 Afternoon All,

Currently it is 56 with an expected high of 78 with a chance of showers and wind again in the afternoon.

Another w**k day for me today. I did get to run a train yesterday, and will again before I head into w**k.

  Barry Happy B-Day Cake

Todd - I quit smoking in 2004, it was easy after a very mild heart attack and double by-pass surgery. Not the best way to quite, but hey it worked. I wonder if my wife had quite, if she would still be here today.Sad

   Prayers to all in need.

Been out messing around taking photos around the area and ran across this. Old warhorse doing switching duties shuffling tank cars around. The trestle is about a mile down the track in the direction the engines are heading. Unfortunately, it's about 5 miles by road to get from one spot to the other so no train on the trestle.

Hmmm now I can't find them on my HD so that I can put them in photobucket Sad It's been that kind of day. Grumpy

Rather slow in here this afternoon and evening I think.

Janie, just a decaf please.

Got several phone calls this afternoon.  My son called to tell me he watched the movie I put on line...  Was very grateful I escaped without hitting the other car.  Then he says he wasn't so lucky yesterday.  Only he hit a deer on the way home from work...  He is OK, the deer isn't, and the car is drivable but has one front headlight out and will need some fender and grill work.  I suggested to him he drive his wife's car and she drive his until the repairs can be made as she is home from school before dark and he has to drive in the dark both morning and evening this time of year (He works a 12 hour shift).

Another call was a message that the heating folks will be here a bit after 8AM tomorrow.  Best set my alarm and get dressed before they arrive.  I hope I have enough $$$ left in the bank to pay for a new hot water heater as I had not one, but two crowns done today.  The dentist wanted to do both as they are only one tooth apart and as long as he was grinding away....  It also meant I needed to either pay part now and part later, or pay all at once for 2 crowns ($2,500... I don't have dental on my insurance) but would get a 5% discount.  I opted to pay it all now.  That means all my safety accounts are depleted....  I should have enough to put in the new water heater, but I don't like being this short of emergency money!

Think I need to call it day and head to cut some Zzz.

Prayers for all in need.

morning coffee in the diner..

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Wednesday, September 25th, 2013!!!

Fifty years ago I entered into this world! YUP! I've finally Hit the big FIVE-OH. I'm now officially 50! I feel more wise today than ever before!

Happy B-Day to me! Happy B-Day to me!

Today's Limmerick:

There was a man up yonder way,

Who thought he'd just like to say

"Isn't it nifty

I've turned fifty,

today I'll  celebrate my birthday"

A cheerful old bear at the Zoo
Could always find something to do.
When it bored him, you know,
To walk to and fro,
He reversed it and walked fro and to.

Make it a great day!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and some strudel please. Thanks.

A 20 percent chance of showers before 7am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

Happy B-Day Galaxy!!!!

Ulrich- Good for you! Glad you’re not jumping on the conspiracy theory right out of the chute. You know 133 is not that many.  I would not lose sight of things. Shoot up in Chicago, they’d just make another pass through the cemeteries.

Karl- Don’t panic! Ziva will be on next week then we can all Crying. By the way, I think I’d keep that Alco.

Barry- Happy B-Day late!!!!

Thanks for the no smoking support. Actually I’m Vaporing now. (sounds cool) Brenda’s doctor told her he would give her a prescription for something, or she could take the patch. She mentioned the E-cigs and he said he’d rather her/me smoke those because with the patch you get nicotine pumped in your blood stream 24/7. With the E-cig, just when you “smoke” and then when the craving has passed, no more. He thinks the E-cig would be an easier way to quit as you can also get them with lesser amounts of nicotine, down to none just like the patch. He is in no way advocating the use of E-cigs, but in his opinion they are better than cigarettes and as for the nicotine part, better than the patch for quitting. He thinks breaking the “habit” part as when you go cold turkey without a cigarette is the best, but if an E-cig will get you to at least get rid of the tars and carcinogens while you get unhooked from the nicotine then work on weaning from the  nipple…., whatever works to get you to quit as long as it’s safe (as far as he knows, but mainly safer than cigarettes) he’s all for it. I’ve tried cold turkey, the forced cut back method even the “see how long I can go between cigarettes like Dennis did (guy I used to work with is over ten years between cigarettes), everything but paying for something else. So…., I’m trying this and if I’m still not “smoking” by the end of today, I’ll have gone the longest without a real cigarette and I should be good to go forever. Hard as may be to understand, I never did like the smell, the taste or the hassle of the things. You’d think I could just stop doing what I’ve always hated.

