.
The steam is shut off in my room and office Well my office has no heat at all but does have one humongous steam pipe passing through, but this is three times heavily insulated and gives no heat. But then, who wants heat in a computer office. Four servers and four computers supply all of the heat that is required, indeed I keep the A/C on most of the winter.
Anyway this morning it is 37 degrees at the airport (Dickinson, not Richardton) and 41 degrees in our courtyard although that detector is by a doorway and can be affected by the building heat. Anyway it looks like the heating season has arrived in North Dakota. One year n NYC, I did not open the steam valves until the middle of November. But then even here in ND, the lake did not freeze until November, and that is quite rare.

Mr B- Thanks for the heads up on the blood pressure meds. Actually the only one she is on is the lowest dosage they make and she takes only half the pill once a day. They put her on that not for her BP, but because the med that she takes due to the stent (I call it blood grease) which also lowers blood pressure a bit which is what they want at first anyway, they found the combo of these two medicines actually works to help the heart heal better with less deformity. She otherwise has good BP. But we will keep an eye on things in that area two.
Funny MrB brought up reactions as Brenda was taken by her sister this time and no rush, back to the hospital. Nothing serious nor related directly to her heart. Her Personal Physician was most concerned about the heart doctors choice in the use of Lipitor especially in the “massive dose” he has her on (due to the new stent which will be lowered in a short time) He is not a big fan of Lipitor it sounds due to the side effects, which like most can eat mushrooms just fine, some have reactions and some are quite serious. He gave her a list of things to watch for and if she experiences ANY of them, call him. Well she did. Last night while I was at wo*k, she had a achy muscle in the back of her arm for some reason and a tingling in her shoulder so she called her doc. He said go in and have it checked and they of course (they being the horsepiddle ) called the heart doctor who decided she needed every test in the book I guess to insure it wasn’t stent related or her heart. She left fine. No issues, no problems and a bit more than about halfway through, she noticed her arm and shoulder felt just fine.
Starting to see the first effects of mandatory health insurance, but I shall not go into it here.

After stacking 2 cords of wood yesterday I was totally played out and stiff as a board last night, so a Percocet with dinner and one at bedtime, and this morning I am back among the living! Had a Coffee, a diet Dew and 2 fiber/granola bars for breakfast, so that ought get me goin!
Goin to a run session at CSX_Road_slugs house tonight. Might try to sneak in a steam loco on him,,,,there are far too many diseasels there!
I'd keep an eye on that Lipitor Todd. After my stroke the Docs put me on a huge dose, but I had to go off of it, Muscle weakness and joint pain. So much so that id I wore a pull over shirt, I'd have to get SWMBO to help me take it on and off! I've been off it close to a year and am finally back to normal from the affects..

Jeff.... I'm glad you have things to work on while you recover from surgery. I can sort of relate. I had a very long recovery from a car accident many years ago I made some craftsman type wood building kits for my layout which at the time was the 1900 era. I still have some of my completed buildings from then.

Wow! The big bright thing has been shining now for 3 days in a row! Been making a few Kw of power up on the roof because of it. With the days getting shorter and the angle of the sun getting lower, even good bright sunshine doesn't make as much as it did a couple months ago.
Busy cleaning house before the ladies from my class arrive to finish the w*rk on the booklet we are mailing out to all who attended the reunion last month. Need to get it done before we have a final general meeting of the committee next week. Would be nice to have several copies of it ready to hand out to them to avoid mailing costs for as many as possible.
Then back to creating an octagon blacksmiths shop!

Been working on the F3 today. I'm reworking the intake filter screens into full length units that go all the way from the cab windows to the back of the body. This started as an F3 and is to the point of 'F I don't know what' and who knows where it'll end up.Weatherwise it's been raining here all day. We are under a flash flood watch and an areal flood advisory. Thank God this happened when the ground was dry. Rain chance for tonight is 90% or better and it looks like the same for tomorrow and possibly tomorrow night. The crawfish and frogs are loving it.That's all for today. See y'all tomorrow if I'm not out looking for a boat.

Why would clams be happy? It has been suggested that open clams give the appearance of smiling. The derivation is more likely to come from the fuller version of the phrase, now rarely heard - 'as happy as a clam at high water'. Hide tide is when clams are free from the attentions of predators; surely the happiest of times in the bivalve mollusc world. The phrase originated in the north-eastern states of the USA in the early 19th century. The earliest citation that I can find is from a frontier memoir The Harpe's Head - A Legend of Kentucky, 1833:
"It never occurred to him to be discontented... He was as happy as a clam."
The first record that I can find of the 'high water' version is from the Pennsylvania newspaper The Adams Sentinel, August 1844:

Oh an I also need to start getting around to the Rose of Sharon bush destruction, I mean pruning, and of course the yard needs touched up as far as mowing goes. Need a new front door latch and the gutters still need put on the shed. Hey, it’s only been 10 years ya know, give me a chance to at least turn around. AND I need to make a bench for out back of the kitchen up to the restaurant. Been doin that for what 6 months now? Ya I’ll get around to it here directly. Maybe

Good morning. It's 69° with 100% humidity. The high will be 78° and will feel like 82°. with a It's quite wet here but at least it isn't raining. The lake hasn't started to rise yet, at least I can't see any evidence of it from the windows of my fathers office where I have my little workshop set up. Looks like more rain is expected today. The flash flood watch has been dropped.Today I'll be doing some work on - you guessed it - the F3. I'm making changes on it that cross and mix phase distinctions that might make any rivet counter want to pack his bags and leave town. It's very definitely a phase I unit but it has certain things on it that were late phase II and some as late as phase IV but not as late as the F5 and it'll get crazier still. I'm having a lot of fun with this and I intend for it to get double and triple takes and some 'hey that's not supposed to be there' looks. It should blend right in with my other F units as most of them are rivet counter nightmares too.

I have already made the run to the landfill with the hazardous household waste to recycle this morning. Turns out the company they got to do the electronic stuff this year is 2trg from right downtown in Geneva. Said hi to a former mayor of the city who is the manager of 2trg now. Got most of the way out to the dump and back home on EV. ICE fired up about 3 miles outside of Geneva, warmed up and helped me get to the city limits, then shut down. had enough power in the battery to take me the last mile+ (downhill) back to my house.
Currently 69°F outside with a high of 68° later. That is what it says! Honest! Cloudy with some sprinkles happening right now and lots of heavy rain and thunder for this afternoon. I better go plug in the car before the thunder part begins!

Off this weekend, and Friday was a payday, so a big grocery shopping trip is planned for today. Last night went to Colonial Sanders ( one of my daughters says I am still living in the 60's), or KFC for you youngin's, and brought home a 10 piece bucket of legs and thighs for dinner and probably lunch today. Will also do a load of laundry, pay some bills, and hopefully wipe off the tracks and run a few trains. Maybe w**k on the Walthers Furniture kit too.
