Had a bit of a mishap here. One of my Athearn cars dropped a coupler pocket cover plate and of course there was an uncoupling and derailment. The mess has been cleaned up but I can't find that cover plate anywhere. It's not the first time for this car. If I can't find the cover plate I'm going to drill the pocket and tap it for a screw and install a Kadee pocket cover on it. It won't just pop off then. Time to find a magnet and go around the track.

We done ended up in the triple digits here in the Finger Lakes yesterday afternoon. Hit 100°F at 1:45 yesterday. Will be a might better today. Currently 74°F with a high this afternoon in the low 80's. Much more normal for around here in July...... Lottsa clouds out there at the moment, but no liquid sunshine.
Had to call the Credit Union this morning and have one of the ladies reset my on line banking stuff.... last night right before I turned in I decided to check my accounts. Got into the Credit Card page, checked it, logged out and went to sign into the regular accounts. I must have been half asleep as I put the wrong password in and they asked my for the answer to a verification question. The question is one I don't use... tried again and again and it did the same even with my correct password. So I called this morning, talked to something called a "Human Being" and can now get onto my page! I do love the Credit Union!
Sue, yep, don't want anything around that could fall on the roof!
Galaxy? Likely? Food costs will be going up.... I got an email from Cherrypharm yesterday letting me know that they have cornered the market in the US for sour cherries. They normally buy mostly NYS cherries but this years crop is a 97% loss.... They have given all current customers a one year guarantee that the price for us will not go up. New customers on the other hand and retail at stores.........
Ken, it sounds like you need to get a change in the diabetes meds if your blood sugar is that high!!! I would get in to see a real doctor ASAP with levels so high. Your low # is above what my high number isn't supposed to get to...... I am allowed a small dish of ice cream daily as I desire on my diet. NO Banana splits anymore though!
Jeffrey, 54!?! Glad you woke up my friend.... Mine was right where I like it at 91 this morning and was 109 last night. I'm hoping I can keep it in the good zone for several years and give researchers time to find more things to keep it normal without resorting to the needle.....
Darren! You made my day! Nothing like the sound of a steamer working upgrade with a good sized train behind!!! Now when they get HO sound to sound anything like THAT I might be interested.....

Well I found the coupler cover plate. I keep a couple of old strip magnets stuck on the side of the fridge for just such an emergency and it picked up the plate inside of a minute. Upon examining the coupler pocket I saw that the teeth that hold the clip were worn down. I put the plate back on then took steps to make sure it never drops off again.Belt and suspenders anyone?
Afternoon guys
Got off work early so I decided to see what was up with my SD7. Last night I took it to the local MR club and had some weird results. When using Decoderpro and a DCS100 it would program, but would rarely run unless nugged or rocked, then it would run normally for a bit then not respond. Reset it and it worked, until programming it's address. Then it went back to not responding. Tried it on their Zephyr and it ran fine. Got home and tried it on my Zephyr and got nothing.
So I tore the whole thing down, and re-wired it. Ran fine on just DC. Tried again with all the electronics attached, went back to the weird behavior. I tested the decoder in another engine and it ran fine. Tested another decoder in this engine and same weird results. I tried another factory lightboard and it worked fine. Somehow the lightboard in my SD7 is causing this issue... What's weird is it was fine before I took it apart to re-attach a worm cover. I could try swapping the resistors on the 2 boards and see what happens.
Lee, IDK where it came from. My father got it somewhere and it broke at one point. I have the biggest chunk of it though. My bench is a folding one with metal legs and bracing, but a plastic deck. The magnet is attached to the bottom of the bench, and any metal piece that falls gets stuck on it (Ever wonder why I've only lost a few grabs, screws, eye bolts and other things?). The downside is the whole bench has some magnetic activity. Perhaps I should pull it off?

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Vincent: I have a Bachmann GP38-2 that was giving me the same sort of fits with it's own light board decoder. I broke off a capacitor that Bachmann puts on to conform with some regulation and it runs great. Do the P2K boards have a similar capacitor?