Got many a thing to do today not the least of which is to see the girls. But first...., Ziva! (I wo*k on Tuesday nights so it's CBS.com for me.)

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning!

I'll have coffee and cake please.  Dinner  (Light on the marbles.  Whistling )

Galaxy! ....... Happy Birthday. Hope this starts a wonderful year for you! Be thankful you can not hear me singing for you..... Have a great day!

Barry ..... I hope you had a good day. Did you do anything special to celebrate?

Ulrich ...... Hop your doctor appointment goes well. Did you say you were a smoker? I suggest quitting because it is very harmful to your health. You and Todd can have a quitting contest.

I'm working on some troublesome switches (turnouts) I have installed on the layout. Hope to get them de-bugged today so I can move down the line to get more done.

Happy Model Railroading!

Good morning. It's 68° with 96% humidity and patchy fog. The high will be 92° and will feel like 97°.

Nothing planned for today. I've gone about as far as I can on the F3's. Need to find something else to work on now. Still got the Other Apple IIe in the closet in my room. It needs a drive controller and a couple other things. I can look for them while I'm looking for another project.

Things got so slow online yesterday afternoon that along about 6:30 I finally said the heck with it and shut the computer down. I went into my room and fired up the XBox 360 and played Wolfenstein for a while. Didn't get much of anywhere but I did discover some neat ways to get killed. It doesn't help when the controller cuts out. Afterward I used the XBox for another of it's functions. I put in a DVD and watched Tron, the only DVD movie I have here. I really need to send someone over to my place and bring back a Wal-Mart bag full of DVD's so I can have something to watch.

OK, OK, OK,  what you need here is a professional trained singer today (Operatic Variety).  Aherm...

Now that we got THAT over with, Zoe I'll have the "Poor Man's Breakfast" this morning as I am now $775 poorer.  New hot water heater down cellar.  I am now officially out of slush funds.  Christmas may be slim from Papa Howard.  Guess I am well blessed to be able to just have the $$$ to get it replaced along with the dentist bill.  Very, very glad I had the sense to pull a couple thousand from the loan before it closed for lending.  Still hoping to never have to take out another loan.

Nice bright sunny day here in the Finger Lakes.  Should save me a couple $$ on the electric bill I hope.Currently 42°F outside with a high this afternoon around 69°F.

Have the first final meeting of the reunion committee tonight to review the whole event and see where we want to go from here.  I just printed out the second rough draft of the booklet in progress to take with me.

I need to get the rest of the lawn mowed today as it is high and thick.  Hopefully it is getting to the end of the season for it.  leaves are starting to turn here in these parts.

Catch you all later.  Zoe can I at least get a cup of coffee on the tab???

Whistling

G'd Mornen Ya All,

Thought I should pop in and wish the younguns a Happy Birthday.     Galaxy and Barry hope you both have a great day and a start to a fresh and much better year ahead.

V8 Vega,  I read and reread your post yesterday and I can't quite figure out if you were stating that the weather was 91 or that you are 91. Please clarify that for us/ or at least me.

Jeff, The composition on some of those old photos of your layout are very very good.  Hope all is well with the short leg.

Garry, keep us posted with photos of the new extension

Hope all of our MMR buddies who have been affected by Mother nature this year are doing OK.  Boy the world is full of tragedies as of late.

I am still waiting for an appointment for an MRI and I suppose that because it didn't show as cancerous I got slid down the list a little further.  I.m not feeling great, am very tired most of the time but consider myself fortunate to be where I am and to have had as long a life as I have had without any major problems. That might be because I have never smoked either and I quit drinking cold turkey in 1977, although that wasn't too hard as I drank very little anyway.  But I feel pretty sure that it does make a difference.