I just tried swapping the resistors and got the same result. Another plan is to take the resistors off and use them solely for the beacon. If that don't work it's back on the bench for it.
Jeff, it has a pair of rather large resistors. They are light blue, and look kinda like this: IIIII (brown, 3 black, and an orange band. They are for the lights (uses 1.5V bulbs), but it effects the motor control somehow. It also has a bunch of diodes, but no effect with them on or off (have a third board that has no resistors or diodes.
We saw absolutely nothing in terms of rain, outside of the 6mm of rain that showed up a few days ago...so...for May, June and most of July our total amounted to tada!!..12mm of rain.....

Jeff, That's one thing I haven't tried, but it will wait till tomorrow. I tried without the resistors and other things and the motor worked fine, but it had no lights. If you're idea don't work, it's back to the shelf.

I just got an email from the Mac store... They were able to recover the info from the "dead" drive only the drive was not the problem. The Macally case it was in was indeed defective! They said I can file a warranty claim with the company if I wish. I will pick it all up tomorrow on my way out to the R&GV RR Museum for the meeting.
Spent about an hour on the phone with my sister at suppertime.... I had just lit the grill! She has a knack of knowing when it is inconvenient to call me. She got herself a replacement for her old kittie that was killed by the neighbor's dog a couple months back. It is a little tiger cat about 3 months old. The little guy has been exploring and taking over the main floor of her house ever since she got him.... She said this one will be an indoor cat... Doesn't want to feed the neighborhood dogs anymore!
I've been cleaning stuff out in the basement shop area trying to find the lost jig saw. No jig saw, but a lot of other stuff I couldn't find for quite a while..... Have I ever mentioned I am not the world's best housekeeper. I mean, when I die and they have THAT service for me and they come to the part where people can get up and talk about me.... I could care less to have someone get up and say, "I knew Ray well, he was such a good housekeeper....!" I am more than a little ah ......, (can't use THAT word here) not to be able to find the jig saw!
Hope you are all having a good day!
Later!
Hi Gang,
Not much going on here except trying to stay out of the heat. That is the trouble with this part of the world, that it is a country of extremes. Not enough moderate weather. Too hot, too cold, too windy, too wet, too dry or something else.....
Hope all our sick call guys are on the mend now. Here is a cute little story to brighten your evening.
It's called MY FAVORITE ANIMAL.
Our teacher asked me what my favorite animal was, and I said FRIED CHICKEN.
She said, that wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right because everybody else laughed.
My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. FRIED CHICKEN is my favorite animal.
I told my Dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much.
I do too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway my teacher sent me to the Principal's office.
I told him what had happened and he laughed too. Then he told me not to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was.
I told her chicken She asked why. So I told her, it was because you could make them into FRIED CHICKEN.
She sent me back to the Principal's office.
He laughed once more, and told me not to do it again.
I don't understand.
My Parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am.
Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire the most.
I told her "COLONEL SAUNDERS".
Guess where I am now......................................
Have a great night Guys,

Time for me to call it a night. Found out today the Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube isn't the best thing for a model loco gear lube. It thins out into nothing and evaporates away leaving behind some green specks. Back to the Dexron/Mercon ATF. See y'all tomorrow.
Howdy ...
Jeff ... You were talking about lubricants for model locos. I have had no problems using lubricants by LaBelle available at hobby shops. ..... Also, Radio Shack has 2 products I have used very successfully. One is a light weight oil, and the product is called "Needle Tip Precision Lubricator" (64-2301A). The Second is called "Multi-Purpose Lube Gel" (64-2326). There is plenty in each container to last for many years as mine have. (I hope the product numbers are still the same.) .... Back to LaBelle lubricants, I have used the teflon powder for the needle point axles in trucks, and it works quite well for that purpose.
Galaxy ... Sounds like you are in communication with Ulrich. Thanks for checking up on him and the kind remakr to me.
Everybody .. Thanks for your concern about my health situation. Your kind words mean a lot to me.
Ken ... I have 2 of the MRC F7-A's (Northern Pacific). I used them quite a bit. They are not yet converted to DCC. ..... On some of my other locomotive DCC conversions, I Googled to kearn how to do it. In this case I will Google "MRC F7 DCC installation", and see what I can learn. ... My latest conversion was 2 F3 units by Genesis (CB&Q). I used the Digitrax drop-in decoder and added the Dgitrax Sound-bug. It worked well after I figured out some of the CV's.
I did a little layout work today. I put together some model electrical transmission line towers for my power house.
Cheers.