It is cool here and raining some today and it is definitely Autumn as the leaves are starting to come down now. They don't stay those nice colors for very long.

Looking forward to this week end as my Son and his wife are coming home from Billings, mainly to pick up their Dog and Cat that we have been looking after while they got settled in and did some redecorating etc. etc.   Might be their only time for awhile as with new jobs they don't have the free time that he had as a student.  Probably will be on call for the Christmas Holidays, so we might try to get down there for a couple of days. We'll see how that goes.

Jerry, I hope you have a good'un and that the I.S. is still running strong.

The same to all of you do have a good'un.  Prayers and Blessings for all who need.

Keep the flanges where they belong /// on the inside of the tracks.    LaughSmile, Wink & Grin    Stick out tongue

  Afternoon All,

Currently it is 48 with an expected high of 61 with the possibility of a shower in the afternoon.

Happy B-Day Galaxy.

Day off today, so lots of w**k to do around here. Need to do a load of laundry, cook some spaghetti sauce, a meat loaf, and make enchilada  pie, then freeze the meat loaf and enchilada pie into single serving portions. Need to vacuum and dust down stairs. Then w**k on the trains. Still need a lot of work on the Hardwood Furniture kit, and I have a Peco electrofrog turnout that will not always route power. I think the internal spring is not strong enough when in the diverging route. I may need to install a Switch Tender motor to fix that issue. I will be busy today, but except for the dusting, laundry, vacuuming, I will be enjoying whatever else I plan on doing. I love to cook Chef almost as much as I love model railroading.

   Prayers to all in need.

Aw, shuckaroonies! Thanks for all the birthin' day wishes!Made me feel special all day!  I definitely feel older, but the wiser part, now I question that part, even though I felt wiser this morning!

Actually, I have been looking forward to turning 50, so its not a problem, but once is enough. Now I officially feel like an "old codger", and have the age to back that up! {at least when I was a kid everyone referred to those 50 and over as "old codgers'".

Prayers for the MIL, Please. SHe is in hospital with a serious kidney infection, and it is a bad one, the Doctor says "it is in God's hands now". At 86, one never knows about these things. Went to a little Greek Restaurant tonight {cheap} for my B-day and stopped to see her at the hospital, she is lucid, but often very confused. Better than yesterday, she was not so lucid at all.

Well, I am tired and we have to take the caravan in in the early A of M. It is leaking power steering fluid and I am hoping cheap hose fix! SO I shall go to bed soon.

Later Thanks again!

Been workin on a little project this evening, involving ink jet printers, clear decal film, and numberboards that light up. If my idea works, film at 11. Hmm or 12. Smile, Wink & Grin or heck, it might even be tomorrow, but if it works, you will know! Big Smile

Galaxy: Sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope she improves but at her age it can be really touchy.

*

Not much going on here today. I worked on the F3's a little. They now all have diaphragms and when two units are placed back to back they actually meet. I was digging through some of the old desks in the office here and I came across some video disks. That's right. Video CD's. Four to be exact, two movies worth. One is Tron which I watched last night on DVD on the XBox. The other is Gone in Sixty Seconds, the 1974 version. I had forgotten I had these. I brought them down here shortly after Katrina as the computer had just CD capability then. They had been transferred to DVD legally years before. VCD's won't work on the XBox but they work fine on the computer here in either the DVD drive or the CD drive with equal clarity. So tonight I'm watching Gone in Sixty Seconds.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Thursday, September 26th, 2013!

I have prayer candles up for MIL and one for others who need them!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Today's Great Limmericks:

The bottle of perfume that Willie sent
Was highly displeasing to Millicent;
Her thanks were so cold
They quarreled, I'm told,
Over that silly scent Willie sent Millicent!

There was a young girl from Oliver,
And all the men did foller her,
Until a guy came along,
And played her his song,
And all the rest quit callin' her.

Strange olde tyme words:

Purl to ripple along, murmuring (of a stream, etc)

rimbomboa booming roar {like a Lightning  or a roaring water falls}

fardela bundle; a burden; something cumbersome or irksome

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and…, no wait. Scratch that. How about a Dr Pepper, some meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and a salad with western dressing please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 83.

Ulrich- I hope you feel better.

G- Prayers for your MIL.

Welp, Sigh I just don’t know what to do with all this stuffSigh. I have so much…..junk…, that I don’t want to get rid of, but I know I will never EVER use or need probably ANY of it. Most will just sit in a closet or in the corner and take up space. But I GOT IT BOYS! I must really do some reality facing hereHmm. The walls are closing in.

Yesterday I replaced the light in the dining room, which of course added the old light as yet another thing laying around I had to stash in the trainroom until I get rid of itGrumpy. Will it ever end (shakes head). Almost got that done before the phone rang. But I did finish the light before leaving on another mission. Got back and stumbled on a Castle marathon so.....Whistling Laugh. Today, either the Rose of Sharon, or the blackberry bush gets trimmed. Probably the RoS as the Blackberries still have some red ones yet. Will wait for the outcome of those first, then prune it for the winter. Based on the way things go, I’ve decided to strive to get just one thing done a dayHuh?. Any more is gravy.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Yesterday I replaced the light in the dining room, which of course added the old light as yet another thing laying around I had to stash in the trainroom until I get rid of itGrumpy. Will it ever end (shakes head)

.

Todd:  ..... Suggestions: ........ Put it in the trash ..... Donate to Good Will. ...... Anything but cluttering the trainroom. Super Angry

JohnBoy ..... So far, I don't have pictures of my extension. Boards and track are not pretty by themselves, and some of it does not yet have track. Other parts don't even have the boards. ... I wish you could have your surgery soon so you can be on the road to recovery. I still think it is too long of a wait. .... As everyone knows, we're getting more into government health care, too, with so-called reform.

Cheers, everybody.

 Morning All,

Currently 41 with an expected high of 72 under partly cloudy skies.

Back to w**k today. Got a lot done yesterday around the house. Vacuumed and dusted the whole upstairs and downstairs, did a load of laundry, did a little grocery shopping, cooked three meals and froze them, glued down roadbed and track for one of the last two sidings, and did two small mini scenes on the layout. Pictures soon I hope.

   Prayers to all in need.

Coffee and…, no wait. Scratch that. How about a Dr Pepper, some meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and a salad with western dressing please. Thanks.

Mornin' everyone!

Ah... Is Todd really eating that for breakfast!?!  Zoe, I'll stick with my dark roast Marrakesh Express coffee and a bowl of Pomegranate Cherry organic granola with blueberries on top this morning.

The bright thing is again up in the sky outside.  So far a pretty good week for making electricity. Currently 62°F outside with a high of 68°F this afternoon.  Nice Fall day!

Been finishing up the Division Newsletter so we can get info out to the membership on the Fall Meet in Oakfield, NY on Oct. 5th.  Have tons of other stuff to get done today, so I doubt I will get any modeling done...Sigh

Catch up to you later!

Good morning. It's 82° with 49% humidity. The high will be 92° and will feel like 97°.

Nothing much going on here this morning. It took me several hours just to get a simple virus scan done. Swepco, the local power company wasn't making it easy. Four times this morning they managed to mess up the transfers which resulted in momentary power outages. I'm about to the point that I just want to snatch up the first Swepco lineman I come across and tie him up in increasingly smaller and tighter knots. And I have the size and appearance that would make one think I could do it too despite being minus half a leg. I can get around on my knees fairly well for a short distance.

My father just took off on an errand to Lowe's to get some things he needs for household projects. So I gave him a list of things I want. A Dremel 7-bit set ranging from 1/32" to 1/8" (he noted that I already have one and I pointed out it has three broken bits and Lowe's doesn't sell the bits individually), some cheap flat black spray paint and a small container of lacquer thinner.

Did some work on one of the F3's. Stripped the windows and portholes out of it then wiped it down with lacquer thinner to help remove the skin oils an ddirt that had built up on the shell. Then it was sprayed flat black with the exception of the roof insert which is still unpainted Zamac. That was it with that project so far. Tomorrow morning I have a doc appointment in town. General physical and lab work.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