Good Morning All,
74F but rainy this morning - some big cells and microbursts hit around us both here and at home but we got out unscathed. Trees down all over our neighbourhood though.
Gotta love that ATF Jeff. We use a little in the diesels and a capful in the race fuel keeps all the internal carb parts happy. Also works well in the compressed air lines for the air brakes. For the model locomotives though I also use the LaBelle products so I don't discover some part is disolved by the ATF. Guess that's not such a worry, eh?
My thoughts and prayers for those of you still on the mend or awaiting operations.
Gotta run - off to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning early. CUL, J.R.
Good Morning
Gonna be a rather dull day for us'uns. Supposed to get rain today and tomorrow..we'll see about that..may end up with nothing but dull here....
Going to get some walks in this week..seems a little less stick and gum for us so it will make my walks a little more enjoyable...
Have a good day!!
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a Denver omelet please. Thanks.
It’s RAINING!!! Light rain with just an occasional slight comforting rumble of thunder. Makes you sleepy. Othernat, Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 96.
Still chugging away at odds and ends. Yesterday the inevitable happened. My BIL came over with a friend and we went to my rent-a-shed and hauled metal. And I do mean hauled some metal. I sent thirty plus years of car parts and two (2) old Lawn-Boy push mowers to the scrap yard. Sad but yet I’m proud of myself for letting it all go. It truly was just there. Now it’s not and I’m one step closer to freeing up the space and $45 a month to store stuff I don’t need. He’d say “this?” I’d say “Yup, take it” he’d say “you sure?” I’d say “don’t give me a chance to think about it”. Reality, othern a couple things I store in there I actually use like my salamander heater, I have not used anything out of there for at least 10 or 15 years. Just added to the pile.
Now. How long before I need something I just sent away.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Have a few plans for today. I have to drop my car off at the window tint place to get the tint on one window fixed. Luckily there is a lifetime warranty on the tint that even covers fading. Then it's off to a muffler shop that also does suspension work to get my subframes welded in. If all goes well I can use slicks on my car when I go racing on Sunday.
Johnboy, That one is pretty good
Model train lubercant, I've been using atlas conducta-lube as a light oil and traxxas grease for grease. I can get both at my LHS.
Todd, I hope you didn't throw any of the parts for your road runner out.
Morning Folks
Flo, Coffee pleases
Dropped by a few times yesterday and peeked in the windows, but did not feel like posting.
Jeffery thanks for posting the information yesterday. Makes me feel a little better to know this is normal.Sad thing now that I have stopped drinking I am eating more. That sure does not help.
VA Hospital Trip Today Got to go and have my blood flow checked out today. Wounder if there any chances of getting fitted with Diabetic Shoes today? This stupid boot is making my hip hurt and I swear I am going to break my neck wearing it.
Gary Guess you like the MRC F7's. I hope I feel like working on mine today. If I like it after I get a new decoder installed I may get the other one being held for me at K-10. I will have Ken (owner) test run it, if the decoder does not work I will see if I can get it a little cheaper.
Train Front Supplies Found a better deal on shrink tubing at Sears Hardware. 8 pieces of 3/32 tubes that are about 4 inches long for $1.87. I was paying $3.50 at the Shack for assorted sections, half of them could not be used for decoder work.
Soldering iron is plugged in, will drop by later.
